On that note I would like to share one of my favorite quotes:

"Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." ~Margaret Mead~

I am not saying the vaping community is necessarily "small" but this quote jumped to mind while reading this thread...just wanted to share as I do believe in this quote!!

Well said, Jkress!

I, too, believe in this quote. Thanks for sharing the positive vibes!

We can do this if we stand together.
All we have to do is be fearless and persistent.

I always tell my students this...

The road to success is paved with failure.
The road to failure is paved with fear.

Can anyone from CASAA and SFATA suggest a few questions for us to ask them, in terms of requesting support?
Do you mean CASAA members, or CASAA board of directors?

As only one of the 40,000+ current CASAA members I can only speak for myself...
But I really can't think of what Aspire could do to fight the bans and taxes...

I guess the question is, what SHOULD be done to fight the bans and taxes?

Personally, I believe in fighting against that which has created an atmosphere that allows and accepts these types of legislation.
That's one of the things I try to do as much of as I can.

What does everyone else think? We've had some great ideas here. It's time to stand up & get the ball rolling toward creating a United front. We are all in this together.

A huge, well-thought out PR campaign would be extremely beneficial at this point. Vaping has taken a very bad rap in the mainstream media - lots of assumptions and fear-mongering. A PR campaign should point out that smokers who have been unable to quit any other way have successfully quit thanks to vaping. Stats showing numbers who successfully quit by vaping as opposed to other methods would be great, also facts to counter all the other crap that's slung onto vaping (formaldehyde, explosions, etc)

Once the public understands that vaping is a healthier, and reasonably safe, alternative to smoking, anyone who supports banning it or taxing it out of existence could easily be labeled as someone who wants smokers to die. This should make politicians think twice before supporting such a ban.

Ultimately, I wish this weren't even necessary, because I thought I lived in the "land of the free"... but I guess that's been a pipe dream for a while now... :(

I meant anyone involved with CASAA.

Much of our discussion has focused on supporting legal challenges to bans and taxes.

If one-half of the 40,000 members of CASAA sent in $10 that would be a sizable war chest of $200,000. The cost to each individual is small. We watch or, better, participate with CASAA; If CASAA uses the $200K wisely, then those who can afford to do it again, should. I am going to do it now.

I don't know if telling people how much I have donated to CASAA over the years would help or not.
But regardless, a lot of people donating a little would be better than a few donating a lot.

It is hard enough getting people to just join CASAA, even though it's free and takes 30 seconds.
Getting them to donate is harder still, but I don't see why most can't do it.

Just skip that new drip tip you have your eye on...

If the US government starts to heavily tax nicotine base (PG or VG) ... You can bet the farm it will still be available through the internet (cheap and tax free) from China.

No different than buying cheap un-taxed cigarettes delivered by mail from companies based in the Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, etc

I'll pass on Chinese nicotine solution, myself. If it is as safe as their dog food then the idea is questionable. I have bought heavy locally, it's frozen or rather thickened in brown bottles at less than zero Celsius, it'll last me for my life time.

What happens if the FDA makes e-Liquids that contain Nicotine Face-2-Face Only transactions?

Roll your own. It's doubtful they will be able to stop the sale of PG, VG, and nicotine base. And I doubt they will classify PG or VG as a "drug" because that would put undue stress on industry that needs it for various reasons. PG and VG are used around the world in tons of applications, thus I don't see the FDA classifying either as a controlled substance (first of all because they aren't drugs at all).

What regulations will do is simply make it so current smokers will continue smoking. It won't do a whole lot to advanced vapers who DIY. Current smokers will only have access to crappy eliquid and cigalikes unless they want to go through the whole DIY thing from the start. I know if I still smoked I wouldn't bother with that.

uhhh...

black market...

I will pass on the black market. I am a proud Kentuckian, I generally pass on moonshine, one man's radiator is another man's still. But, heck, I won't pass on the ability to make one's own choice. I'll pass, you go for it.

VG and PG will be Unaffected by the Deeming of e-Liquids that contain Nicotine as a Tobacco Product.

Its the Nicotine that will be the Problem.

There is one thing I have yet to hear anyone suggest to this forum. Who has the stones to run.

Could you elaborate? I don't understand. Stones, I get. Run? You mean for political office? I would run but I lack the mendacity to run for a legislative or executive office. Mendacity being the primary character trait required for either branch. Probably, only Mrs CMD, aka "the most fortunate woman in the world", may be my only proponent.
