Some people on here spend more, now they are vaping than they ever did smoking cigarettes. However it costs me about £1 a week for consumables like wicks, wire, base, flavours, nic ,tools etc.
I make my own juices and wind my own coils but treat myself occasionally to some Krankberry.
I've worked out that after about a year i would have saved about £400! Enough to buy a Kayak.
My next year's vaping target is to buy a Kayak!

I was smoking cheap little cigars--basically cigarettes but filled with pipe tobacco and they didn't have the nasty NFC paper like "real" cigarettes or the ridiculous sin taxes. Less than $2 per pack and some brands were only $1 purchased by the carton but the savings in my health insurance premiums is where the big money comes into play for me. I was a little envious of those who were comparing the cost of e-cigarettes to Marlboro and Camel until enrollment time came around & hubby announced that his paycheck was going up by $180 because the tobacco surcharge was coming off the health insurance.

I'm happy & extremely angry at the same time. Happy that we're actually seeing more of our hard earned money but extremely angry that those SHARKS have been gouging us over $300 per month. I don't go to the doctor unless I am really, really sick and there is no way that it costs that much more to treat me than someone with a sweet tooth or an alcoholic or even a clumsy person! I know they try to tell us that the insurance companies have to gouge us now while we're still working so they can pay our health costs later but if smoking makes me so sick that I spend all my time in the hospital or doctor's office, I won't have a job so all that money that they took from me isn't being used to pay my medical bills. Wouldn't I have been better off paying it into a health savings account? Or stuffing it under my mattress? Or a condo in Costa Rica? It was banks & insurance companies that caused the global economic crisis so giving either one of them any money really irks me.

it's like comparing oranges to apples...
vaping is more like pipe smoking than cigarette smoking; while cigarette smoking you just looked for the nic fix, you had your brand and nothing really changed on a daily basis now with pipe smoking there is the hobby part, you will always want more pipes, different pipes, expensive pipes, different kinds of tobaccos some cheap some really expensive and you would always ended up tinkering an looking for something better

The question depends on what kind of life your living, who you are, and what you need and want. Obviously the people that have the money to spend, have the option to spend that money. The Doctors and Lawyer vapers have no problem buying a new GG and ZENs and a Caravela and maybe a Bogwa and whatever the newest most coolest $400 mod on the market is. They have no problem saying "I STRICTLY VAPE BOBAS BOUNTY!" or "I ONLY VAPE PLUID WITH MY FOUR IHYBRIDS!" or "I ONLY use blown glass trippy tips!" lol. They have no problem dropping $150 on a ZAP for their provari or $200 on this genisis or $200 on that one. That can become hundreds of dollars more expensive than smoking. They are enjoying themselves and they are spending on their new hobby.

U can be on the opposite side of the spectrum and use cig-alikes with DIY juice. Or eGos with DIY juice. Or if you can afford it, you can find a couple juices you enjoy and keep them on hand, but mainly make your own. Have a couple mods that you always saw and always wanted. Maybe buy a new mod every 2-3 months. Maybe a new RDA once a month with your juice purchase. Its all up to you.

I spent around $35-40 a month on a bag of tobacco & a box of cigarette tubes. If I don't buy a new atomizer or a new mod, and I haven't run out of a needed flavor, I can get away with buying a 20-30 dollar bottle of unflavored 18mg juice and make that last 2 months. So in juice, I get two months out of the money I used to spend for 1 month of smoking. But with vaping you do need to maintain your collection. Buy new batteries once a year for all your mods you use regularly. I just had to drop $40 on batteries. Vaping has more costs for me than smoking RYO cigarettes did. When I smoked my mom had no problem giving me $30 for a bag of tobacco because shes an ex smoker and she knows how hard it is to go without. With vaping on the other hand, my mom refuses to give me any money. In fact, if I went downstairs to ask her for $5 for juice she'd start hollering at me. If I went downstairs right now to ask her for $10 for a pack of cigarettes she'd give me $6 and tell me to buy an off brand. lol. But, vaping has 0 to nilch chance of killing me so I'm with it.

Wow that escalated quickly! Why'd you make me add it up. In the 3 months I've been vaping I've dropped $850 on juice and hardware. At $10 a day for cigars I would have spent $1020. So I'm still ahead.

I'm really ahead considering I have 2 VV/VW devices. 2 ego mini backups. a dozen clearos of various makes. an RBA. Wick and wire supplies. and about 500mls of juice. So I could stop buying things and have enough to last me quite awhile to let those savings accumulate more.

But If I stopped buying hardware today and entered "maintenance mode" I could get by on $50 a month for juice and supplies as opposed to $300 a month on cigars.

And I think I'm close to that plateau. I'm pretty well setup hardware wise and have narrowed in on my likes and dislikes. I've tried probably 100 different juices and am down to around 4 regulars I buy in larger quantities from a specific vendor. As well I know my tastes now so I'm not just blindly trying stuff because it sounds good. I have a pretty good idea of what I will or won't like.

for me personally it isnt much cheaper.i diy juice because i am a cheap azz i don't like to spend big money on anything,so now vaping is like a hobby so i don't mind spending the money on supplies for it,it is still less then smoking. plus i feel 100% better for not smoking, and i don't have to worry about going out in the weather just to have a smoke and i don't have everything stinking from the nasty cigarette smoke, for for me even when it doesnt seem cheaper it still did what is was supposed to do and that was to quit smoking,so is totally worth it and i would do it again.thats my .02

hmmm..was spending about $200 a month on cigs and that was with deals and coupons. Now am spending about $100 a month on juices but have a boatload of ones I bought and did not like but would/could smoke if need be.
I have averaged it out to predict that once I find the 4-5 juices I like and can buy a few random ones here and there I am probably spending about $60 a month on juices.

I'm in NYC. A pack of Marlboros can cost $14 here. Thanks Bloomberg! I smoked a pack a day, as did my husband and my mother in law. I'm now buying vape supplies for three people, and I'm still saving a buck. Just bought a couple of clearomisers, another cheap, $15 starter kit that included a variable volt ego style battery for a back up for my husband (all 3 of us started with one of those kits) and treated myself to an itaste VV v3.0 and mini protank. I'm STILL saving money compared to that $28 per day for cigs for 2 people. I just bought enough liquid to last three weeks for two people too, for half of what a carton costs here. A carton that would have lasted 5 days between 2 people. I won't be surprised when NYC goes up in vapor. It's like we don't have a choice.

Health is better,
Doctor visits down from 2 every 4 months to 0 this past 4 months.

Grandchildren can ride in the car, with us.
Actually able to play at the park with Pappa and Nanna.

Food smells and tastes great. (Put on a few pounds)

Kids and grandchildren like the way Pappa,Nanna, and the house smell.

Do not know how to assign a dollor amount to the above.............
priceless we think.....
Actually might be around to see the 18 month old granddaughter get married.......:toast:
