I hunt with longbows and recurves I forgot to add.

I have never hunted with a longbow, however I would like to try it out. I went from an old Bear Whitetail to an Oneida Eagle. The bow I just got is a gently used Bear Lights Out. These things are getting tiny! I saw a real bow the other day at a local sporting goods store that honestly looked like a toy.

Back in the days we struggled to reach IBO speeds of 300 fps. Now these little toys looking jobs shoot 320 and up.

When I hunt the elusive cougar I like to vape something with a sweet aroma, say Ameretto or Chocolate Espresso. This lures them in a bit closer so I can get a good look. Then, when they seem intoxicated by the scent I make my move, slowly, and with complete focus. Give it a try, works for me!

I just got back from Elk hunting this week. And I didn't vape while calling the elk, but I did vape going up/down the mountain. Funny thing happened though. When we stopped and ate our lunch I was vaping like a mad man!! While vaping we had a black bear come within 30yds. of us with his nose up in the air smelling around. Was he smelling the Waffle juice I was vaping? Or was it just a coincidence I am not sure, but I can tell you this. I have lived in Idaho my entire life, and have been a bow hunter since I was a kid. I have never had a bear come into me like that EVER without a bait station. So, my Uncle and myself were amazed and I thought it was the waffle flavored juice. It didn't bring any elk in though :(

Hmmm...So cougars are partial to amaretto, huh? ;)

I'd be willing to bet they can easily smell the odor from vaping. Did the bear ask you for a toot?

I had a deer walk up and touch my knee with it's nose. Only had a buck permit and it was a doe. Sitting on a log. It was walking past on a trail, stopped and looked at me for a minute, then walked right up and sniffed my knee. I yelled BOO!

Man, I miss bowhunting up in Wisconsin. I used to live in Hudson. We'd go hit the public hunting land. A soybean field on one side of us, a corn field on the other. Just sit under a tree and wait for the monster bucks to show. Great hunting up there. Down here in Texas, the deer are much smaller.

If I could, I'd send you some deer. I've had as many as 9 in my backyard at one time. They eat grass and anything they see you plant. They ate a couple of hundred bucks in Hostas the night after we planted them. I tried popping them on the rump with a pellet gun from my deck about 100 feet away. They thought it was a bee sting, jumped, and went back to grazing.

There's no hunting in my county. The deer are in need of herd thinning. There's a golf course that backs up to my property (about 300 feet from the house) and the deer live there with no competition. Sometimes, they get hit by golf balls. Sometimes at night I see them eating from my bird feeder. They lick out the seeds from a squirrel proof feeder!

I have used apple and plain tobacco flavors in the stand. It didn't seem to affect them much. I hunt both archery and rifle season and I don't de-scent my clothes every day. It never seemed to bother the deer. I find that leaving my clothes in the barn with the livestock overnight covers just about any scent they might have. They're used to my animals and the smell is familiar and not threatening to them, I guess.

I'm not about to try vaping Code Blue or Tink's 69 no matter how much they like it.8-o
