Hi all, Interesting read on this question. I've quit smoking about 4 weeks ago and switched straight to vape and while I've spent well over $500 so far, I think that the majority of that is just a learning curve in figuring out tanks and batteries. I'm going to sluff it a little bit and start calculating my savings vs/ cigarettes once I am confident that I found a tank/battery combo that I'm happy with.
Well started a couple of years ago with some vapor4life 808 starter kit (about $70) and bought a bunch of carts. Went well for a month or two and then picked analogs back up. About a month ago I decided that those underpowered devices just didn't cut it. After a ton of research bought a $50 Vamo (in Stainless), a Kanger Protank ($15), and some juice. Also bought some extra heads for the Protank ($7). Already had AW 18650 batteries for a flashlight I have and also had a Pila charger for those same batteries so I'm not counting those items toward the vaping expenses The Vamo has kept me ciggy free for a month now and WOW what a world of difference over those old V4L 808 batteries. Nothing to be scared of going with variable voltage/wattage and personally I think those really increase your chances of not smoking again when compared to the lower powered devices out there.

Started at the end of May, spent about $300 so far on hardware and ~$30 on accessories. Oof.
I agree. I don't really like to buy eJuice that I can't sample first because I want to make sure I like them. So I go to local stores here in Vegas that have sampling. I have spent about $150 for all my husbands and my supplies.
For many, the spending tapers off a lot after the first couple of months. I don’t think I have spent a dime in the last two months.
I DIY my own juices and do largish batches to allow for steeping. I have enough equipment and parts to last me at least another 2 or 3 months and nothing has really caught my eye as a must have item right now.
Sure, a lot of new items come out all the time but I don’t need anything right now. If, for instance, in a month, I need a new RBA (already have three backups that are unopened), I am sure a newer and better model or version will be out that just blows the current one out of the water.
Bottom line is, vaping can get very pricy or it can be very cost effective. Your choice.

I have very recently started vaping, and it's not so much the amount of money itself that bothers me, it's the amount of money I feel I have wasted. At a local B&M I bought a very cheap ($15 for 1 battery, charger and 2 cartos) cigarette look alike style and thought, wow, this is nice, just not satisfying. Then I saw they also sold a kit with a eGo style kit with 1 battery, 1 tank and a charger for $40. I jumped. It was much better, but I decided I needed another battery so bought another kit. Also, the carto tanks were $9 each. They said I should get 2 months use out of one. Um, no not really, they got bad after only a couple days, and I had to buy more. Then I decided to look online and found that I can buy the same setups for a fraction of the cost, and much better setups at a still lower price. So I feel I really wasted well over $100 at that shop getting started, but at least I got started. Been about 2 weeks without smoking analogs at all. Long winded, I know, but thanks for reading
In the 7 weeks or so that I've been vaping, I've probably invested some where in the mid $500 range. I bought a generic Ego style batt starter setup on my first day of vaping, a Vision spinner kit the very next day (my wife is still using the Ego batt,) an iTaste MVP about a week later, and an iTaste SVD a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, I started doing my research AFTER my first purchase, hence the multiple PV upgrades in quick succession. Also, lots of juice, cartos, tanks, etc. Still, better than when I was spending $60-$80 per week on cigars and accessories, which was an ongoing proposition.
More than I care to admit. A conservative guess would be upwards of 1200+ in the last 3 months. Evics, Titan mech, Provari mini, Zmax, Nibus RBA and other items are at fault including juice, atty's, Pila chargers, etc
in the last week I've spent close to 200 in getting 100% set up. Simple set up, a couple of blingy drip tips, lots of juice, phoenix ravens nest carto, a few vivi's, and a spare charger
Hear Hear Andy! I too have spent WAYYYYYY too much - thus my need to attend some sort of "Vape-a-holics Anonymous" group for my deluge of PV's and juice. lol
About 500$ in 6 months, including about 1/2 liter of various regular priced juices. I'm doing fine with my ego batteries (4 of various sizes, depending on where I'm going, how long I'll be away...) and Vivi tank. I would like to enhance my vaping experience, but the price tag of these nice mods/clearos and such is way too high...

2k enough to get you a cavalera. I know a friend of mine who willing to give his for roughly 1.7k

I'm about 7 weeks in and have spent about $400. I now have about 6 full setups of various configurations. My 6th is confirmed as sitting in my mailbox at home while I'm stuck at work! It's my first APV, a Vamo V2, a couple of ProTanks, batteries and toys!!
Of course, the flip side to that is I would have completely burned up and have nothing to show for it, about $420 worth of analogs in that same period of time. Instead, I have a buddy at work borrowing one of my setups to see if he likes the vapin' thing and lots of backups!!

This topic reminds me of the guy who sold me my first kit : you'll see, you're going to make huge savings with ecigs!!! Yeah... right... :d
Oh yeah, and also, thanks for spending so much, it makes me feel less bad about my own very reasonable spending
