I still check in there some. But, posting there is way over my head. And, I even had to stop reading there as often. My rule is, stop reading when I feel an anxiety attack coming on. Then, stay away for at least a week.

I have a similar problem with that area; I either get frantic with anxiety, or completely enraged. I have to consult my "tolerance for stupid BS" meter before I read anything in that area. :D

DC2, if it's meant to be, you don't really need to buy a ticket. You'll find the winning ticket that someone else bought and dropped in the parking lot.

Joke:

Man watches lottery drawing every night, constantly praying, "let me win the lottery, let me win the lottery." This goes on for sometime... till finally, there's a booming, echoing voice: "Meeeeet Meeeee Haaaalfwaaaaay.... Buyyyyy a ticketttttt!"

:D

I don't bother with it anymore then I bother with alarmist news sections on other forums plus right now most of my activist time is taken up trying to defend the disabled from the government here in the UK infinitely more important then vaping. I know a number of MP's in the UK from across the main political parties and when I've mentioned bans or any other action on vaping I get basically get the same sort of answer mainly that there are other more important issues to occupy parliamentary time then vaping and its only mentioned in private members bills none of which have got anywhere. I do my bit by Being open to anyone who comes upto me in the street and engaging them politely and openly always asking them to research it further if they wish too not by engaging people on the net who are set in their position and nothing is gonna change a damn thing.

Thanks for all the replies so far, and for keeping it civil and allowing people to have their say.
:)

But if I did that I'd have to spend the rest of my life trying to track down the person so I could give them all the monies.
Sounds more like a curse than a blessing if you ask me.

In my happy place
I almost missed this thread. If I did not see a link to it in one of the other threads in the news sub-forum. I can understand why many people become passive and disillusioned. Day after day the ANTZ put out their lies, repeating things that have been debunked over and over, then the political parties and public health people take the crap spun by ANTZ and preach as loud as they can. They try to avoid, and when they can't avoid public comment, hold meetings. Vapers step up to talk and tell their story maybe some have facts from peer reviewed studies but no one is listening to us. The ANTZ are playing with a stacked deck. They pull in Doctors to repeat the lies and half truths, the may be's and could happens. Then they vote to ban it regardless of the facts.

But over the past few months the tide is turning. In a little more than a month the Republicans will take over Congress, many Governor offices will change from D to R, the facts from the studies are getting harder to ignore, even from Gantz. We are fighting decades of propaganda and lies. Come to the news sub-forum and start reading, one of two things will happen, ether you will get ...... off and join the fight or you will get depressed and join the fight. It is well worth it even if you plan to quit vaping in the future. If we win some of the up coming battles it will save many lives.

I read it all the time - even subscribed to many threads and befriended active posters in that sub just so I can keep abreast. I find that I post only rarely, however. Mostly, it's because the threads usually start with a broadcast of information of some sort, followed by statements of outrage/support - the OP usually contains some useful bit of info or a CTA, the ensuing discussion often not so much (at least, it doesn't entice me to respond, generally). Some people like political discussion. I tend to like political/policy/action information.

As I said, however, having the subforum is vital to this community and I do pay close attention to it.

Same here. That is what the "news" subforum is for, to my mind. Read information. Post information when you find some. = Share information.
See links to nonsense crap stated by ANTZ. Wrinkle forehead. Turn up nose and shake head.
Read (enjoy) texts / links to texts debunking said nonsense crap that was stated by ANTZ. Post such texts when you find them first. = Share information.

The discussion can also be interesting at times.
There are people from whom I can learn. Gain knowledge, facts. And learn new kinds of wording things, how to put things, how to phrase things. Very useful at times.

Lately, "the other side" has stuck their nose into the "news" subforum as well. Attempting to spread lies, nonsense, fearmongering about vaping. But thankfully, the "news" subforum is frequented by several ECF officials who do not take kindly to that. *smiles*

All in all, the "news" subforum is very informative. It is a place to gather knowledge, keep up to date.

(and let me repeat: it is not a place for anti-vaping astroturf)

One does not necessarily need to be a vaper to support it. The non-vaping public is being spoon-fed misinformation by government agencies in order to manipulate their opinion. The public should be outraged by this kind of activity alone, whether it's in regard to vaping or anything else. Having up-to-date information helps me to inform others, and hopefully keep them from swallowing the government line without knowing any better. ECF is one very good source for that information.

absolutely :thumb:
And who says that the news is always bad? Who says that ordinary citizens are not waking up and standing up to the new paternalists?
This here was posted in the "news":
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/18/u...t_tnt_20141117&nlid=60534081&tntemail0=y&_r=3

And I am happy to tell you that the proposed ban on selling tobacco and e-cigs in this town did not go through.
YEAH for the citizens of America! :thumb:

Most proposals never get through but people like to spread scary gossip.

And sometimes proposals are defeated because people spoke out.. Westminster MA recently against a tobacco ban and in history 'The British are Coming!' (ok, so that's not what Paul Revere really said but he and Dawes spread the word). There is a danger in presuming things are just gossip.

But I would really like to understand some of the reasons why more people don't read this subforum...
Electronic Cigarette News and Campaigning

I consider it THE most important subforum here.
And I wish every vaper was reading it no matter what they believe.

I am afraid this could get very contentious, and I would like to beg that people try to stay away from inflammatory posts in THIS thread.

I want to hear about why people may not be participating in the fight to protect electronic cigarettes.
But I am afraid that some of the answers will turn political, or get into issues of respect and manners and the like.

I hope that in this one thread, for one time only, we can let people post their opposing viewpoints without refutation.
Otherwise this thread will blow up quickly.

Again, I just want to understand, and let those that avoid that subforum give their thoughts without being attacked in any way.
Maybe we can all learn something from each other?

I predict this will be one of my least successful threads.
But I had to try.
:)

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I read it and don't get involved. It is too one-sided and if I express an opposing view I get jumped on for being a non believer. The forum is the choir preaching to the choir and if anyone disagrees they get jumped on for heresy. The OP of this thread is typically the first to refute comments and engage in all of the behavior and do everything he said to not do on this thread he started.

As Mike Ditka famously said: "DON'T CRAP ME."

I have been reading in there, and my mind warps. Anyway, it is now a subscribed thread for me, so I'll be in there every day getting the cobwebs cleared out. I guess one of the things I've never understood about humans is how some of us just can't seem to keep our noses out of other people's private business.

Tell me about it. The puritans are the worst. They're absolutely sure that they know what is best for EVERYONE and they intend to see that it gets done, no matter what EVERYONE thinks about it. And usually they're total idiots, but quite determined control freaks.

I purely hate control freaks.

Maybe you misinterpret the motivations of most of the posters.

My personal motivation is to do everything I can to make sure that the options we have now continue to exist for those who still smoke.
Some day those smokers may overcome the FUD that is being spread daily and decide to give this vaping thing a try.

Some of us remember back when there was nothing but cigalikes, and how very much harder it was to make this vaping thing work.

And some of us remember back when the FDA actually DID "ban" vaping until their efforts were overturned in court.
And some of us think our actions may have had a little something to do with that victory.
