My original goal was to drop nicotine but when I did Ulcerative Colitis flared badly.
I asked Gastro about getting off nicotine and she sounded like an ANTZ rather than a doctor, "Sure, get off nicotine. If you start bleeding I'll up your meds (that have worse side effects than nicotine)."

So while I may cut my nicotine to see how far down I can go before I flare in order to make my nicotine last longer, I don't plan on getting rid of nicotine unless I have a health reason to get rid of nicotine. Even if vaping nicotine is banned and NRT regulation gets tightened I'll get a prescription for patches or go back to smoking.

I started vaping as an alternative to smoking...with my intentions to quit smoking. I didn't really think about the nicotine level thing. but after a couple of months, and realizing how easy it was (for me) to walk away from the cigs and the tar and chemicals and all that stuff I figured maybe it'd be cool if I wasn't addicted to nicotine anymore. I'd just vape because I liked to vape...not because my body demanded a "fix". So I set out to lower my nicotine very gradually and over the course of just about a year I eased down from 24 to 3.5mg. in small increments. And only when I felt my body was ready. I've been on 3.5 mg. since last Spring, and thought I'd be ready to drop again by now, but a series of unfortunate events and upheavals in my life and family and our health has slowed the process somewhat. When the time is right I'll drop down again...probably 3mg. next time. Then 2.5...then 2...then 1 or maybe just jump to 0. Dunno. I've been told that at 3.5mg. I'm not really addicted anymore, it's such a weak level. Maybe that's true, maybe not. But I have a mess of unflavored nicotine to work my way through (I DIY my juice) so ..there ya go.

EDIT...oh yeah. And I really don't want to quit vaping. I intend to continue on indefinitely, even at 0 nic. I like it!

Yup! I took a long time to find something that gives me the same joy and was better for me and those I care for. Never wanted to quit just wanted to take the damage down a notch. I sure hope they don't tell us it causes extra pinkies or purple eyeballs or something...
I don't know, purple eyeballs might be kinda sexy.

I started vaping in order to quit smoking so right now that's my main concern - staying away from cigarettes. I'm currently using 12mg to 18mg nicotine.

In the future I wouldn't mind if my vaping habit gradually tapered down. Whether or not I could give it up completely remains to be seen. Vaping is way more involved and time consuming than smoking ever was - with ordering, batteries/charging, maintenance/replacement, liquid filling/mixing, cleanup, etc. - so any reduction there would be welcome too.

I started vaping primarily to save money. We were just spending way too much on cigarettes. Getting off the analogs was a pleasant side effect - as in, no bad breath, stinky clothes, etc. I like my vapes and probably won't stop. I started with 12mg, and after finding myself sneaking a cig from time to time, went to 18mg. I'd like to get it down to 12 again or even less, but I don't have any current plans to stop vaping.

I am in the same boat. I smoked 48 yrs and so far no major health problems, not to say it won't happen but everyone I know is on expensive medication they can't afford for something. I have this strange belief that people through genetics are predisposed to certain things. It may be smoking for you or alcohol for me-who knows. My friend's 21 year old niece just died of cancer and both parent did the unmentionable drugs for years. Everything we eat nowadays is full of chemicals because it is cheaper than using the real ingredients like eggs, milk, butter, etc. Just read labels it will shock you. To place blame on every illness in this country on smoking is just ridiculous. It deserves its place as a hazard but I'd bet half of the problems were because of added chemicals.

I tried vaping at the recommend of my brother who discovered it before me, and I didn't even have the intention of quitting smoking at that point. It just happened, and I'm glad it did. If I didn't have adult A.D.D., I might reduce the nic levels or eliminate it altogether, but it does help me concentrate so I'll probably continue to use it in this form for as long as I can.

Hey nice to hear others find that nicotine alleviates adult add. I too have add. Nicotine helps a lot for me.
