Hi all,

I'm now analog free for 3 days and been vaping about 3 weeks and find myself vaping a lot more then when I was suplementing my vaping with analogs. I start in the morning and pretty much chain vape until I go to bed. I've resorted to making my own e-liquid with the help of the folks over in the DYI E-juice forum and have come up with some really good mixtures. My nic content is 24 which is what I was vaping when I bought commercial juice. I find myself vaping over 3ml a day. My questions are as follows:

Is that to much?
Are there side effects I should be looking for?
How many ML's are eqivelent to a pack of cigarette as far as NIC content?

Any advice or guidance would be welcome.

I've killed 6-9 mL a day back when I was vaping 18 and 12mg, its fine, but check with your physician if you have blood pressure issues.....that would be my suggestion. Also if you feel woozy or extra light headed all the time, that is a pretty good sign that you should cut back. The nicotine induced by vaping is absorbed at a much smaller ratio that other methods, so most of the time you should be good. I've also seen over-drippers kill 15 mL bottles like a 5 hour energy shot, so most of the time its gonna be ok.

It's really up to you how much is to much. When I started vaping I was vaping 15ml a day. I weened it down slowly to 4-8ml a day. Everyone is different, and will use different amounts. Just like when smoking some smoked more or less than others. There is no right or wrong answer to this question UNLESS of course you are making yourself sick. If you start to feel dizzy or nauseous then you are possibly ODing on nic and need cut back.

IMO you are not vaping too much. Hell, if it's keeping you off tobacco I'm not sure the term "too much" is applicabe here. As far side effects go...I would think other than the small possibility of an allergic reaction to PG or VG you (we all) need to be mindful of dehydration. drink plenty of water throughout the day and you should be fine. I believe 18-24mg falls right in range of the PAD smoker depending on cig strength (ultra lights, full flavor etc) and the average person seems to be vaping between 3-5 ml per day.

I wouldn't class 3ml per day as high.
I went through exactly the same thing you describe. Weeks 2-3, I seemed to be vaping 24/7. But then suddenly I just seemed to slow down. I think it's part of the smoking withdrawal and your body getting used to a different nicotine delivery system.
I vape 24mg nic all the time too.

I did the same thing, I use the same mg nic as you do. I have since slowed down now that my body is used to getting the nic it wants. Now I vape about 2ml per day, on stressful days I vape 3ml.

When I was vaping that much I would get a tightness in my chest, once I slowed down that went away. I was also vaping 100% VG when I started, I have now gone down to a 50/50 mix and I haven't had the tightness anymore.

I think that I vaped more because I was worried that it wasn't going to work, that I would eventually want to go back to analogs, once I realized that I was finally over the analogs I slowed way down and now I just vape when I feel like it. :D

No worries danny, I think that a lot of us tend to over-vape in the beginning but once we realize that our addiction to analogs is gone we all slow down. Some people just chain vape and that's okay too. I think 10ml of e-juice a day is better than any stinking analog any day lol. IMHO

Thank you everyone that puts my mind at ease. I use clearomizers so I get a pretty accurate count of how many ml's I use. I don't get light headed and feel perfectly fine at the end of the day. That is except for the day I came up with a really good mix of my own and vaped 3mi in like 8 hours and got a little light headed. Any research I've done on vaping suggest that it's 1000% safer then analogs so I feel good about that and I think after 40 years of somking a pack and a half a day I'm finally off those analogs for good.

Your body will tell you when you've had too much nicotine. It's very obvious. Hiccups, headaches, sore muscles, dizzyness, heart palpitations, antsy feeling, etc. A lot of the constant vaping in the beginning is because your body is still used to all of the chemicals that are in cigarrettes. Since ejuice only has nicotine in it, your body is still craving the other alkaloids and toxins present in cigs. Also there's the "new toy syndrome".

Personally, even three months after quitting cigs I was still craving something. I'd get overloaded on nicotine but it just never satisfied me. This is why there are whole tobacco alkaloid juices being made now. I eventually ventured into the world of snus and went from 3-4mL of juice per day down to 3mL a week. Not saying you should go that route, but it's one many have explored due to vaping just not hitting the spot.

As for the math.. Lets presume you absorb 25% of the nicotine in the vapour you inhale, and that your cigs provided you 1mg of total nicotine absorbed.

At 4mL per day, 24mg/mL nic, that's a total of 96mg of nicotine. 25% Of this nicotine is absorbed, which equals 24mg absorbed. This is basically one pack of cigs that provide 1mg nic each. In reality, you're probably getting less nicotine than this but your body will adjust. At first I felt 18mg/mL did nothing for me, now I'm at 12mg/mL and I still notice that I get too much nicotine if I chain vape.

WOW Great information. I did'nt know that as far as those NIC numbers go even chain vaping the way I am I'm actually taking in way less NIC a day then when I was on analogs. I am also not getting the cravings that I though I would be getting. This is what made me through out my half full pack of cigarettes 3 days ago and so far have not missed them.

Thanks so much for the great info ridethespiral.
