I love my hardware and aside from the odd new battery if one feels a bit 'dodgy', i don't really buy hardware anymore. I do, however, seem to have spent a fortune on juice to try! I have a backlog im never going to use! Diying is just as bad as there are so many possibilities! Im determined to be good for a couple of months and then I'll break even but that's because i rolled my own and it was cheaper...x

If I actually HAD to, I could buy 120ml of juice and 10 cartos and get thru a month for 80.00. BUT, since I have to have several different juices, a variety of cartos/tanks and attys/ and usually 1 or 2 new devices each month I end up spending alot more. But, it is possible to vape on a budget and save alot of money vs smoking.

I think it took me about 6 months to kinda level out and about a year to break even..... but certainly not because it needed to be that way.....

I started out keeping track of my spending but gave up because the news wasn't that good, savings-wise, if you can't fix it, quit looking at it...... my approach to lots of things....

Now I know I am saving money and not smoking so all is good.....

Of course tomorrow I could all of a sudden go on a shopping spree, but would still be money ahead......

I'm only vaping for two weeks now and so far I'm pretty satisfied with my Ego Twists. However a ProVari seems more appealing every day and I'll probably end up with one. I've spent €210,- so far. That is for two batteries, two clearomizers and spare heads, a charger, 130ml premixed juice and ejuice base for about 800ml. I'll probably need to spent another € 350,- so I can start DIY'ing. After that I hope I'm done spending for the next three months or so.

I'm retired at 62. 3 months back on Nov 5th I had my last cig after 50 years smoking heavily. I've blown $1041 on Vaping in the 3 months, as shown below.
I love vaping instead of smoking tobacco; and my body, friends and family love it too! Its real relaxing.... indoors, where you like to relax!
Theres a learning curve. The forums help but it takes time to make sense of all that info. Hope this helps someone save some money/time.
I wish I'd only bought the items in bold italics, totalling $380. Oh well.....
Liquids aside, all you need is a ViVi Nova and a Vamo battery set. Or equivalents. Plus cotton wick material and Kanthal wire.
Liquids: its cheaper to buy the VG, PG and Nic liquid in big bottles. I reckon what I have below in yellow will last me (a heavy vaper now :) a year or 2. I might need more VG,
but thats the easy one....Walmart, cheap. Careful with the 100 mg/ml Nic liquid expiry date, and keep it off your skin while mixing.
Flavors. Walmart liquid food flavors works. The ecig suppliers stuff on-line works better but the snailmail gets old. Its a matter of taste preference. Suck it and see:) Theyre cheap, and its fun.
Use 'ejuice me up' calculator for mixing recipe calculations... works real good. Round all the numbers.... it aint rocket science. Use a 5 ml syringe and glass dropper bottles.
The cotton wick material below works real good in the ViVi Nova only IF you cut little V notches in the rubber cap that clamps down over the wick holder.
Otherwise that rubber stops the liquid flowing along the wick thro the coil. Forget silica (glass fibers in your throat/lungs?). Forget SS... its conductive! Use this cotton.
Theres rewicking, recoiling videos on Utube for rebuilding the ViVi Nova. Its a piece of cake.... I use no tools at all now, just fingers and nails. Takes 5 minutes which
is just as well because a cotton wick is only good for 2 full tanks (6ml) then, like all wicks, you replace it or fiiddle around cleaning it which takes longer than fitting a new piece.
If you insist on cleaning it 'in situ', scrape it gently with the sharp tip of a box knife to get some crud loose then wash under tap. Check for short circuits before firing up!
Tips: When new, boil the cotton spagetti in bulk then dry; totally soak the wick in juice before filling the tank; flame the wire so it wraps 5 turns easy and loose on a paper clip; no dry burning,
shake your liquids frequently and keep 'em cool; if you disturb a coil always meter check for short circuits before connecting to any battery,
throw away the stock ViVi Nova wick material and coil, and especially the little fiberglass insulator they put in there over the coil to stop shorts. Glass/Silica in wicks (lungs) is a no no IMHO.
I like cotton candle wick because its tight weave keeps particle shed minimal (I've checked with a 30X glass). Sure there are better wickers.... they shed sharp ...., or short...or something :)
My theory is that a) less shedding is better b) soft, boiled, natural fiber shedding is better than hard/sharp because it should cough up more easily.... hairball! U gotta better theory?
Because I bought the Greensmoke gear first, I leave their stuff in my car and boat and use their USB/12v adapters. It is so convenient... no batteries, good cartomizers, little particle shedding.
Greensmoke is nowhere near as good a vape, and expensive, so if I hadnt rashly bought that stuff I'd be pocketing my Vamo/Vivi for the car/boat...everywhere. I don't much trust readymades.
By the way, you can condom refill Greensmoke cartos, or pop the tight white cap and drip refill. But not if youve had 'burnt' taste already... it lingers. I open unburned ones and boil them, then dry.

I did the math earlier today for another post, mainly because I dig numbers. I don't go through a lot of juice (1-2 ml a day) and I don't like a warm vape, so I don't wind up wanting a lot of the nifty VVs, mods, and tanks everyone else drools over.

"Equipment is just under $100, juice is just under $50. Add in shipping, take away discounts, and I'm in for $152 and change right now. I have enough juice on hand to get me through 1.5 months or so. Since I'm two weeks in to this grand experiment, that means I'll have $152 in for 8 weeks of vape.

Had I gone the route of the patch, I would put in $162 for an 8 week course of the store brand after sales tax. If I kept smoking, I would spend $196 on 8 weeks of analogs (they're cheap in the south)."

I'm new to this, and so far I've spent quite a bit of cash.

I got a ProVari, some tanks, some cartos, some juices, and have more juices in the mail.

Since I discovered this hobby less then 2 weeks ago I've easily spent over $400.

I HOPE that this is due to the fact that I've had....wanted to buy some high end stuff initially so I don't have to keep ordering additional stuff in the future.

It seems the more I lurk, the more I desire.

Once you have a good setup and enough toys, does the spending go down dramatically?

What do you think you spend each month on vaping? Are you ever TRULY satisfied with what you have, or should I plan on working more overtime?:p

I bought a Provari with a cirrus pyrex tank setup on day 1 and loved it. On my second week, a vape store was selling a GGTS with Z-atty G; and offered to consign my Provari so at least it wont be shedding to much cash. And loved it more! A month after I was craving for my provari, so I ended up buying another Provari.

With all the vaping stuff that i bought I'm @ about $1000 dollar borderline specially that I discovered my favorite e-juice. I've been trying every butterscotch flavor that i can and waiting some from COV.. Yumyum.

Yup this hobby is a money put GrimRep_er.

For sure this a cancer in the wallet and it is growing fast.

I was spending $105.00 on average on analogs a week, now I take the money every day and put it in my desk at work. I use the money on vaping. I just started my initial investment was around $460.00 so far. I figured I will be spending about $45 a week on juice and tanks until I have a stock pile built up then around $15 a week to maintain the stock pile. With that said I will be buying a new boat at the end of the year with the savings, $400 a month will will cover the payment and the money I have saved this year will cover the down.

Myself I set a "reward" for quitting analogs for 1 year, witch I will never go back to those nasty things after smoking for 15 years.
