I WAS a roughly 30cig a day smoker L&M Menthol 100s, Ive got 2 cigs left so starting tomorrow i will be strictly a vaper, i have 2 bottles 6mg and 3 bottles 3mg, i dont understand how much nicotine in a cig vs vapor....i got from zample a bottle of raspberry creme and i vaped a 4.5ML tank in like 5hours its 3mg nicotine it was just so tasty, am i better of smoking or vapeing due to nicotine content? im sure over time i wont vape as much, but a 4.5ML tank of 3mg juice that was like 12mg+ of nicotine in that tank? Im sorry haha i really dont understand how this stuff works out compared to a cig. i plan on moving to 0mg next month..i just dont wanna move up to 16mg juice because i vape to much it just taste so much better than a ashtray.

It sounds to me as if you need 12 mg nicotine unless you are going to be syb ohming.

I would get a second Atty andva bottle of 12 mg nic, and hit the 12 mg nicotine those times you just have to have a cigarette like with coffee, after dinner, and times of stress.

I would advise not cutting down/out your nicotine too quickly. For many vapers it happens organically, you'll just find you need less over time. Worst thing to do would be to treat it like the patch regimen, there's a reason that doesn't work.

Redbeard your body will tell you how much nic you need to make a full transition. Follow the lead of your cravings, this isn't something you can really predict in advance. Have some higher strength liquids on hand just in case. I smoked light 100's and am still on 12mg nic after 3 years.

that 4.5ml tank of 3mg is probably less harmful than one cigarette.

I wouldn't worry about nicotine ... focus on getting off the smokes first.

welcome and good luck
I would say 3 of those tanks a day is about the same as 1-1.5 cigarettes.

If you up your nicotine he wont feel The need to vape all the time.

When i vaped 18 mg i could take 8-10 puffs and couldvsit it down for about 90 minutes.

Me too. 18 mg did the trick for me in the early stages, actually I think it was totally necessary to achieve satisfaction. To much of it though kicked my .....

i dont understand how much nicotine in a cig vs vapor...
It's apples and oranges, really. I think I remember hearing once, long ago, that a "typical" tobacco cigarette has about 7mg of nicotine, but only about 1mg of that is absorbed by the body when you smoke it. But the nic in cigarettes is in a different form, mostly in the form of nic salts, than the freebase nic that's in our vapes, and it's absorbed differently by the body, and there's so far no real indication of how much of it we do absorb. In any case, your body will let you know when you've had enough, or too much. You might want to keep some stronger liquid handy, say 12mg/ml, just for if and when you get a real strong cigarette craving. On the other hand, you might also want some real low nic (you're already using 3, so like 1.5 or zero maybe) for when you're just enjoying vaping for the sake of it, and not trying to get all nic'd out.

am i better of smoking or vapeing due to nicotine content?
No matter what the nicotine content, I'm almost positive you're better off vaping. It's not the nic that kills you, it's the smoke byproducts. With vaping, there is no smoke, and so it can't not be healthier.

Just a couple simple thoughts for you:
1 - Cigarettes are not bad because of the nicotine. Don't misinterpret that - they are horrible - but it's not because of the nicotine!! If you stop smoking, and vape - but your nic intake increases - it's OK, you will still FEEL BETTER and be HEALTHIER.

2 - Once you're vaping, it's easy to slowly reduce nicotine if you want to. Especially if you mix your own liquid - but even if you don't. You could start with 12 mg. Then mix 12 and 6 together to get 9mg strength for a while. Then go to 6. Etc.

And I'm telling you - from my experience - it's not hard to do. You don't "crave" nicotine from vaping like you would "crave" a cigarette...

I was a 40 year 3 pad chain smoker when I began vaping 4 years ago. Back then I was using a cig-sized with cartomizers. I started on 24mg liquid (about 5-6 mils per day).

After 2-3 months I started to notice I was getting woozy and anxiety and sleeplessness. Over the next years I cut back. First to 21mg, then 18mg, 15mg, 12mg, 9mg, 7.5mg, 6mg, 5, 4, 3. That's were I am today. If I got cravings, I would go back up...woozy, drop down.

I also noticed that caffeine and sugar were having more of an effect on me...so had to cut back on those for a couple of months.

It really is a "listen to your body" kind of thing.

If you are blowing clouds from a tank with an open draw that allows direct to lung hits then you need less nic. If you are puffing like you did with a cigarette you may need as much as 18mg. I vaped 24mg nic for a couple of years after quitting smoking. When I decided to taper down I went down in increments when I ordered juice, from 24 to 18 to 12 to 6 to 3 in about 4 months. Dropping the nic level was easy.

You might find that it's more the hand to mouth actions that you are addicted to. Blowing out vapor is a satisfying thing that replaces the need for a cigarette.

Actually, yes - "chain vaping" IS quite normal - especially as you are fiddling with new equipment, getting the hang of it, trying new settings to get just the right vape for you.

I STILL do that, 3 years in - but not all the time.

As I said - you don't get "jumpy" if you find yourself too busy to vape, or in a no-vaping situation for a couple hours - like you might have with cigs.

I still bring a mod with me everywhere pretty much - even for a 10 minute errand...but if I forgot it, I wouldn't freak out and turn around...
:D

Go ahead - chain vape and enjoy.
And as mentioned above - if you get "woozy" - that's probably too much nic - slow down or cut the strength...

Oh yeah - I started on 24mg on older style gear, and now I'm vaping 7 mg.
I mix my own liquid, and I've just been dropping it a little every couple batches - don't even notice.

went through a 3mg 4.5ML tank of raspberry creme, a 3mg 4.5ml tank of supernova and im about to load up another 3mg 4.5ML tank. im enjoying this much more than smoking, hopefully tomorrow i can breathe better, i bet ive cut out 25cigs today with this wonderful vape pen!
It really is wonderful. Being able to quit smoking and enjoying it's replacement immensely, who woulda thought? I put off trying it for months, thought it was a gimmick. Nope, it works and it works really well.
