How-to: Cotton rewick of a Vision V3 and similar atomizers

Disassemble the atomizer head.


Remove old wicks. Place 12 strands of cotton thread obtained from
#1/0 candle wick into the old coil, and place 12 additional strands
under the coil.


Reassemble the atomizer head.


Place atomizer head on the riser tube. Trim the wicks so they
almost touch the base.


Assemble the clearomizer body and enjoy your vaping.
No dry hits, no burnt hits, even with my Vmax.

Followup: Using the stock 2.8 ohm coil proved useless on any device other than my Vmax. So I wound 5 wraps of 34ga NiCr around all 24 threads, twisted NR wire right at the base of the leads and passed those through the grommet at the connector end. Got 2.1 ohms and the same great vape on my XL3 VV mod as I get with the Vmax at 2.8 ohms. Even my 3.4v Ego-T Passthough im getting strong vapor and taste, definitely enjoyable.

I did try making a coil without the NR wire attached and did the double twist at each end, but it was very weak and had a bad flavor, I think the rubber grommet was heating up.

Notes: After spending 4 days with this clearomizer, I realized its the first one I've used that didn't leak liquid out the bottom connector. Finally! You'll get some condensate in the tip after 15 mins but a quick loosening of it will allow it to flow back into the tank. Hassle free vaping.

Reminds me of the rather thin Bamboo Yarn which makes for a very good wick at 12 strands.

Hacking is hacking. The e-cig is easier to mod than phone firmware, but it takes a lot of time to tweak and test batteries and atomizers. Its a nice low tech diversion from the normal high tech hacking I do.
