I don't think the EGo is a good beginner setup.

You could be right edyle, but I think industry analysts are usually pretty good at what they do. Here's a look at one example of the data they have and pretty much what I was referring to in my last post. I think the 'other' 41% in 'e-cigarette market share' is anything other than cig-a-likes. I could certainly be wrong, but that's how I interpret this data.

E-Cigarette Market Share Market Share
njoy 32 %
Vapor (Krave) 16 %
Metro 6 %
Smoker Friendly 3 %
Blu 2 %
Other 41 %

Would 18640 lithium batteries be counted among "Other"? No way. When somebody buys a 10ml bottle of eliquid, does that count among Other? Come to think of it, it might

How many tanks does the average vaper have or use? If somebody buys 1 clearo will that be counted as "Other"? Could be....?

Look at the numbers:
Biggest market share is 41% Other compared to Njoy with 32%.
Why does "Other" outrank the top selling cigalike?
It's because there's something bigger going on instead of cigalikes.

Hold on though... those numbers are market share. Of course disposables are going to rank higher in that metric than in terms of the numbers of people using them - they're nowhere near as economical as rechargable refillable devices. Good point about batteries and juice - anything they've missed in that regard could only add to the 'other' share.

It's not a stretch to interpret that as telling us that well over 50% of users are NOT using cig-a-likes!

The price of two Ego Twists is the same as an inexpensive VV kit like an Itaste, Vamo, or Lavatube. It's just not a good idea to recommend to somebody trying to quit smoking that one battery will do if there's no way to swap batteries or hook it up to a passthrough.

I don't see how cig-a-likes are that costly. Decent KR808 cartomizers are cheaper than crappy CE4 clearomizers and they seem to be at least as reliable, if not moreso. Plenty of cig-a-like oriented companies sell blank cartomizers and e-liquid refills, and it's actually a good thing they sell pre-filled cartomizers (so that people who don't want to or can't fill them themselves don't have to mess with it).
Joye twist is like $35 at a B&M, whereas a Vamo is like $85
Joye twist is like $25 online, whereas a Vamo is like $40

knock-off twists aside

And TBH my Joye eGo-C upgrades are great for on-the-go vaping with a PT2 mini or something like that. They are exceptional with the regular Joye eGo-C setup (sans the leaking issue) or the Joye eGo-CC Tank.

Now, I actually do travel with my VV/VW mod, but my GF would NEVER leave the house with something that bug, and actually doesn't like it so much at home either.

It's a form-factor thing, and eGo batteries work just fine for a lot of applications

LOL, everything there that's not 'other' are cig-a-likes. So it's 59% cig-a-likes, 41% 'other'. Some of those 'other' could very well also be cig-a-likes and there are so many cig-a-like companies out there the little guys could add up to a few more percent. In any case, unless you've got more data that shows different IMO cig-a-likes win for most used PVs.

What I wanna know is how many of the cigalikes that are purchased are disposables. And do we count each one sold or each person buying. I have 2 very nice setups a and no intention of buying anything else other than tanks once in a while and juice obviously but I won't be buying anywhere near the volume as I would if I vaped disposable cigalikes. It just seams to be an overwhelmingly inaccurate statistic. So much so that I don't see the point in taking it seriously. Not to mention before I even discovered the world of egos, mvps, provaris and mech mods I tried a couple of disposables and a Blu. Further more some people are like my fiancé. she vapes on her Blu and gets a disposable once In a while still.

My intention is to become "not a market share".

So I buy PV's and toppers that will last. My total waste is about 3" of wick & wire/month, and a pair of IMR batteries every 1,000 charge cycles or so (about every 2.7 years)

Well, I use a fair number of different devices but still find Egos to be very useful. I don't use them with tanks or cartos, though. I use them with LR 510 attys for dripping. They last me ages (measured in years not weeks) and are simple to throw in a shirt pocket. Obviously this means carrying a 10ml bottle of liquid too - but I've been doing this for so long that it's second nature. They're also great for stealth vaping. I still think they're a great beginner choice, too. Cigalikes? There are much better options out there nowadays.

Your kit etc still counts towards that 41%. Just you get _many_ more days use from that spend :)

My intention is simply to never again be any part of tobacco's market share! And to some extent that's still a money-no-object quest at this stage (1 month), but still no reason to even try out anything disposable.

Someone gave me an eGo. Bought one tank and some liquid. I was hooked. Ordered on line a two eGo starter kit and loved it.
Then moved up to Mini Pro Tanks on the ego's and totally stopped all analogs. Now on Mod's.
Not sure I could have gone straight to the Vamo or a MOD, but it would have been cheaper.
I still use a couple of eGo's with Kanger Min Pro Tanks for travel, car, out of the house. Plus I like having different flavors to use throughout the day.
When I am asked by someone starting out, if they can't handle the larger size, I would eGo Twist with Mini Pro Tank.
But agree with you, something bigger is better!
