Killing dogs for idiotic reasons isn't a job, it's a crime. Sick piece of trash seemed to be enjoying it. I met with several cops over that incident, every one of them thanked me. I asked them why they didn't do their job and arrest the mayor that made the stupid rule. Not one could answer that.

Hold up...

Cops thanked you after you assaulted an animal control officer with a handgun?
Everyone just said forget federal law, let's let multiple felonies go?

The animal control officers didn't shoot you?
Hmm.

Which shelter? They had 4 for a while.
Well, last spring when we drove up there to pick up a few, the city had one shelter that I was aware of, North Richland Hills Animal Shelter. If there were more city of NRH shelters, I wasn't aware of them.

Came to the doctor this morning for what I thought was a pretty routine visit. Turns out my blood cell counts are alarmingly low, and they have no real good explanation why. Now they're admitting me to the hospital for a bone marrow biopsy, and saying words like "lymphoma" and "acute leukemia." It "may" be nothing and I "may" go home as early as tomorrow, but I will definitely be here overnight, and they're saying it could be as long as a month.

All I have on me is one mod with no charger, and half a bottle of e-liquid. I was not prepared for this! I haven't even had breakfast yet!

Plus, I paid for a full day-pass on the bus instead of just one-way, because I thought I'd be on my way back home by now. Even if they do let me out tomorrow, I left all my cash at home so I don't even know how I'll get back...
My best wishes... I hope the results come back negative.

My daughter hung out with me at work one day......her reaction following me around at work was "you get paid to watch cat videos on youtube?".

I hope so! I specifically looked for you on the list. It's still early, though. :)

It's hard to know which names go with which user names we're familiar with, then we know some first names, but only a handful of last names - I wish they'd list the next batch of 50 by usernames on ECF - but then again, I'm a nobody when it comes to running contests - grin. I think I can recognize MY first and abbrev. last name, anyway. lol

Yesterday I had to take my husbands kitty in to the vet. He had bone cancer in his bottom jaw bone. Poor thing couldn't eat anymore, stopped eating 3 days prior.
Called the vets office and told them I needed to come in to have our kitty of 10 years put to sleep, the office said you need an appointment and there are no openings today, I told her the vet told me to just come on in when the time was right. How can you make an appointment with death?
I tell ya, I couldn't leave there without shedding a few tears.
So needless to say I could use some good vibes today...
One of the most painful experiences in the world... *hugs* :(

This shelter was open less than 6 months before tales of all kinds of animal cruelty started popping up. That incident got the cops in to catch them in the act. All but 3 of the first round of employees quit in the first 2 weeks, the rest that were hired were friends of the 3 that were getting away with torturing animals. When the cops got in to take their complaint, they nosed around and found quite a bit of disturbing stuff. Like a room full of kittens that were apparently stomped to death. Dogs and cats being starved and not being given water either.

Of course, the thanks I got were off the record. Some cops are animal lovers too. Plus, my arrest could have led to a whole bunch of negative publicity that they didn't want.

That's the problem with the entry. When you entered the contest, you supplied your full name and your email address, not your ECF username since the contest was open to everyone, not just ECF members. It would be a pain in the .... to try to cross reference every entry with ECF username, and would be impossible if the person entering used a different email address to sign up for ECF than they used for the giveaway.

Did they ever say if people who only put in a first name are still eligible? I already won so it doesn't impact me but I have to assume others made the same mistake. After 20 years making software I can't imagine I'm the least tech savvy person here, though I guess I could be one of the worst at reading rules.

At least if they entered their email address, they would be able to follow up with them and get their last name.
