It does have to be recharged too...not sure offhand how many hours though. Thought I saw 10 somewhere, but could be wrong on that.

Yeah mAh is simply the storage capacity of the battery, it has nothing to do with it.
Both devices have 1 Amp (or 1000 mA) output current - but not the same voltage.
The classic equation...
Watts = Amps x Volts
So more Watts would be acting on the coil with the Amstron Compact Solar Charger, thus heating it up more.
Increasing voltage increases heat - anyone who overclocks computers will tell you as much.
They're always careful to keep the voltage as low as possible so that the temps don't go into dangerous territory.

You'd just need to purchase an adapter for it Lu - they come in every possible configuration for USB.
If you're talking about the "7 whr" spec, that's watt-hours, also a measure of capacity, like mAh. I might be confused but if we're still talking about the solar device, that still only has a max output of 1A, or 1,000mA.
I'm not sure if coils heating up is the same as transistors in a CPU core heating up. It could be that voltage is also a factor in the temp of the heating coil, but I just don't know.

They both do, and that's exactly the optimal level desired for a vaping device. Anything around 900-1000mA is fine.
Well, it unquestionably is a factor. If you read through some of the mod threads here, you'll see that using 4 AA batteries in series runs the atomizers a lot hotter than only 3 do (that's purely a function of the voltage difference).
Voltage is the "push" of the electrons. When they move faster, temps increase.
Thank you that explains a lot of what I was wondering, but do you think the .5 volts would be a big factor. The magnum mod uses like 6 volts right but the you have a drop off of volts because of the batteries. This is confusing maybe I'll just get the apc sounds better anyway. I don't want to get stuck out on a cloudy day! If I could solider this would just make a magnum .

Yes, the APC all the way - we already know from others here how much it rocks.
I personally wouldn't be comfortable with that other solar device on these high capacity batteries pinto, because as you mention, there's virtually no dropoff - that's a pretty big factor which can't be glossed over.
The power output is pedal to the metal the whole time, no voltage slack is needed here as it would be on smaller batteries.
Imagine how dangerous a self-clean would be? I wouldn't risk going higher than 5V - that extra half volt may be the straw that breaks your atomizer's back.
Having some problems with this Battech thing this morning - it may be faulty, not sure what the problem is yet.
I'll get back later after I've re-charged the thing again but, in the meantime, If anyone's thinking about buying one of these I'd suggest that you hold back until I can find out what's wrong ...............

PS - the 1st led has just changed from red to green - according to the blurb this means it is now fully charged, I think this may be a mistake and ALL the green lights need to be on if it's fully charged - hope so anyway, fingers crossed........

I really envy you all your low $ prices. I have searched the UK online and in the end paid £39.99 (post free) at Amazon for the APC since it seems general agreement is this is the best; ebay do have one in auction for £29 (+ 2.50 p&p) but I am not in the mood to wait around and snipe, so decided to stop wasting time searching. Nobody seems to be selling them for much under £40 and sometimes more.

Here is one that works really well. Charges in about 3 hours. It has 4000mwh and lasts for days. The batteries are 1.2v so they work in other devices if needed. I like mine so much I have 2.

i see that us people in the uk can get the dse 901 usb passthrough on 23rd of jan from e-cigs. co.uk can't wait for this will cost £20 not bad in my opinion.

Late to the ballgame, just received my APC UPB10 mobile power pac today. All charged up and ready to go, baby! Even better drags with my USB passthrough than my powered USB hub, plus now I'm portable!

I got both a Powermonkey and a Powerkhan usb battery.
The Powerkhan doesn't provide enough power even tho on a foreign website it said it can output 1.3amps!
The powermonkey I bought from Maplin after being ...... off that the Powerkhan didn't work and it said on the back of the packaging its output is 1.1amps! Nope fraid not, still completely useless with a USB passthrough, not enough vapor and no throat hit!
I was thinking of a USB splitter cable like the ones sometimes used to power portable hard drives from 2 USB ports, haven't found one yet tho!
Well I could just write them off and use them for charging...ya know mobile telephones and get an APC on Friday or wait for Simon at e-cigs to get them, he says he is also looking for the right USB battery to sell. Unfortunately I just spent over £30 on these 2, so the APC in the UK is expensive but I could have got one instead grrrr!

2) The packaging was a shambles. Plain brown envelope, no bubblewrap - all the way from HK.
3) Mine is still going strong after very light usage during the last couple of days. Even so, doubt very much the 10,000 Mah is true.
Upsides
1) It works a treat, tremendous hit and vapour
2) It's cheap.
