How to clean atomizer

I agree MNZ, when the cost are $10 it is no problem to replace each month 2.
But the elite brands with around $30 per pop sux. I would hope that the brand atomizer would stay a little longer in shape.
i would not even mind to spend $100 for an atomizer with non corrosive platinum coil wire/mash and without the plastic fiber inside. They should last 1 - 2 years.

Hey ive got an idea why not just throw the atomizer away and use a new one works for me every time !

That is exactly what the manufacturer's want us to do.
Every part of these e-cigs are designed for a short life span.
1) The Rechargable battery in general. (I've always hated those things. Charge for 8 hours to get about 2 hours use) Will need to be replaced.
2)The battery charger it'self will need to be replaced.
3)The Atomiser will need to be replaced.
4)The cartridges will need to be replaced.(but we knew that anyway)
No part of the e-cig is built to last for more than about 3 months. (if that)
In fact they are quite shoddily and cheaply manufactured.
They are made this way because the Manufacturer's are making them to make lot's of money.
They are not making them for the good of our Health.
It's called Business. If they designed them to last they would not make as much money.
Your not supposed to wash it,your supposed to replace it.

That's just my opinion after using the e-cig for 2 weeks without smoking a real cigarette. In 2 weeks i have 1 dead battery, 2 dying battery charges and an Atomiser which won't give me enough smoke to get a fly high.

I have to say that you are dead spot on. That is not a retailer problem, that is a manufacturer problem. Manufacturers for e-cigarettes are in a economy of scale.
The thing what bugs me is, when you pay for a Lexus you would like to get a Lexus.
With e-cigarettes it seems in moment like you pay for Lexus and get a bycicle.
I am not talking about the highly appreciated Starter Kits which make people able to make the transformation. Example, the second e-cig I bought was a Ruyan v8, whimpsy vapor, after 3 weeks one battery fall apart, just a waste of money, even my cheap super mini worked better.

Pocket calculators and various other small products have tiny solar chargers built in.

Probably too small a charge current to do much, but might extend the use time some.

Built right into the battery case.

Here's what I do & what is needed at hand to do it with:
1) piece of plastic or wax paper or tin foil to place under:
2) piece of white paper (so you can see when it's been cleaned out)
3) safety pin opened up, plus needle end bent back some
4) bottle of any of the CLEAR colored Bickford's flavorings
5) eye dropper

note: liquid added to the steel wool end of the atomizer will drip out the battery end.

Take the atomizer with the steel wool end up. Using the eye dropper repeatedly flush the atomizer with the Bickford's until only clear liquid drips out onto the white paper.

Take the pin & probe gently into the side holes in the atomizer & the battery end. Repeat the flushing process till the black specks stop appearing. Also a few gentle taps on the table should be okay to help get that black junk out. I do not blow into the atomizer at all.

This has fixed three atomizers, including one which was completely dead after doing the 'water wash" & blowing technique, and gave bad 'burning' smells before the water wash technique.

If the battery is charged, the atomizer has full liquid, and yet is not producing vapor, or little of it, then the atomizer needs a cleaning.

I happen to have a bunch of Bickford's, so am using them. But if there is a source of pure propylene glycol, that would be a lot cheaper way to do this. Also I suspect my atomizer troubles were caused by using Bickford's with caramel coloring added...like the Chocolate, Black Walnut, etc.

This method is recommended by ruyan.. any other method will effect your guarantee..

1. Put the tube into clear water (without any risk for the atomizer!) (no detergent! nothing other!!!).

The best solution is to but the tube under flowing clear water by the two holes for a few seconds.

2. After the cleaning, you have to dry it by blowing into the two holes of the tube to eliminate all
the water, you can allso use a hair dryer to dry it.

3. Then you have to put a new full filled cartridge in the e-cigar and wait.. after an hour or more the liquid arrives to the atomizing chamber.. insert the full charged battery.. Or you can squeeze liquid from a cartridge and drop it into the e-cigar.

4. After 2-10 slow puffs.. if theres a high density smoke then all is Ok.

If this method has no affect send it back to ruyan

I bought the NJoy and it is a great model. Lots of smoke, great taste.
However, I do wish I had done more research. I had no idea that the refills from them were so darn expensive, nor that they don't even sell atomizer's seperately.

What I don't get about the design of these sweet things is why on earth no one has developed a liquid cart? By that I mean a liquid vial holding say 5ML of straight fluid that gets slowly released onto the atomizer. Maybe you even need to prime it every puff, but who cares? It would last a very long time and make it more useable. It would also eliminate the atomizer getting dry and burning up I would think.

At the very least they could make the atomizer coil user-replaceable. Just make it plug in with tweezers and everytime it burns, you plop in another one for 10 cents.

Personally, I don't like priming. I find it annoying, and you can't e-smoke discretely if you have to puff, puff, puff to prime your hit. I want to just inhale and have it work. (Or push the button, inhale, and have it work, in the case of the KISSbox.)

So, I wouldn't like a cartridge that required it, even if it used or delivered the liquid more efficiently.

As to replaceable heating coils, it sounds nice in theory. Emcee and I kicked that idea around a bit last weekend. My main problem would be that I am a klutz, and would feel like I might break the damn thing pulling the old one out, or putting the new one in.

But both of those objections are just me.

What if the priming was just a little rubber button on the e-cig (like a lawn mower has but much smaller)... like a tiny rubber button you press once to drip on the atomizer?
Or even better, when you press the manual switch it sucks out 2 drops of the liquid and vaporizes it.
You would think someone could make it work.

Seriously I think this is the BEST thing to happen to smoking in 500 years. Everyone I have shown the thing to in the past 3 weeks has bought one and quit normal cigs cold turkey. Unbelievable.

You would think at least big tobacco would catch on, pump in the money, and save their sure-to-die current business model. I grew up on a tobacco farm and I love the natural stuff, but I gotta say, these e-cigs KILL tobacco. Kinda fitting if you consider how many people tobacco has killed

I have the 901B - it's been a great little device but I hit atomiser problems yesterday, most annoyingly a burnt aftertaste.

I wrote it on another thread earlier (with a link to this little steamer) but thought I would spread the word here too. I tried pure alcohol then boiling the atomiser - but it still had a definate burnt taste which I was a bit down about. Tonight I used a steam cleaner on it - only took a few secs. The steam cleaner is called a 'steam bee'. The steam is pressurised.

I think it cleaned it very well as my cart which was full got dry quickly despite some pre-dripping directly on the coil. I can't believe I am not vaping that acrid burnt taste anymore - it's great! I got enthusiastic after the sucess with my worst one, and did my other atomisers plus the hubbys - could not believe the gunk. Again - very fast and no down time waiting for them to dry! I dripped the wick area, topped carts and they are all as good as new.
I'm one very happy vapourer tonight!

I don't know if this would work for other models, but for the 901 it has done an amazing FAST extremely clean job.
Now just hoping it all holds up - but if they are in such good shape now I don't see this changing....

Jimbob... NJoy is warranty replaceable for 1 year and they are really good about it which is great as you'll be replacing them frequently.

Kit - it works very well. Still vaping away heartily this am and no probs with the atomisers at all - they really are like new again.

I wonder if this method would be ok with atomisers other than the 901? Be interested to know results with it on other models.

I bought my steam bee off ebay for half the JML price - might be an idea to look there too.

I don't really want to invest in a steamer, but I'm wary of boiling because of limescale issue. Would it work to steam the thing over an ordinary pot for awhile, then blow it out?

Denni - I don't know if it would. It might. I'd be inclined to just boil it though you raise a valid point about limescale. Problem is the steam won't have any force behind it by using boiling water alone. The steamer I use is like a compressor really, only it blows steam through the atomiser instead of just air.
