how to smooth out taste of diy unflavored

hi all
just mixed up my first diy liquid. i have a 75/25 pg to vg 15mg nicotine. i enjoy the taste of it unflavored but it tastes harsh compared to my non diy liquids. is there a trick to smoothing out the taste? thanks!

You could try 90% VG and 10% distilled water.

Changing the ratio would probably help too,more pg equals more throat hit,so it would probably add to the harshness as well,so upping the vg a bit may take away some of it.

just add 5% vg until you get the balance you are looking for. you could jump 50/50 and 25/75 to let you know which direction you really want to go. I would also recommend vaping each component separately and alone just to make sure they are all on the up and up

+1 for that. Not only will it let you ensure each ingredient is OK, it will give you an understanding of how each contributes to overall flavor. Of course if your nic base is more than 2x stronger than what you usually vape, it should be diluted with PG and/or VG before trying it.

This is my exact unflavored ratio. It hits great, wicks great, great vapor, and doesn't gunk the coils nearly as fast as flavored. Low PG is the way to go for unflavored base imo.

Sometimes it's your delivery system ( clearo, carto), or you may have mixed it wrong also.

I've been doing 12mg/ml 50/50 for quite awhile and find it to be smooth.

Just curious -- are you saying that the ratios from your retail liquids are the same as your unflavored DIY? That would make a world of difference from the suggestions if that is so. Not to call into question your ability to get the mixing right, considering it's easy as pie, but make sure you got your nic percentage correct. If so, then go higher VG like everyone else suggested. Then, if that didn't fix it, heed r77r7r's word on quality nic.

Vaperstek nic smoothed everything out for me. I can't vape my wizards lab nic base at 6 mg unflavored. My vaperstek nic base... 40 to 50 mg unflavored and I'm a happy camper.

Reducing the level of NIC will help. If your getting harsh throat hit or a bad peppery taste it usually means your using to high a concentration of NIC or a poor grade of NIC. Using more VG then PG will also help but the most drastic result of smoothing I found came from reducing the level of NIC.

thanks for the feedback. yeah really hard to screw up a pg/vg nic base. nic is from rts vapes added more vg last night and super happy with the results. funny how things change when mixing your own. with premade juices i loved a high pg percentage. thanks again everyone!

I don't know anyone that vapes unflavored PG because it's harsh, I know a lot of people that vape unflavored VG.

In premixed I like a higher PG content since it tastes better.

A 50/50-1.2%nic - unflavored - is what I use. My stuff comes from WL, and I have had no troubles. I get their nic in 2.4% in vg and also in pg, and dilute accordingly.

(25% vg with nic, 25% pg with nic, 25% plain vg, and 25% plain pg.)

I find that adding 0.5% to 1% EM sweetener solution to my unflavored gets rid of some harshness. I use 95% vg / 5% distilled water at 10 mg/ml. I was using heartland vapes 100 mg/ml nicotine. Now I'm using MFS. It seems about the same. There is just a hint of pepper. I like it.
