So, over the past few weeks my poor, poor friends have had to listen to me bang on about my e-cig and how good it is...I've had one official convert from analogues to the e-cig and today I found out that one of my non-smoker friends has been looking into e-cigs and knows more about them than me! 'Did you know about this flavour? Have you tried a smokymizer? Why is the voltage on your battery so low?'- I'm like...dude! It's totally cool and I'm really excited because he might get other people onto it but has anyone else had this?x

Actually I have as well!

Long story short backstory--- Grew up with this gal who's mom smoked growing up. She always wanted to try smoking, did once or twice but never picked up the habit. How lucky for her.

When she randomly bought an e-cigg, it was e-cigg or a pack of smokes after a horrible break up. Then she suddenly moved away and I'm not sure if she's still using it or not. I do know she enjoyed what she ended up with, and I think it was a better alternative than smokes.

I found it kind of peculiar at the time, but gave her the tips I could. Hell, I led her to a couple reputable vendors! I figured if she's going to do it, she may as well have my knowledge to lead the way. Her firefly eGo clone was really cool though. Loved how it changed colors based on how much battery life was left. I think it had a little nightlight/pointer light on the tip too!

I'm not sure I'd be bragging about that. While vaping is better than smoking I'm not interested in giving a bad habit to someone. They should not do it. We are better off with vaping than smoking but a non-smoker has no excuse to pic up an addition. I'd try and steer them clear if your their friend.

It an old argument and I just have to put it out there - every adult is responsible for the choices they make. You cannot "give" them anything they dont choose to take on themselves. I really stress this to my 15 year old son - he is totally responsible for every choice he makes in life. Good and bad. That means one has to determine for ourselves what is "good and bad" and be responsible enough to explore every idea before we take it on. "so and so said" is not good enough no matter what choice we make.

Frankly it is not my business to decide other adults cannot make responsible choices for themselves. In fact, I rather prefer to think my friends are capable of getting on in life without my direction or influence to "do the right thing". They usually surprise me by being better at their own lives than I could do for them.

Sorry for the rant - spending time with the teen seems to bring out these things in me :)

I would never want a person to start vaping if they dont smoke/chew tobacco products. I would hate it if e cigs became a fad/cool thing rather being a smoking cessation device. I can imagine it now. a politician will make some baseless claim that e cigs are being used to turn non smokers into smokers/ nic fiends and e cigs should be banned. you know that anti smokers and gullible people would actually support a ban. just the thought is scary or its just me overreacting

OK, I think this may have been misconstrued. My friend has looked into it from interest to understand what I'm talking about. He's not thinking about buying one or taking up a nicotine addiction through whatever delivery system. He really is just looking into it in order to better understand it. He's very supportive of me getting off the analogues. By the same token, he might look up patches or gum in order to better understand how they work and how they would help me. Also, consider that he likes gizmos and knowing how things work. He is learning and being a good, supportive friend- I have had plenty of friends who have been less supportive and have dismissed the idea outright. My ex-smoker ex-boyfriend was not supportive at all and refused to listen when I tried to explain what an e-cig does and how it helped me. That somebody is genuinely interested in learning about e-cigs and can maybe pass on this knowledge and (hopefully) the good news as to how they've helped me, maybe he can tell other smokers he knows about them and get smokers trying out e-cigs. I would also like to point out that my non-smoking grandmother got me to try an e-cig after she'd heard about them and this hasn't made her want to take it up. Talking about it and getting people to understand what they're about is a good thing, right? I think it's wonderful to know that I have at least one friend who actually cares enough to find out for himself about how I've given up the analogues and now supports me. That's a true friend.

P.S. Awwwww....I have a really good friend there don't I?! I think I'll have to give him a big hug when I see him later!

the title of the thread is misleading, thats why people are getting the wrong idea. personally, the only person who should convert a smoker to e cigs is someone like yourself who has quit and picked up vaping. I would be real skeptical about e cigs if someone who didnt smoke tried to convince me that there is this easy to kick an addictive habit whrn he/she doesnt know the feeling. this is my second attempt at vaping and I dismissed the idea of vaping after a non smoker told me to pick up blu. that failed miserably up until I met people with ego batteries and lavatubes and they convinced me to not give up on vaping.
