Yeah it's fine. I've tried humco and now, and both taste the same. I've read really long threads of what really seemed like placebo effect. Usp is a strict standard. The humco glycerin at Walmart says pure vegetable glycerin, so that's about as pure as it gets. My Now bottle says 100%, which they are allowed to say because they can realistically say anything that they want. There's no way there's absolutely no trace impurities, so I know it's a lie lol

It's labeled as 99.5% glycerin derived from vegetables. Is this safe to use as a VG base or Vape it straight?

That's the good stuff. You can mix it in juice recipes or vape it straight, but if you vape it straight up you'll probably want to add some distilled water to thin it a bit :thumb:

Humco is ok in a pinch but please trust the wisdom of our forum suppliers (tab, up there ^) who sell the purest VG available and who sell in sample quantities, like 60 or 120ml, up to larger quantities. The last time I looked 120 mil of 99.7+% pharm quality VG can be had for the same price - or less - than Humco food quality, and, imo tastes better.

Note that 99.5% is the USP standard, which Humco meets. Also note that USP is not food grade, but what is used in pharmaceutical applications.

Yes, there are higher purities and yes, many times the purity on the label is an indication of the lowest purity allowed by the producer's process so the actual contents are often better than the label indicates.

What USP covers is available on there site. It's one standard, but you can purchase different aspects of the standard. Like packaging, or labeling, or production, so businesses that don't produce, and just package as an example, only have to pay for the standard that applies to them instead of the whole thing. There seems to be more confusion about this standard than AASHTO HS-20, which I thought was the most misunderstood standard in the USA until I started DIY'ing. (If you actually know and understand AASHTO HS-20 standard, you belong to an odd group as it is.)

That said, VG's have the greatest variety of notes of all the bases, so it's a good idea to try different USP VG's to see which you prefer, but any USP VG is acceptable to use.

Just my .02, I started my diy with Humco and I really have to say I wasn't happy with the bittery nasty aftertaste. I had only been vaping steady for a month or so and my sense of smell and taste came back and in my honest opinion its just as easy to order some high/er quality vg and pg from either the venders here or various other parts of the interwebs. Better quality, better taste, good price, bigger quantity. I agree with TaketheRedPill though, If you are in an oh {MODERATED} moment it's a great fallback.
