Red Cross is an issue. I never donate to them. Sameritan's Purse has been great. Where they are needed & when they are needed, with what is needed. Salvation Army, also. Seeing them first hand & that is where my donations will go.

Absolute good news. While at MIL's house power washing.... her electricity was restored.

We are spending the night at her house tonight. We bought pizza and I'm now full and cool and happy.

Still no power at our place.

Tell ya, I would have been very happy to be in the old homestead of my youth in Central FL or later Nashville when Andrew hit us in S Dade. It's the kind of experience you never forget. Or Donna in '60. Neither lacked vigor when downgraded.

i said,, (as husband gets that sinking feeling and crazy idea he will have to visit me in jail) look,, if you put that crap on my credit report and i will sue the heck out of you,, meantime i hope that bad credit score stops anyone else from tapping my credit,,,,but more importantly, you need to hunt down who got those funds and give them a job,, because they outsmarted all of your people.

Just a quick post to check in. Still no cable, Internet, or cell phone service, but I have power. Quite acceptable. Missed the grocery store closing by 5 minutes, but got a lot accomplished at the house.

Had to work yesterday, but was able to take today off. Time to leave the hot spot and keep on my trek for good food before I go back to work tomorrow.

Glad to hear most people here escaped with minimal damage like I did. Stay safe everyone!

Yes Red Cross is one of the worst charities to donate to, especially since they're not really a charity in my humble opinion. Air conditioning is a must, especially when you have breathing problems and he does not help. Also very glad to read how some people are doing better. Now as an update went to my apartment complex not really good there. Roof off of one building trees down and still no electricity,. Might not be back up for 2 to 3 weeks really not good. I asked for me my status is B+ given that I'm not there and it friends house, although might not be for long. (insert wink smiley and laughing out loud here ). I sent images of apt complex to libue to post for me. Later My ECF Friends . . .

If this was your first, it was a hell of a first. This storm is going in the record books for multiple reasons like largest storm, highest winds, most damage and the name Irma is going to be retired and never used again.

The 3 storms back to back in '04 was bad but Irma was A LOT worse.

But yes, this storm was much worse than any of those.

B=minor damage/repairs needed
C=more than minor repairs
D= major repairs need
F= total loss, may need help
OK= ok, and you want to leave it at that

Of course you dont have to rate yourself until later.

Its quite possible you wont find your damage/needs until later. I dont want to assign a status to anyone,,so I leave that to you.

If someone needs help they can email of course to see what can be done to assist you. I know that I have some vape related items I can send you if need be.

Oh wow! I went through Donna when I was in high school. My best recollection is that the eye missed us, but I went for a drive in the Everglades a few weeks later. I took the Loop Road from 40 mile bend up to Monroe Station in a Renault Dauphine. It was flooded and the car had no resistance to water at all. Some guy in a big Merc pushed me most of the way. Helpful or just couldn't pass without running off into a ditch - I'll never know.
