Yo guys i just ordered a joye ego kit from jack at happyvaper.com and i just wanted to ask u guys since it seems like u guys know alot, how much money will i be saving compared to buying real cigarettes? I spend about $10 every 2 days on real cigs and it seems like between the starter kit, juices, flavours and having to replace batteries and atomizers after a whe that vaping is more expensive then smoking analogs. Am i just overwhelmed with the starting cost or does vaping actually save u guys money? Let me know what u guys think.

Welcome to ECG, Dmoney. The initial start up costs are more than smoking, no question. It's an investment, though. I'm investing in my health and happiness and the health and happiness of those around me. Once some of the trial and error is over and you've settled into what works for you, you can save significantly. It takes a while to get to that point. For me, after 30 years, I'm not smoking and that is priceless.

It hasn't saved me money either but this is by my choice. I was buying 4 cartons of smokes a month and when I started vaping, I took that budget and started spending it on vaping products. I now have about 5 devices and several flavors/tips/etc.

Using only my allowed money for cigarettes, I have not spent more moeny on vaping than I did cigs. Now, I've only been vaping for a little over a month so at some point in time I will be happy with what I have and i will stop spending so much on it. I figure in the future if I keep it to a few attys here and there, a flavor a week, just the necessary items, I will come out ahead without even trying.

Right now I'm more in a "Hey I love this vaping stuff! Want more!" mode than I am a "Lets save money" mode though. This works well for me though because I can buy all this vaping stuff guilt free. I'm sure if your drive to vap was financial than you won't feel the way that I do but hey, I'm having a good time!

Getting set up and finding what you like and what works for you is a little expensive. By a little expensive I'm talking maybe slightly more than you would be paying for cigarettes if you were smoking. I've been going a year and have spent less than smoking even with going overboard on getting bunches of Mods out there. If you can find one good setup that you enjoy and don't buy any other equipment, other than Attys, batteries, and liquid you should be looking at spending 20 to 30%, maybe even less, what you were spending on cigarettes. So yes there is a large savings changing to vaping

Well I don`t know that I`ll ever benefit monetarily from vaping, or at least for a long time I`m sure. Ecigs are still very new, and I believe the equipment we are using now will just keep evolving for a while, and we will be paying along the way if we want less hassle and more convenience. :2c:

I don't think it actually saved me money since there are too many good mods out there, lol well, I am down to 2 silver bullets and 1 Omega . after all the batts, atty's, juice etc etc its about the same or more for me.
I was a 10-12 cig a day so I was not spending that much on cig anyways, but i'm happy to spend it on vaping vs cigarettes .

The initial outlay is intimidating, yeah, but if you buy smart and take care of your stuff (and avoid getting addicted to trying different ones!), it is cheaper.

I only spent $50 a month on smoking. I used bulk rolling tobacco, rice paper, skinny filters, and my fingers.

I've just spent $100 on a Kr8 kit, 2 extra batteries, 5 blank cartos (11 total), e-juice, and DIY juice stuff. I'm broke, and I really like my Kr8, so I see no reason to buy other models and fancy kit. This is it for me.

That should last me 4-6 months if I take care of it. I may have to buy more cartos, but that's it.

So, yeah, it's cheaper. Way cheaper.

I had to laugh out loud when I read your question. Like most newbies here I'm still experimenting and discovering new stuff to buy. I feel I've been successful when I don't order something within a 24 hr. period.

However I smoked 8-10 cartons of analogs a month. Even when I went to Indiana to get them that's a little over $600. So although it seems now like my new obsession will break the bank, I'm still ahead and I really, really, likely could go a while before running out of anything.

But I hear those websites calling my name...

Ive saved money - but I didnt start this to save money tbh, I was feeling ill on cigs but didnt want to get rid of them all together. I know that sounds insane lol Im sure non (as in never) smokers think we're all brain dead unless they have a vice (like coffee or drink or gambling) they can't shift.
I got the basic nobox kit from cignot for $35 and threw in a PT and a couple juices as well so shipping was free.
One carton of cigs was costing me around $25 btw. I had one carton a week.
That was all I bought for a couple of weeks then I got some new juices, I think I spent around $40 on those - so I was still ahead on cash.
Then again I didnt buy anything for another couple of weeks when I saw some new juices I wanted to try (lol yes Im a juice hound), so maybe another $40-50 there. (probably about evens at this point, maybe still a bit ahead)
Then for about 2 months I bought nothing.
Last month I got more juice and a mod, (came to around $100 about the same as Id have spent on smokes) and this month I got an ego with a charger (about $30, less than a months worth of cigs).

So you see, although Im still fairly new (6 months in I see myself as still newish) I have already saved cash - and this is NOT including the fact that Ive had less illness this year since vaping, no flu, only one cold all year, (so no over the counter cold relievers) and no sinus infections. That last one means also no doctors visits - another saving!
I could go nuts and buy another mod (in fact Im going to treat myself at some point in the next month or 2) but Ive been pacing it because I *am* happy with all the kit I currently own, I just fancy a bit more power lol.

I think it all depends on what you spent on smoking, and buying cigarettes. The health benefit can not have a cost attached. (maybe by an insurance company)

I was smoking 2.5 packs a day, and at about $7.00/pack, that works out to over $500 a month, or as like like to say the car payment on a new Mercedes. It is amazing the way our priorities work.

I could buy a new EGO and 3-4 30ml of juice EVERY WEEK and still come out better. It is all about how much you spent before.

Overall, including equipment outlay, I've saved about 35% (excel spread sheet) and I have ~5 months worth of supplies. Some people save more, some people spend more. I was lucky- I found the e-cig that worked for me on the first try (manual kr8). Heck, I wasn't even planning to stop smoking.

You'll most likely get to a point where you're not spending much. Once you get through the learning curve and find the model(s) and configuration that works for you. But for the first few months it might make more sense to budget about the same that you spent on combustible cigs. Feeling like you have the freedom to experiment enough to get through the learning curve will make it more likely for you to be able to shift to vaping without stress.
