I'm not really worried about the money I spend so much, the numbers for vaping is a really rough estimate since I am new too. So far going into my 4th day, I don't see myself spending more than$1000 realistically this year on vaping. With that said, there are so many options and variations to factor in, so who knows? :D I still think its going to save money in the long run and definitely save my lungs when I have to pass my fitness test.

Congrats, and keep it up! But on your 4th day of vaping? I would say give it a month or two or three, then perhaps budget in some more for more hardware. Even if you find the one you love at first, you'll need backups. When I was a few weeks in, my first device died, and I had to smoke. I didn't like it one bit.

Don't do what I did and buy an ecig that looks like a real cigarette for ANY MONEY unless your are positive that you can't get anything better for the money. And if that isn't enough then at least buy a 510 e-cigarette that will give you somewhat better battery life.

Although i've saved almost 150 this month (first month of vaping) I wouldn't rush to get something as quickly in retrospect. An E-Cigarette that only satisfies me about 75% of what I was smoking shouldn't be so difficult to get working on a daily basis. Having to recharge every 20 min is not worth the hassle, neither is the constant changing of cartos and screwing into the pcc. While it was my fault for my so-so first month i still stand by the idea that people want something that they can use to exactly replicate the experience of smoking. Somehow I've made it till today, while it was a "not bad" first month of vaping, I cannot wait the 5 more days until i get to order something that is going to kick up a few levels. Maybe a Silver Bullet and a MAP tank mod. MUAHAHA!

I spend about 8-9g's around a year after my calculations, 2/3 packs a day give or take.

While, I am new to this and living off a kit my friend lent me, until I find a good Canadian Supplier for e-juice. I can already see the savings. The greatest bonus we can atleast cutback from the crap that analogs have making e-cigs in general great bargain for the buck.

Note: im not a pro or chemist, still new. But not blind that going this route is better than my older ways.

I bought a $20 kit at 7-11. I am only 24 hours into it but I already have paid almost 1/3 of it off. I haven't stopped smoking analogs either. I should purchase a second for the battery (and parts) and will need more carts soon but thus far, even with smoking analogs, I save $3 per day. A second starter kit may pay off because since I have had it, it has died 2x and both were in my heavy smoking periods of the day.

I know it's too soon to tell but I know this month that it will pay off with the kit I have without a doubt, unless I don't try. Much sooner if I commit more. I will likely upgrade but that is something I earn for myself. I know it's too early to tell but I have been paying a lot of attention to cost (main reason I started) and with a cheaper kit with cheaper refills, it should be quick if I just use it more often than not. Even if one breaks, the cost is only 2 days of smoking for me, and that lasts 5 days, thus far, right out the box.

    It's totally up to you. You can make vaping as expencive as you want.

    Right now I am using a little box mod that I made myself. Cost $5.07. Sitting on my desk is a 5v pass through. Cost $10.00.
    In the morning I might grab the SB. Cost $85.00. Or I might run down to ENS an buy a new SS Don. Costs $149.00.

    Right now I am using a LR boge carto. Cost $1.25. In the morning I might screw on a HH 357. Cost $22.00.

    Would you like to talk about the prices of juice?

    Yo guys i just ordered a joye ego kit from jack at happyvaper.com and i just wanted to ask u guys since it seems like u guys know alot, how much money will i be saving compared to buying real cigarettes? I spend about $10 every 2 days on real cigs and it seems like between the starter kit, juices, flavours and having to replace batteries and atomizers after a whe that vaping is more expensive then smoking analogs. Am i just overwhelmed with the starting cost or does vaping actually save u guys money? Let me know what u guys think.

    $ 50 Starter Kit
    $ 40 - 2 batterys after 1 year
    $365- 365 ml liquid ~$365 (inflated price)
    $120 5 cartomizers/month
    ------
    $575 vs $1825 @ $5/day

    Reality should actually be less with frugal shopping.

    I think you have to take the long view on this one. Over a lifetime, which will hopefully be longer with vaping, you will save tons and tons of money. I'm only two months in with vaping, have probably spent 7-8 hundred so far, maybe 6 months worth of smoking. I expect things will settle down now that I have the mods I like, the juice suppliers to use, attys/cartos/tanks, etc.
    Cost will become an issue when the big tobacco companies get in the game, soon I expect. Government will then start paying attention and taxes/regulation will escalate vaping costs dramatically.

    I've been keeping track- through all the mods I've bought then sold since I started vaping in Mar 2011. (And I have gone through quite a few...!)
    To date- I have saved $345.61, and that climbs by $9.50 a day (the price of an analog pack on Long Island, NY)
    I have enough supplies to last me into mid-late 2012! BUT......

    Hardest thing I found is I REALLY ENJOY this forum and the people- but the temptation to buy, even when nothing is needed, is really tough to fight off.

    Smokes here were up to 11.50 a pack and I was smoking a little less than 2 packs a day. Have spent 500 dollars on vaping since I have started at the end of May so have saved over 1100 in a little less than 4 months. Started vaping for my health and fell so much better 4 months later but that money saved is quite a nice bonus lol.

    I've been vaping for seven months now and am pretty much over finding the combinations of hardware and e-liquids that really hit the sweet spot for me. Except for the occasional odd, "try it out" purchase, I can now calculate what I spend per week on consumables.

    I mostly use eGo/Riva type batteries with 510 echo-e cartomizers and Top Vapes and Dekang e-liquids. I assume I'll eventually lose a battery after a conservative 150 recharges. A single recharge lasts about half a day (I chain-vape). I figure echo-e cartos will die after 10 cleanings, but I've only had to pitch one, even after more than 10 cleanings. An echo-e carto needs to be cleaned weekly, and I use four or five different ones during any week. I seem to vape about 3 ml. per day, and I buy bigger bottles of e-liquid to keep down the per-ml. cost.

    So, on a weekly basis (7 days), my normal consumption is:

    amortization of $20 batteries: $ 1.86
    amortization of failed cartos: $ 1.80
    e-liquid (21 ml. per week): $ 8.40

    TOTAL: $ 12.06 per week

    I could get that down somewhat by DIYing my e-liquids, which I'll start doing within the next few months.

    I used to be a two cartons per week smoker, at $54.00 per carton, for a total of $108.00 per week.

    Huge difference, as far as the consumables are concerned. But there's always that new flavor or new mod or new carto design . . .
