I'm so in the hole now, I will not see the light of day from this hobby until about 2021.

But then again, hobbies are supposed to be like that, right?

Not at all. It’s only collecting hobbies – relatively small part of all hobbies.
Some hobbies (like couponing) even generate moneys.
Some hobbies (like drawing) are pretty cheap.

As for my savings – in 5 month I saved not much, something from $200 to $400, but now I am fully equipped to go without any spending for at least several months (I DIY). I do not consider vaping as a hobby, so I can spend saved money on my real hobbies. OK, maybe it is a hobby, but for me it is like drawing – after spending on initial setup kit it is pretty much going for free. A few pencils now and then, a new paper to try…

Holy Moly!!! :D

My signature says @ 12 grand and I believe it with smokes 15 bucks for a 25 pack here and 2 of us smoking pack a day. I could easily say I've spent $2500 on my vape journey not including our 2 provari's and thats no where near the 12 grand we've been spending on smokes for years previous.

Well It feels like I save every day, Because Every day I am not buying the 5$ pack of Cigs.

But at the same time, Ive spent probably over 1000 Bucks on Vaping.

and Ive Saved about 500$ on cigs.
So Vaping costs me more, But, I think I am beginning to calm down recently. Ive got enough juice to last a while. And I have about 1000 dollars of Store credit at a site that I won a prize at.

Ive got my set ups and an authentic mod on the way, as well as 2 atomizers. and two Cloned mechs, as well as 3 atomizers. So I think Ill have my setup of 3 Mechs, 5 batteries, and 5 atomizers, and then I probably only need one real authentic expensive Atomizer (Round 100$) and then I am set. I just gotta find the right Authentic atomizer.

Alot of these signature things allow you to punch in how much you used to smoke to figure out how much you would spend on cigs. Then punch in how much you spend on vaping per month. Then retroactively do the math to give you a (pretty accurate) total of how much you have saved vs smoking. Given how much i have spent on juice mods and coil material and all sorts of goodies... id say im doing well (see sig)

I'd say I'm probably spending more on vaping than I did on smoking right now. I've had some bad luck with cheap atomizers and have had to keep buying them.

My cigs only cost me $7 per carton. 2-3 packs per day. So I was spending about $60 per month or so, give or take a few bucks. Between buying my mechanical mod, all the RDAs I went through to find the one I really like, batteries, charger, a few spools of wire, wicks, DIY juice supplies, etc I've spent a couple hundred bucks in the last 2 months or so I've been consistently vaping.

However, I've found an atomizer I like (Magma clone) and I'm pretty damn happy with my mech mod (Nemesis clone) so I really only need a RTA for when I go out and some more DIY juice supplies. I plan on getting a hybrid kit for my mod, a new stainless locking ring to replace my brass one so it matches my SS Nemmy, a drip tip or 2 and some extra batteries (2 is not enough to last all day literally chain vaping dual coils at 0.6 ohm), then I'll pretty much be set and can start counting up the cash I'm saving instead of making more investments.

I'd say I'm probably spending more on vaping than I did on smoking right now.

It goes away. I have easily spent a grand on vaping when i started. Trying all the juices to find my taste. Trying all sorts of mods to find the one that works the best for me. Buying a dozen spools of temco kanthal and all the batteries and such.

But its all initial investment. Short of keeping up with battery technology and the occasional mod i barely spend more than 20 - 30 dollars a month now. And its almost all on juices...

Once you get your kit locked down the expense drops significantly...

NOW... With that said...

Vaping can VERY easily be a HOBBY as well. And thats a totally different kind of expense. If you find yourself constantly buying new attys and tips and mods cause you like it then its no longer really a part of your "how much am i saving smoking" budget. Its you now spending money on a hobby you enjoy. And i don't think that should necessarily be frowned upon. But i also think that the two types of expenses do deserve to be distinguished from one another.

I'm definitely looking at it as an investment. That's the main reason I went with a mech mod over a VW. I can pretty much leave it in a house fire or flood, get it back, change some insulators and springs and minor parts and be good. Not finding a decently powered VW that's not a box was the other reason, lol.

I agree. It's definitely become more of a hobby than I planned on. But aside from the stuff I listed, I think I'm pretty well settled into what I'll be using.

I actually got lucky and LOVE my Nemesis which is the only mod I've bought. I tried my friend's who got into vaping a few months before me and liked it so I bought one. I don't have a crunchy switch or anything, just flawless performance with no modification. I've been looking at maybe getting an Anarchist mod, but I doubt I'll actually even do that. But maybe if I come into some extra money....

Way more of a hobby than I planned, lol.

I love box mods. I have nothing against tube. And as soon as VW mods started to give the kind of power mechs could i stopped using them all together. I never liked not having wattage control and often used a kick so that i could.

Im kind of a fan boy for Sigelei, Using the 20 watt tube when it first came out, then the 30, And now the 100 watt box mod. And given 100 watts is crazy given even when i cloud chase (which is not often) i only get up to about 75 - 80 watts.

So for my all day vape i use a plume veil with dual 26 gauge coils on it at .7 - .8 ohms. Pop in two efest 2500s (35amp sustained 60 pulse) and i go ALL day on that. And i do mean ALL day. I vape... ALOT.

The construction quality from sigelei is top notch. those ipv boxes are just poo im just glad i got to try them before buying them.

So i have two attys i use in regular rotation, the zenith v2 and the plume veil. And now given my 100 watt box mod. I have no intention of buying anything for a long long while. I have hundreds of feet of kanthal at all gauges tons of japanese organic cotton plenty of spare parts. I doubt ill spend more than 20 - 30 bucks a month on juice from here on out. More than likely less with all the deals out there diy stuff.

I mean. There is a ceiling to this sort of thing. No one needs 200 watts or 300 watts... And even then battery tech as it stands won't allow that sort of amperage. And again... You can't vape realistically at those numbers its just not sensible. So short of waiting for a 18650 battery that can do 35amp continuous 65 pulse AND have something crazy like 5000mah... Theres just no real room to improve on what we do. At least not reasonably for anything more than "holy .... look what i can do!"

Just my opinions of course.

I don't really feel like Vaping is really a cheaper alternative. The initial setup is expensive. Finding your ADV is expensive (some it takes months upon months, took me 8). I probably have three gallons of juice I'll never use. New mods, new RDAs, RTAs all of which claim to be the new most fabulous thing. DIY has an expensive start up, I don't care if you spend .06c per ML, chances are you've wasted tons of money trying to figure a juice mix that is vapeable.

I like vaping because I like the variety in flavors, and the (hopeful) health factor. Not because it's cheaper.
