The concept of vaping as a “pleasure” still strikes me as very much a minority attitude. For most here It’s about not dying rather than “gee this is fun!” The “gee this is fun!” People actually sort of disturb me. Nicotine is psychoactive. There are vastly healthier things that can be done for fun.

Meanwhile, there is an active thread asking why forum activity is down. Here you have a new member asking a legitimate question and some of you have done a great job of potentially driving her away.

Good job. Now go back to asking why activity is down.

IMO:
OP posted a Facebook level question...

Correlation is not causation.
If weight loss/gain could scientifically be linked to vaping, we would not be fielding questions like this.
Every other factor being equal, the consumption of less than a tablespoon of E ..GRAS liquid per day is statistically improbable of being the cause of significant health changes.

Cheers

like what? just for an example.
Also awaiting a reply to this. I can’t think of anything fun that does not present risks. I can’t think of anything that doesn’t present risks, for that matter.

I just don’t subscribe to the idea that we shouldn’t enjoy as much of our lives as possible. So much we have to do that is very much not enjoyable. I take my grind wherever I can find them.

'Legitimate' is not the word I would use to describe that semi-digested bolus splattered across the page.

- Nondescriptive clickbait title
- Bizarre punctuation
- Oversharing
- Soliciting medical advice
- Tapers off in a rant

Perhaps it would have received a better response had it been articulated properly:

Can vaping cause weight loss?
Hi, I'm nala's mom! I've been a vaper for four years and I've skimmed some posts on this site, and I have a problem that's affecting me. Since I had invasive abdominal surgery eight months ago, I've dropped from a BMI of 23 all the way down to 19 despite not changing my eating habits! My doctor says my hormone balance is fine and I just can't figure out the reason. This is quite concerning to me, and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask: do you think it might be caused by vaping?

When the question is expressed clearly, the answer is obvious. If vaping did not cause weight loss for the first four years, it would not be likely to have done so in the past eight months.

Situationally dependent. But you know that.
Vape unflavored 1mg juice to satisfy craving. Feel remorse and self-pity. Then for a round of tiddly-winks or rousing game of ball-in-a-cup. BALL-IN-A-CUP! What's it gonna do next? Then spin in a circle until dizzy and collapse into a beanbag chair in a fit of giggles.

Ah. Ridicule. An attempt to dive for a trap already closed.

You act like your dog just died, bomb. Laugh a little! I'm actually curious to hear your philosophy. I know you are meticulous about safety, and a minimalist. And if I recall correctly, you use nicotine strictly for therapeutic reasons?

Origionally. It’s long past time for me to get off it though and I’m having difficulty. I was warned. I didn’t heed.

Well then it's understandable that the last thing you need to hear about right now is nic enjoyment. Let me say that I admire your resolve. It would be nice to be free of this boat anchor and the uneasiness it represents, what with all this new legislation and the way it discourages me from international travel.

It’s not about that. I think the basic question is do you want to make the world a better place or do you want to make your place in the world better? I prefer A over B

I did A for many years. Right now I'm sorta enjoying doing B for a change.

I agree, go see your Doctor. I lost a lot of weight when I started vaping. A lot of weight and I thought BONUS! But then I realized it wasn't because of dieting. It was because I started the Bulimia diet at the same time. I figured if its good enough for supermodels, its good enough for me! I was throwing up all over the place (Nordstroms wasn't happy with me but I figured if I am paying retail, they can do a little customer service and break out the mop and orange scented sawdust every now and again.) The barfing didn't bother me, it was the hair loss so I decided to go the other way. Now I am almost completely round but I have a glorious head of hair.

I used to be a stubborn, self-righteous pain in the tail. Moreso than I am now. The school of hard knocks taught me that I don't have the charisma or strength of character to change the world. I was accomplishing nothing but making myself anxious and irritating everybody around me. Now I bend like the willow so I won't snap, and I do a lot better. That's a firm B. Every man is preoccupied with his own interests, so if I don't put myself first nobody will.

That seems to be the way the world is right now. Those willing to make the world worse for a large number of others in exchange for small short term gains for themselves, and those who aren’t.

You feel I am the former and I feel you are the former.

Yeah, I used to be young and idyllic once too, Like, I used to think that I could DIE for the kid but not KILL for the kid.

Now, I am like, "GIRRRLLL you NUTS? You would allow the dangerous murderous like, criminal trying to kill your kid to live while YOU left his life."

I have found that B often leads to A. If I am so fixated on the world around me, I can lose my self. If we all had a bit more self interest I sometimes feel, the world might be a better place. I raised my son to believe he was WONDERFUL and now he sort of is turning out to be JUST that.

Also I used zero corporal punishment but there were also no safe spaces.

Mainly I feel bad (Sorta) for my fatuous answer and well vaping DOES change some health conditions compared to smoking. I had to lower my thyroid.

Now, if only vaping would fix my pregnancy belly. ALAS. I will do search of non surgical methods but I bet their bogus. Other than corsets, and I am not entirely sure I want to get into that fetish..

Not yet, anyway,

Anna

My memory of pregnancy belly is the most common issue is that it separates your abdominal muscles and they don’t just grow back together again. They can be sewn, but it’s surgery. Truly Massive amounts of abdominal excercise can bring them closer together again by tightening them, but the basic change is permanent. There are various celebrities who show off flat bellies after pregnancy and claim various powder or charms or plastic doodads enabled the feat, but I personally believe they’re flat out lying. There was a lot of excercise and surgery involved, and it happened directly after the pregnancy.
