Pretty impressive response in the first attempt especially since I didn't say anything, lol!!! I posted in the wrong thread and so I deleted it not knowing that it would be moved (I really should have a cup of coffee before posting).

What's really spooky is that a lot of your responses mirror the point I was going to make. Can someone start humming the Twilight Zone theme song in the background?

In my deleted post, I made the observation that I am closing in on 3 months analog free and have spent $720 during that period. During that same period, I would have spent $420 on analogs. At first this looks like a losing proposition but I've got enough hardware to last at least a year so I suppose it's not so bad. But my real question is, do popular savings banners tell the whole story? Considering such things as increased premiums for smokers, co-pays on doctors visits for smoking related illnesses, deductibles and co-pays on hospital visits (and let's face it - to the hospital we WILL go if we keep smoking), lost wages due to these periods, and so on and so on, what are the true costs of analogs compared to ecigs? Even though the banner may say we are losing money, I suspect most of us are saving far more than we imagine.

And if someone is still humming The Twilight Zone, my last point was going to be that our health is priceless which is exactly what Maxwell replied to my empty post! Good show Maxwell!

I think its like anything else. We will spend money on what we enjoy. I paid $37 a carton for cigs I enjoyed, but the ones I REALLY enjoyed were $60 a carton...2 cartons every 2 weeks...driving the extra 10 miles to get that "reduced" price...extra body spray and air fresheners....the list goes on.

I have spend around $700 in the month that I have been vaping. I have a lot of hardware and will buy more. I have a lot of juices, but will buy more. I am going to buy a DIY kit because that sounds like fun.

I spend money on vaping because I ENJOY it! Being analog free is a huge plus too!

I look at the cost of vaping as two-fold: the cost of "smoking" and hobby/entertainment. When I bought cigarettes, I never worried about my smoke matching my outfit, cared about the cases that much, (well, I did buy one pretty french cigarette case), or got excited about trying the latest flavors. I just went and bought the same old brand at the same old exorbitant price, never on a tremendous sale, ho-hum.

I get entertainment value out of my new hobby that I never got from smoking. My hubby pointed out to me the other night that I am now spending money I used to spend on jewelry, crafting, perfume, and fashion accessories on vaping supplies and accessories. I'm not quite sure how to total that up in cost comparisons and savings.

of course you spend more money at first! its like you are breaking all of the rules....cheating. it *feels* you are smoking still, but you have quit smoking and are getting all kinds of props from your friends and relatives. its so great that you defeated that habit that is ridiculously tough to break! you did it!

you are so happy, you get REALLY into vaping. whats the latest accessory? i have to have it.
potential savings just get you more excited to buy more stuff.
i know i haven't saved any cash.....its about what i would have spent on cigs so i am fine with it.

Ive never done a spreadsheet on it... I know I spend a lot on vaping stuff...but lately Ive been cutting back...there just isnt much more I need right now. Id say I spend on average...oh 50-100 a month now on vaping...which is less than I spent on cigs a month. but at the same times its more of a hobby now! Im not too worried about it. I seem to be leveling off on the spending..but we'll see when new gear comes out...

So far---I would've spent $120 on analogs. Between my kick ... Vapor4Life starter pack and various cartos, I've spent $180. All the stuff I got with my starter pack are things that will last, so in my opinion, they don't really count as much. Take 90 bucks off the top----and it's $120 vs. $90. So yeah, I think I'm saving money.

You have "hard goods" money costs...but what about your time? That has *REAL* value and you'll find (as you break old patterns and habits), you have more of it and of better quality, too No more running off to the "smoking" area of your house or putting a project down to have a cigarette break! You'll breathe easier and move better and you can't put a dollar value on those things

In addition, you have joined an active and supportive family and that's priceless!

After over a year and a half of vaping, I spend approximately 1/4 of what I used to spend on cigarettes. You will all find that once the novelty of vaping wears off, the savings are incredible. Especially considering the additional health and lifestyle benefits which are priceless as previously noted.

Good Idea Snowdragon. After five months I am beginning to taper off ,now that I tried different equipment some good some a total waste of money My favorite equipment after all this is Provari with Map tank, and my ego with modified Ce2 and Ikanvape cartimizers. I also make my own juice and that is my new hobby.

Those videos are what finally UNCONFUSED (is that a word?) me enough to take the leap. After watching them I knew I needed a KR808D-1. The others still confuse me...but then I don't really need to know right now

I'm a penny pincher and I used to maintain a spreadsheet of vaping costs versus smoking cigarettes and the savings for me is huge... several thousands of dollars since Oct of '09. My cost for vaping is around $1.50 to $2.00 a day about 1/4 the cost as Jamvector indicated he was saving.
