How quick did you drop the nic?

I started at 18 mg, it was perfect and now around 60 days later I'm thinking I need to drop down already!?!? I'm pleasantly happy, but super surprised. Figured I'd be on 18mg for around 6 months. I'm getting the typical too much nic signs: slightly racing heartbeats, jitters and slight upset stomach after heavier vape times.

I know everyone is different but does anyone know if there's an average time frame for a 1- 1 1/2 pad/Marlboro Light smoker? Just curious.

What blows is I just bought 6 bottles of 30ml/18 mg! Either going to add 6mg of unflavored and lose some taste or going to have to buy 6 new bottles of 6mg. My wallet is taking a beating!

I dropped down a couple of months into vaping from 24 to 18mg. About every three months I dropped down. Like you, my body let me know. Mostly it was the Taste of the nic. It started just tasting harsh to me. After a year vaping, I'm now down to 9mg.

I would drop by 3mg's each drop so it wouldn't feel quite so noticeable.

Yeah, I ended up paying forward some.....well quite a bit of liquid :)

Does unflavored really dilute the flavor a lot? I've got 6mg unflavored to lower the 18 but don't want my juice to taste really muted. I guess I can play with it before buying a bunch of 6mg. I also for some dumb reason have a 24 mg unflavored

I wonder if I had a few glasses of wine when I bought all this stuff!

Drop? I keep the cap on the bottle. No problems.

OK, well, I guess I have "dropped" a bit. Mostly out of juice savings. The nic base is the most expensive part. But I find it's easier to reduce now. But that took over two years for me. I vaped like a fiend while getting over the cig addiction and frankly wasn't that motivated to reduce nic too quickly. I wanted to be REALLY far away from cigs. I'm still occasionally around people that smoke and I really want to distance myself from my 30 year addiction to tobacco. I suppose reducing nic is a....tread carefully...thing with me. I go with the flow. As I feel less need I reduce.

I have been vaping 24 mg. I'm probably around 18ish. No biggie. No a major reduction. But I don't care.

I started at 24 nic, and had to go to 30 to get off the cigs. It wasn't long before I could do 24 all day, and I stayed there for quite awhile. Then I thought "I bet I can move down to 18". The next time I bought juice, I got it in 18, and I mixed the last of my 24 with an equal amount of 18 and used that "21 more or less" as a stepping stone on the way to 18. It wasn't a big deal, so after a few months at 18, I thought "Lets try 12". Again I made a mix that was an in-between step. (I never measured these closely, but just sort of eyeballed it aiming for 50/50.)

I just kept doing that. Now I've been nic free for several months. I had thought that with no nic, I'd find it easy to set the thing aside, but it's not. I can do it - I went for just over 24 hours recently as a test. But I'm a lot happier when I can vape, and I'm not convinced there is any harm. I'm even thinking about getting some 6 nic juice, probably not as my "all day", but just for a casual thing now and then.

Early on, I was just so happy to get off the cigs I didn't even think about moving down in nic level. I'm pretty sure that if I had tried, I could have gotten off the nic in six months or less. It wasn't a big deal. The lack of throat hit was more a pain than actually missing the nic itself.

I started with some 18 and some 12 - rotated as needed according to cravings. At about 1 week in, I got the nic overload sensation, and moved to 9 and 6. A month later I stopped vaping the 9. I'm at 6 now and ready to move to 3 or 4 since I started rebuilding... it's been a month and a half since the journey began. So yes, it can happen fast. Lovin' it.

Just get some 6mg eliquid in the same flavor you like, mix 18mg & 6mg, 50/50 and you will end up with 12mg without any flavor loss.

Note: the lower you go, the less and less throat hit. Most only go so low due to the throat hit, not due to the other characteristics of nicotine.

I have to agree with AttyPops. I started at 24mg, and after a year I'll switch between 24mg (most of the time) and go to 18mg. Depends on the stress level at the time. I'm not worried about the nic. I'm worried about a 45 year habit.

I started at 18mg then in the first month went to 16mg. After that I made a conscious effort through DIY to get to 0mg. It took me about 6 months. Each new DIY was dropped by 1 or 2mg. I was like you 1-1 1/2 pad/Marlboro Lights. I don't think there is a standard for everyone, do what works for you. The great thing about being 0mg now is the looming FDA ruling means very little to me. Not to mention I can test negative for nicotine use for insurance purposes. Another trick I used was to vape a higher nic juice when I first got up and later in the day switched to a lower mg until I adjusted. Good Luck!

I too started high.... 24 on a 808 w/cart. 18... 12... now 6 & even 0 after a year. BUT now my vapor delivery devises are much more potent. When you step up your hardware game you will drop your nic %. Try a Kayfun or Reo, bet 6mg is your limit.
What I did with all the high test juice I initially bought; go back to vendor and repurcha$e what I liked (and pay it forward with those juices I didn't want to invest more $ into) in a zero blend and mix it down. That way I was still able to retain the same flavor level. Welcome to the game:)

I started at 18 in July (was a PAD smoker - Camel filters. July 2nd was my last cig). Went to 12md somewhere around mid August. It's now October 3rd, and I've been at 6mg for about 2 weeks. Not an intentional drop, but I was getting nic'd out constantly. Jitters and yucky feeling. Not sure why vaping affected me so strongly. Maybe because I didn't direct lung inhale cigs? I always smoked how I now vape - draw into mouth, then inhale. Maybe I wasn't getting all the nicotine out of the smoking, that I'm now getting from vaping. I dunno. All I care about is that I'm not smoking.
