I went into a local vape shop (funny, those didn't exist when I was vaping carto tanks) and the selection was just outrageous. SO many options. I have SO many crud atomizers in my bin that id really like to hop straight to a good RTA and RDA.

My most recent atomizers are the magma (which I love for flavor, I think it has to do with the airflow hitting from the bottom) and it holds probably about 1ml so you can drip quite a bit. The other one I use is the avocado. I don't like it as much, the flavor is good but not great and the airflow isn't adjustable enough. I use a dna 200 and a DNA 75 as my main mods (recent acquisitions).

So if anyone could bring me up to speed on today's best RDA(s) and RTA(s) it would be greatly appreciated. Looking at my $100 russian 91 sitting there just hurts that its wasted. I gave a bunch of gear away but I found that when you give it away people don't try at it at all.

So high on my list, #1 Flavor, #2 Airflow options (from behind coil like avocado with bottom of coil and front of coil would be amazing if such a thing exists) but also adjust ability so I don't have to be blowing giant clouds all the time, #3 a RTA that pretty much won't leak under normal circumstances but still flavor is paramount. Also, I really want to spend as little as possible on these (I have wayyy to many atties aka cash in the bin already), so if I have to get a china knock off for proof of concept im up for that but I can't be tossing down serious coin for stuff that I might not like so $100 atties are out of the question.

Any help for this out of touch old timer would be greatly appreciated.

Wow you are going to get a lot of opinions. I am going to assume since you like RDA's you are a Direct to Lung vape'r.

My absolute fav RTA right now is the Griffin 25 Plus. Absolute wonderful device huge build deck holds 5ml of juice great air flow control great flavor superb wicking, never a dry hit unless you let the tank go dry.

I am a direct to lung vapor. I can't use the chokingly tight draws but I also don't like super wide open draws with big chuff drip tips (I don't enjoy blowing clouds, my clouds are too big for my own comfort). On my way to check out the Griffin 25.

Oh a GIANT one I should have put out there is ease of build. I want the easiest of easy to build possible. At the very least if its a dual coil device it has 4 lead holes.

If you find yourself enjoying the Griffin you might also like to try the Velocity V2. The build deck is fairly well the same thing. Currently, I am using a Goon & a Narda but have used the Velocity V2s. They did well, too.

ETA: The Velocity rdas do have chuff caps. They also have 510 drip adapter caps too. You can adjust the airflow wide open or tight as you like with them. They have two posts each with two holes that are adequate for standard Kanthal A1 wire builds. Some are preferring the clamp decks now as they move into fancier builds with Clapton wire, three strand, four strand wire. I'm using a Clapton single coil in a Narda without any issue, it uses simple screws.

Yea i forgot to mention the 25+ also has top filling, can also get at the build deck with a full tank so no need for all that mess, juice flow shut off. The air flow is also shnazzy with its clicking system not too hard to turn but clicks to hold in place so you dont bump it out of the way. Also has top air flow if you want to test that out. I use it for some flavors when im in the mood for it that way.

I like my Griffin 22. Reason why is because the airflow is open but it's a restricted dl, really reminds of me of the KF5 wide open. It's easy to build on but your' wicking has to be perfect. The Kayfun v5 can also be used for direct lung if you like a restricted draw it's also very easy to work with.

The Sense RTA-2 has me interested. Any advice on who carries the original (not like the 3rd copy from the original if you know what I mean?) I had a cthulu (or have) but it was soo small to work with and it looked similar to the Sense but its construction was crap, terrible grub screws etc.

I have the first version and really like it, but I am really liking the looks of the V2 with those juice channels. May have to try one of those out!

the 25 plus is way better, wicks like a dripper , no poking wicks into juice wells anymore just lay it down and done. While the 25 was a step up from 22 they were essentially same wicking, 25 plus is leaps better. I chain vape and never a dry wick. Only thing special to do is keep wick from touching the top of the 4 airflow tubes. Leak free simple wicking, love it

Sense Herakles RTA-2 Tank Kit (is that the right thing)? My only concern is the 6ml tanks, the chimney distance always killed flavor of other large volume tanks. Id rather have 3ml and it be short for flavor.

Quite honestly? I've seen no reason to retire my gennies (RSST) just because there's something new out there. Insulated wick hole, works fantastic with mesh wicks (for flavor), and making the coil is about as simple as it gets.

OBS Engine. Top air, top fill, dual coil, dead simple to build and wick, and requires a real effort on your part to make it leak. Flavor is outstanding and clouds are very good as well if you care about them.

I like them both, I'm a big fan of griffin so I'm biased towards it as I have (4) of them. The Aromamizer build quality is awesome, better than all my griffins. Threads are perfect, it's all tight together. Aromamizer is way easier to wick IMO, griffins take some practice to get right. Griffin 25 has a top air flow option, which I have but don't use as it kills flavor for me. I wish I got the bottom-only version. It's on the list. The top air flow also leaks when you take the tank off and set it top-side down to work on coils, which is a pain. The bottom only griffins I have don't do that. I prefer the griffin bottom-up airflow design as any coil pops don't end up on my arm or around the house. The Aromamizer has open side airflow so coil popping can come out of the airholes.

Both have huge juice capacity, good flavor, and awesome huge build decks. I build big dual clapton setups and chain-vape at 70 watts on both of them regularly. I think the Aromamizer is slightly airier wide open, but both can be adjusted down if that isn't your thing. If I had to choose between the two I own, it'd be the Aromamizer. But if my G25 didn't have the top air flow, I'd most likely choose the Griffin 25. Though I will say again... the Aromamizer Supreme build quality is amazing.

Also, the Griffin 25 plus is the model I'd get if I were buying one right now. It's next on my list, but since I have no experience with it yet...

No finicky wicking, superior wicking, slightly better flavor than the 25. I love it!! My wife's 25 went bad from too many drops (she is clumsy) so i took the opportunity to get 25+'s one for her and of course i couldnt be left in the dust so i got me one too. Absolutely love the wicking i do not dread wicking it again because it is so simple! no having to be the perfect length to just get in the juice wells no having to taper the ends to not create any pinch in the wicking it just works!
