How often do you change out your coil

This question isn't for those that like to change coils to try out different juices, or just likes to build, but for those that like a certain resistance and vape it consistently. I like my 1ohm microcoil. I've had it in my grand since I bought it. Is there a time limit where every so often you change coils regardless of how it's performing, do you run it until it pops, or can you tell when a coil is getting weak? Do they even get weak? Need a little help. As far as I know my coil is working fine but I've been using it like three weeks or so. Haven't been using rebuildable rdas that long and this is the first set up that ive been happy enough with to leave it alone. Needing to know at what point I need to build another 1ohm and replace it.

Only when I have to.

I have on set up in a ERA Hornet on a Grand that has been going for over 8 months :)

I just dry burn it ever two weeks or so or when I feel like it.

My other go to Grand has a set up going on 2 months still going strong.

Bother are standard Ugly coils just like the mod master dose and the old crew learned to build. Nothing fancy :)

I have some coils that have been in use for a few months.

Some do break after a lot of use. Usually when dry burning or changing wicks.

Some do drop in ohms after a time.

If I notice a coil is not looking too good I will change it out.

I do notice much better flavor after installing a new coil.

When doing my wicks last weekend I metered a older coil. It was still at the same ohms as installed. It dry burned good so I left it on for now!

I recoil whenever I feel like it. I have several hundred feet of kanthal and I dig the practice!

It ends up usually being once a week. I use well aged NT in my Reos and they gunk up pretty bad so I have to rinse, dry burn and rewick 3 or 4 times during the course of the bottle and by that time the ohms of the coil have tended to creep up a bit. So after that its time to recoil.

I can't recall ever replacing a coil because I had to. I've never popped one, or had one fail. I have coils in drippers and gennys that have been there for months. When I rewick, if the coil looks a little gunked up, I dry burn it a few times, and brush the dried crud off it, inside and out, with one of those little Dentek brushes you get in the dental care section of the pharmacy.
The only time I build a new coil is when I get a 'wild hair' about something I want to try out.

Keep them nice and clean, when you're re-wicking, and they'll last a long time.

I try to. I will burn them to see if it glows properly before I add the new wick. I guess I may not get the advantage to use other res by leaving the current coil but I really like the res so its not an issue for me.

I ran the course of trying every new wild coil build that came along for maybe a year before going back to KISS with simple micro coils months ago.

Even though all 7 of my Reo's still have the same coils in them they started with (or with the first 2 were changed to soon after), I can't count them as I've only had the first Reo's since early September. I have other toppers that have had the same R or NR-R-NR coils in them as far back as before last Thanksgiving, so pushing a year. But I also didn't use them much after early this summer when I started buying all my GP PAPS, and don't use them at all anymore. I've never had to recoil any of the toppers on my 10 PAPS yet (Herons, SnP/Sopia, or the drippers...Senio's & Origen).

Like others have said, with a very small amount of upkeep the coils can last a very long time. I usually just dry burn when changing wicks... if the coil is getting gunked up then I do the dry burn and water dunk thing before rewicking. I don't feel a need to brush, just water dunk 2-3-4 times as needed until all the crud falls off.

I never got interested in 'trick builds'. I've just spent my experimenting time trying various wire gauges, coil diameters, resistances, and various wicking materials. Once I've found what I like, I pretty much stick with it.

Usually once a week or more. Now that's just because I want to, not out of necessity, and only on my dual coil set ups. I rewick every couple days to change out juice.
I've had the same 1 ohm micro in my Cyclone for a month now, because I like the build and plan on using it for a long time. With that being said, I'm on board with everyone else; dry burn, rewick. I've only heard of gplat actually popping, not kanthal.

I've wondered if coils can decrease in performance? I usually end up rebuilding after 2 weeks or so just cause I want to but I have wondered if older coils show their age in their performance? And the ohms of a coil will go down as it gets older?

I don't know I just read somewhere if they heat up fast and glow from the middle out to the ends they were good.

I've read that too unsure and it's what I watch for when dry burning. I've never used a coil for more than two weeks though so I don't know if the glowing from the middle out changes with a much older coil. I do wonder.
