I have a few of questions so bare with me if you can. I just started to dip my hands into rba's and my new vv/vw device just crapped out. At first I was thinking I'd suck it up and buy a provari and then I found out that vv/vw devices are actually not the best for rba's. So now I am shifting my gaze to mechs. My only RBA is an AGI and I am a little bit concerned about how this genesis atomizer will work with a mech because I read that the center coil has some resistance to it. I am thinking it may be hard to get the coils below 1.0 -.7 ohm? So now I am looking for mechs and I have no idea what I am looking for. My friend uses a GUS which I assume would be good if I could find one in stock. Everywhere else I've looked I was merely going off of appearances which seemly cant be the best strategy. So I am wondering what are some features to look for in a good mech? Amp limit maybe? However many sites don't list amp limits and amp limits on a mech is still something I don't fully understand. Wouldn't amp limit on a mech come from the battery? Anyways I wan't a mech that fits an 18650 battery, that is well built, and that will complement my AGI. Also I don't particularly like the mechs with protruding buttons. Thank you

Mech mods have NO electronics - NONE
Anything regarding amps would come from how your battery performs unless you use a kick.

Sub ohms are nice, but beware of your nicotine. Its real easy to get more than you need.
I usually end up around 1.2-ish ohms which is too low for my VAMO to fire so I got a k100. Its was around $40 and let me dip my foot into the world of mech mods without spending a fortune.

When using my mechs, I also like to stay around 1.2ohms. It's enough of a hard-hitting vape for me at that resistance. There are literally hundreds of mechanicals out there with prices ranging from $30 or $40 to the hundreds. The APV forum here can give you some ideas, but a decent one like the K100/K101 can be had for not too much and these are more than adequate to get you started.

Also, some of the more pricier mechs have nicer threading or the ability to adjust the 'gap' between your connector to your delivery device.

A friend of mine has a Natural - I think Smoktech makes it. Its very pretty, nice weight and easy to fire. NIIIIICEEEE threading.

Super-T Manufacturing usually has good mech mods in stock. I think they are building surplus right now though.
They do happen to have an 18650 model in stock and ready to ship though. You might want to look there.
They are made in the United States and they have Rhodium plated firing pin/internal parts (great conductivity)

The K100, the CCTS, the Sigelei mechanical mods.. These are very popular these days. The Electric Angel...
There are a TON of mechanical mods around. The Legacy is made in the United States & now has a Flat top ring.
The Altsmoke Silver Bullet is a fun semi mech mod (it does have wires) that would work good with a low res coil.
The Saber Touch is US made. The Nhaler is around. The GLV. The Galileo is US made.

You've got a lot of options and I think your best bet is to hit the APV discussion board +
the "show us pictures of your PVs" thread is a great place to gather.. "inspiration" as well... ;)
Enjoy the vape journey.

I have a Natural and I am quite pleased with it...SS, nicely made, good threading, no issues whatsoever out of the box.

what kind of material has the best conductivity then? ss? what is the best firing pin? A rhodium plated firing pin sounds pretty legit to me. what kind of conductivity does the golden greek have?

I am thinking about Caravella Clone Version 2 but it doesn't say what type of firing pin it uses and I am a little bit leery about clones from china. Then there is the UDT-V8 which looks nice but also doesn't have much info on it firing pin and what not. Any advice? I am still not 100% sure how to choose a device considering most vendors aren't listing these things. And unfortunately the the super T 18650 is already gone or I couldn't find it, I liked that one.

I think i am right in saying silver has the highest conductivity of all and that is why it is used for Non-resistance (NR) wire. The rhodium is used because it combines conductivity with corrosion resistance.

They are all nice mods and really it's just down to your budget and preference. FWIW, my first mod was a Silver Bullet - and i still have it. The advice to test any coils you make is valuable.

Well just ordered a pretty cheep smoktech bullet from naturevaper. I am really just tired of using my old ego c (long story). So I decided I need a mech that is cheep and reliable for now. I intend on getting a higher quality mech sometime soon down the line when more stock shows up or whatever. For now the the bullet looks okay aesthetically, the aluminum is actually a pretty decent conductor, and it was pretty cheep price wise. I hope that I made a good choice overall. I was thinking more short term than long term though so I guess we'll see. Thank you to everyone who posted here.

Have you seen the k100 empire clone? Fasttech has them in stick now for $38 with coupon. I ordered one tonight myself. They also have the gg clone now.

The smok natural is another one i was looking at but it wont hold a single 18350 and thats a big bummer for me as i wanted something more compact for work.

The Natural DOES hold a single 18350 battery. You remove the one section and waa-lah! Its about the size of a 30 ml e juice container in 350 mode.

i second aqrhine's suggestion. i know some folks believe in "buy once and buy HIGH QUALITY" but i must say. living near china has its benefits. importing cheapo mods and experimenting has been a fun pastime for me the last few months... Fasttechs stuff comes in relatively late. but for that price i cant really complain. and that KTS mod they got there looks pretty decent to me... im thinking of breaking into a mechanical with them first. IF they melt or blow. meh. its not a 400 dollar custom buttshined gold leaf titanium tube..

btw it might pay off to buy some cheap fuses for the battery too.. seeing this is your first mecha mod.... i know im gonna invest in some :)
