My local Shell service station that only a month ago started stocking Blu and a couple of other brands of cigalikes, were excited to show me their new "starter kit" display the other day... these are simply rebranded ego bubble packs. Most include one battery (around 650 mah), a USB charger and a single clearomizer. They also had more complete charger kits, spare clearos, juice in several flavors and believe it or not even replacement heads for the clearos! The prices were ridiculously expensive but since I live in a "tourist" town and the nearest B&M is an hour drive, round trip, and the Shell convenience store is open long hours, every day of the year, they are selling...
As I said earlier *I believe* that most if not all nicotine used in e-juice already comes from tobacco (someone please correct me if I'm wrong here). As the e-cig market grows so do juice sales which means more tobacco getting processed into nic base instead of cigarettes. As long as the prices remain more or less stable I don't expect many changes.
BT isn't interested in hardware. They never made a market plunge into pipes, hookas, carrying cases or even cigarette lighters. Their old business model simply isn't targeted at hardware at all and why would they change that? The overhead is already a big investment with R&D, manufacturing, QC, logistics and processing faulty units that are returned... and the profit margins in hardware really only exist because manufacturing of what most of use today is done in China. BT's market strategy has always been about extremely cheap (per unit), disposables... the cigarette butts that used to fill our ashtrays. Could I imagine a time when you might see a big tobacco corporation branding it's own juice line? Sure, that would make sense, and maybe even some cigalikes or pre-filled 510 carts. But to have a market, a real market, the prices have to remain competitive if not cheaper.
They can't regulate the hardware beyond devices that already come with nicotine self-contained. Watch for nicotine liquid, whether it's in a base or already flavored juice, to get pushed for taxation and regulation. Hardware? I doubt it.
