Its obvious that the goal is to quit smoking cigarettes. Reading the original post would state that OP would like to rid themself of an addiction.

Andria, you are pro-vaping. You are an enthusiast, and I base that on the list of devices you own. Not everyone is like that.

As far as saving money is concerned, I'll put it like this. You buy a mech that was originally $150 but went on sale for $100. You're not saving $50, you're spending $100.

And in the real world, there are some people who can "just quit". Not you or I, obviously.

I would never spend $100 on ANY mod! I spent $39.95 for one mech, and $34.95 for the other (in fact $39.95 is the highest price I've paid for any mod), the best price I could find online for either (a Fallen Angel (EA Mod clone) and a Smok Galileo). Really I got those as vapocalypse insurance -- even if all my regulated mods die, the kicks inside the mechs die, and/or the stupid FDA makes it so that vaping devices are impossible to get, I'll still have 2 devices capable of vaping as *I* choose, and rebuildable tanks to put on them, for years to come.

My husband is one of those "just quit" people. Infuriating, aren't they. Most cigarette smokers don't fall into that camp -- some of them can't even manage it with e-cigs! But addictions are permanent -- just because you stop doing something, doesn't mean you're not addicted anymore. I've had to live with that with my alcoholism for 22 yrs now; since there is a wonderful and effective alternative to the suffering of cold-turkey cigarette quitting, I intend to stick with that unless/until it begins to cause me as much harm as cigarettes did -- which seems rather unlikely. If there was anything of that nature available for alcoholism, I'd be doing that too, but unfortunately absolute abstention is the only "cure." Thank goodness that's no longer true of cigarette addiction -- vaping makes a splendid substitute!

It is *totally* possible to vape and vape WELL and save money. If I wasn't spending it on vape gear, I'd be spending it on cigarettes -- a WHOLE LOT more than I spend on vape gear, which I would then turn into ashes. If I ever stop vaping (and spending money on vaping)... I'll either be dead, or I'll be back to smoking within a week.

I don't mean to be rude but I didn't ask for your life story. You've completely missed my point and the point of this thread.

LOL shinyitis? I could see that. It's almost like someone could say I have it too. I just recently started on a mod and have several and attys too. Mine could be more like dumbitis. As much research as I did on stuff I really bought alot of the wrong things.I never should have bought that colonial mod and it's just gonna sit there and rust. probably never should have bought those two patriot attys either. I wanted a stingray to start with and should have gotten a stingray first. I guess maybe the attys were a different story, but I spent a few bucks I shouldn't have. I'll admit it too, I made some mistakes.
the Important thing to me now is I quit smoking. Now to remember to have backup supplys when I'm at work so I can vape and not run a battery out without a spare, even perhaps take 2 mods just in case, etc...so I don't feel the need/urge to bum a smoke. it's not that I want to smoke either. The few times this year I did smoke, they tasted like garbage LOL

It's been about two months now quiting smoking but vaping is more money. Is it to much to waste money on this or just wait till I get off cigs for good. I started with a mvp then istick then ipv. Now I just ordered a rdna from vaper shark. Maybe I'm just changing smoking to buying. How long does the averted smoker quit everything for good?

That's a decision you need to make for yourself. I've seen a lot of vapers post how they set a budget based on how much they spent on cigs, putting money aside and tracking their spending.

When I started, I went a bit hog wild buying a LOT of different setups, and I found it started slowing down after the first six months or so even though I was still looking for (and buying) new equipment.

Now I have a prepaid credit card that I use for vape-related purchases. I put about 50% of what I would be spending on cigarettes on the card every week and use that for purchases. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with my collection now, but I still keep an eye out for new stuff and sales.

1) Find everything that you love and works for you and stick with it. The gear you bought should last 2 years at least.
2) Stock up on some very tasty juice, but also some very cheap one. Get some Suicide Bunny and some Hangsen too. You can find Hangsen at $3.75 for 30ml on Fasttech.
3) Install 'Vape': https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andy.vape

Do a total, it will tell you when you break even with money.
Stop buying until you're well over your break even.

Enjoy more health and more money.

When I switched I think for a lot of people at time, it was like an investment of about a years worth of smoking.

Meanwhile, by the way, you are also being targeted for products; all that money that smokers used to spend is being targeted by the industry.
There's
- replacement batteries
- eliquid
- replacement atomizer heads for clearos

eliquid alone could end up costing as much as smoking used to cost.

I think it's a lot better now compared to when I switched.

Meanwhile there's numerous ways to cut down the recurrent costs:

- diy eliquid, from simple to full blown
- rta's and rda's to get away from buying replacement coil heads
- and you can even cut down on battery costs by getting something like the provape passthrough, or the innokin drv, or rigging something up yourself.

As for hardware, whatever else you end up with, having a modular mech and an rda can be a pretty bulletproof backup.

This. The shinyitis never really goes away. I'm always looking at new products. I just kind of have to convince myself "do I reeeeeeaaaaaallly need another atty after I /just/ bought a veritas?"

Also hands down the biggest money saver you can do is to get into diy as quick as possible. I went from buying 30-40$ bottle of juice to putting down about 150$ dollars in juice supplies which has lasted almost a year. There is a bit of a learning curve but it is well worth the effort :)

Needvisine, might take you some time to figure out where you want to take this. Are you vaping simply as a means of being smokefree or is vaping going to be a new hobby as well?

Do you want to spend your extra money on shiny vaping stuff? Go ahead, nothing wrong with that. Would you rather put it towards a new truck, Coach purse, pay down mortgage faster, nice vacation or whatever you can dream up? Everything you decide to do with the money is a good choice.

Thank you for the link to the app. This is the first app I ever installed that didn't ask permissions to anything. Can't wait to see how good/bad I'm doing on expenses.

I got into vaping to save money.... I went from spending $5.25 a day, now 8 months later my average is $3.36 per day a dropping.
Sure vaping can be more expensive than smoking...... Mainkly because of the toys and the simple fact that people tend to vape MORE than they smoked. I find that if you vape for flavor and to deliver nicotine, NOT clouds, you do save money. Remeber the cloud you must produce to deliver a cigarettes level of nicotine, does not need to be bigger than the one from the cigarette. Often the cloud from the vape will be less. IMO, cost is proportional to the cloud you generate. Flavor and nic delivery do NOT require max clouds or high power levels. Cloud generation requires is expensive, nic delivery is cheap, flavor lies somewhere in between.

Face it. We're all addicted to Vaping or else we wouldn't be in this forum, posting like this in the first place. Just kick back and enjoy. lol

I wouldn't say "addicted". I think many of us are excited because, like me, they've finally found something that actually got us off cigarettes, and it's turned into a new hobby.

In the long run vaping is a lot cheaper than smoking. The two of us stopped completely and so far we have saved about 2000€. This is what is left over after buying all that shiny stuff! Both heavy smokers:D

Sometimes I just enjoy buying and testing new stuff, so what? Before you just burned the money to stinky ashes! Now there' s always something shiny left:)

I too have shinyitis, but honestly it's part of what keeps me engaged in vaping. I've been vaping for a while but it never took for my wife. I hear the siren song of analogs quite often.

The positive side to shinyitis, for me, is I've cut way back on other hobbies. I haven't bought a new computer, tablet or similar costly hobby item in quite a while. Plus, I'm avoiding analogs. In my world, it's a win/win. :)

At first you will spend more money simply because you are buying equipment, which is reusable versus a cig which you smoke and then throw away. Eventually, the savings from not buying cigarettes will catch up. Using myself as an example, I quit on January 2. I was smoking a pack a day which cost me $9.50 a day. I started with the blu Plus+, then got a Halo Triton kit, Halo g6 kit, Kanger evod kit, 510 clearomizers that fit the blu Plus+ batteries, and a bunch of extra batteries, tanks, coils, and juice. Looking at the numbers, I am in the hole by over $250 since I spent over $800 in just a couple of weeks. However, I have enough juice and coils where I wouldn't need to get more supplies until this summer. By my calculation, the break even point for me will be April 3. By that time, the amount of money I would have spent on cigarettes will surpass what I have spent on equipment and ejuice. By the time comes where I need to spend another dime on supplies, I would have saved almost $1,000 versus buying cigarettes.

And yes, I actually created a spreadsheet that compares the two and computes the savings from vaping versus smoking.

You know, it's strange. I first vaped from 2009-2011, went back to cigs, and now recently started again this past November. I've yet to buy a new apv. I mean, I got some new batteries and a few ten dollar tanks (no such thing back when I first vaped, cartomizers were state of the art), but I'm still using them on a 6V Prodigy 3.1 mech with 3 ohm replaceable coils. Oh, sure, I'll get something new here pretty soon, if only because I think 3 ohm coils are going the way of the dinosaurs and I think I got the last of the batteries I use, but I'm totally happy with the vape I have now.

I say it's strange, because I'm usually as susceptible to shinyitis as anyone here!

Vaping is so much more expensive than smoking, hands down. Just look at other posts, 5-10 mil a day? At an average $10 per 10 mil, add in daily battery use plus coil and/or prebuilt coil price, averages out to more than the nationwide price/pack of cigarettes.
Just sayin

who the hell is paying $10 for 10 mil?
youre getting ripped off.
i pay $10 for 50ml
