Well, I just pulled the trigger and ordered a Hybrid Elite Mod. I know I will have to upgrade it. Now I can't wait to get it.
Cool! Since you know ahead of time about the much-needed fix for the button, you should dig it a lot! I do like mine quite a bit. Just wish I could find a replacement top cap.....
It honestly never occurred to me to try Rainbow Heaven direct. I'll give that a shot!
I know there must be a machine shop with the capabilities to make one of these simple widgets,
but I wouldn't know where to start. I DID remember where I got my mod from originally though, and

Got my chicago screw and some ss wire today from Tractor Supply. I'll be playing later i think.
Right on! I just found out that we've got a Tractor Supply in my town. I think I need to pay them a visit at some point. I still don't think I've got the tools or skills required to cut the screw to fit. Not that I "need" another one anyway. Mine's working dandy, I just want to have a spare. On account of I'm a klutz and a doofus. 
I can not get jack apart, except the button assembly and the cover.... I am ghoing to royally F it up. I can not get a hold on the end of the button enough to apply torx and not crush the aluminum. what the hell.
try using heat. the threads are locked with a thread locker. if the thread lock is heated up it will become soft and break free. you can also use electrical tape to put on the ends of your pliers / vice grips to protect the button. its made out of brass and chrome plated.
I use vise grips on the edges of the button not the ring lock? There is less than a a nickels thickness to grab with the vise G.. holy crap... Should I use a torch on it? Wo.t that melt the isolator... How do I heat it... I am sorry I am so stupid.. I am used to working on SS mods not aluminum

when i took it apart i didnt use heat, i just figured that would help. i twisted it to the point where i figured it would brake and i was so ...... it didnt matter but it came loose / i did my little dance and all was well haha but yeah "grip the button" not the lock ring.
It came Saturday. I do like the way it looks. It does perform like a $50 dollar mod but with a little work it should perform a lot better. I did use the mesh that came with it and did a 4 wrap. Flavor good but it does need the mod on the switch. Over all I like this mod and will use it daily once the switch is modded.
I got in touch with the vendor I got mine from originally about a replacement top cap. He didn't have any spares in silver but intimated that since I was a repeat customer (and I live fairly close by) that if he can put his mits on one, he's shoot it my way. Which is super great.
Finally got all my stuff together and some free time. Gonna see if i can't get my switch fixed up and working. I also got various sizes of Ekowool, hollow and solid as well as some XS-116 to try out. Hopefully be rocking tonight.

We know this was a common problem with these devices. If you want some please contact us tomorrow at 803-226-0475 and we will make arrangements to get them to you. We only have a limited supply so first come first serve. We will also post the sizes of the O Rings tomorrow so you can go to your local Fastenal to pick them up!! Easy fix and very cheap!!
Has anyone been having problems with it not firing at all? When I received it, I put a mesh wick and 28g Kanthal 3/4 wrap on the top, and put in a fresh AW 18350, and I felt the bottom section heating up, but the coils didn't heat at all. I tried several other wick and coil materials, tried an 18650 battery, and even tried pulling the bottom spring up to see if it would make better contact, but nothing seems to be heating the top posts. Is this just a dud, or is there a fix? Sorry if this might have been addressed before, and thanks for any help.
You probably need to modify the switch. If you read through the thread there are various fixes for it depending on what tools you have available to you.
I was about to brake down and order a Noble 1 colored tank and shave it to fit the Elite then i noticed we have a choice to order colored tanks for the Elite. only problem is we dont have the link to add them to the cart. look for SIZE#13 in the link below. youll see what i`m trying to say. i did send a message about it. once i get a response i`ll repost it.
