I don't know about everyone else, but I have been using the usb passthrough battery and both a battery pack and plugging in.

I find for myself (heavy user) that the battery pack clipped to pocket/waistband, whatever, then with the passthrough plugged into it, that it's not near as inconvenient as worrying about battery charge. I do still use batteries quite a bit though, for those times on the go or when I just don't want the battery pack on me.

For me, it's working best to have a choice of tools, but even with all those things to keep up with, it's so much better than keeping analogs and lighters and ashtrays and etc etc. Not to mention that this is a MUCH lower hassle level than carrying around an oxygen tank with a cannula in your nose and that's where I was headed.

Everyone has to make their own choices based on their lifestyle, habits, smoking preferences and budget, but I am a junky to e-vaping, so I choose them ALL.

Maybe need to go to E-HAB ! ! ! !

I thought I read that something charges your batteries in a short time and lasts 3 days. It didn't say anything about carrying it around. Do you know what I mean? I'll buy a different style. I want it to be easy, like token on a regular cig.

And do you know what style and website to go to?

Thank you!!!

No. It all started with somebody coming up with a way to hook your e-cig directly to a USB port in your computer, so you wouldn't be wasting batteries while sitting at the computer. The USB port powers the cig. Then the idea came about to purchase a portable battery pack that has a USB port so you could be mobile and have longer-lasting battery power than the regular e-cig battery. That's what they're talking about in this thread. So you'd need an e-cig that has a USB adaptor made for it. Mine does and it's a generic penstyle. Then you can buy the USB adaptor and a battery pack but you'd be carrying the battery pack with you and your e-cig would be hooked to it with a wire.

Hope that explains it better. It's just a longer-lasting battery option but a bit cumbersome compared to a standard e-cig. However, you can vape all day without recharging if you get the right one, so that's a consideration also.

Question??

It's probally some where else on the forum, but since everyones talking, figured I would ask.

I figured that the chip that does self cleaning and safety checks and crap would be in the battery, i'm sure that puresmokers passthrough finds away around this, but what about someone who doesn't use a 901 compatable device and wants to try to build a mod?

Any help? Info?

Not that cumbersome. The external battery pack is smaller than a deck of cards and fits handily in a pocket. You have to be carefull about catching the USB chord on stuff but the additional freedom and longer battery life more than offset this inconvenience.

Wow frys was quick. It took less than 36 hours from the time I ordered to the time it was delivered. I think fed ex and ups could learn something from DHL as well. Oh and I never got a shipping notice lol just showed up at my door.

WOW ! you are so right, placed my order 1-5-09 at 6:42pm and it just arrived a few minutes ago ! That's amazing !

My only regret is that they would only let me have ONE ! ! !

Must depend on your proximity to one of their stores... I ordered one Sunday around midnight and it's still not here. I hate waiting for shipping, the anticipation kills me. It literally kills me. I'm dead right now. What you're experiencing are the final involuntary convulsions of my fingers against the keys before rigamortis sets in.

Don't mind me I'm just tired :)

Just got my usb passthrough from Steve yesterday (Thanks Steve!) and my APC today. (It's charging) Can't wait to try it! Being caught out with a dead battery has been my biggest fear. This should solve it.

Thanks for all of you for the info!

i don't want to spoil your excitement, but have in mind that these passthrough devices also have a switch and a chip.
it's actually a battery without the battery, but with everything else plus the cable.

3 of 4 batteries died on me the last month, it was either the chip or the switch that went bad. in another thread i opened,it seems that it is common for these parts to fail before the actual battery loose it's charge ability.
that said, i suggest you get a spare passthrough device just in case.

i don't think i saw this mentioned...the apc pack comes with a 5v 1.0a usb wall adapter for charging. i assume the passthrough would work plugged into it. anyone try that?

The wall adapter has a 1.0a USB female connection on it. The supplied cable has 1.0a male on one end and a mini usb male on the other end for charging the unit. With the charging cable hooked up to the APC there is a 1.0a female port on the unit itself to plug the e-cig bypass battery into. Very slick that you can use this usb charger as a passthrough. It also has 4 white LED's that tell you the state of charge. I'm still waiting to try it out as it is only half charged right now. Will update on performance in about 1.5 hours.

Here's the link to view the instruction manual:

Thanks you guys. I save this for later use. Now maybe I should say something nice? about NJOY? I got an email from Customer Service. Sending the batteries out today. Must have been some invisible scouts around with my downing the product.

Now I'm stuck with the gizmo cause my 30 days is up the 11th. I needed the batteries now and really can't afford them. Just spent 1K on a pooch.

What did you do??? For a dog??? Ya, well as soon as he's old enough, I get $500. to $1,000. for stud service. I'll get it back. I didn't get him for that but it will cover his costs each year. Take a peak on my site if you want to see him. He also has a gene that can give you a rare white Yorkie that runs 5K and up.

That's when I'll probably die from e-cigs.8-o
