Almost.... except that it's a legal deer... and WAAAAAYy more tender than that 16 point grizzled up, gamy buck that everybody wants to mount on a wall....

Actually in the county I'm hunting in - it's not legal to harvest him. The rack has to be out past the ears.

    A benchleg sounds easy to corner.

    Actually they're a very hard deer to hunt.
    They're found in the Klamath aria of Oregon. I would guess that they are a cross between blacktail and mule deer, and they get the name from their heavy bodies & short legs. They tend to stay in very thick timber on steep hill sides. Trophy hunters love their large heavy racks.

    I'm thinkin' kinda like a "grab a tiger by the tail" situation.... sounds good at first thought, but once you're in the middle of it, not so much.... ;)
    A benchleg is a cross between a blacktail and a muley.... that's a pretty large deer
