On the face of it, it seems e-cigarettes are outstandingly effective at providing Nicotine, but it's not that simple, as the article says.
The headline makes little sense to me I must say. Taken without reading it might give the impression we all need to be very careful about the amount we vape and the strength of liquid. Truth is, cigarettes are very ineffective vs. e-cigarettes are very effective but end of the day 1ml of 12mg is not 12mg nicotine to the user, which is sadly what many people think.

In relation to the OP question. 4ml of 6mg is almost certainly not even half a pack of cigarettes rated "1.0mg Nicotine".

It's entirely normal. For one thing, you have switched to gear that naturally uses more juice due to its configuration. For another new quitters pretty much always vape more than they smoked, especially right at first.

"And then ..."

You begin to settle into realizing what users of some drugs may dub the even flow, which vaping will supply regarding the nicotine. You will gradually find yourself not vaping as much because you are getting a sustained dosage of nicotine, one that is likely a lot more pure than tobacco cigarettes. Or, you may continue vaping like a hound after a ..... ;) Either way you go, try relaxing and enjoying it, rather than getting too stressed out or worried.

What is right for you, is right for you. No one can define that but you. Nor can you define that for anyone else. Anyone suggesting differently is full of something foul smelling and it may be wise to run from them in the opposing direction. It may also be wise to take a stand, draw a line the sand and call them on it too.

This all depends on the situation and again, what is right for you. This is not negative circular logic. This is positive circular logic. It is also a valid and just argument of fact. Understand, you cannot argue against fact. Fact will be fact no matter what argument you exert upon it. If you doubt this try diving by zero. :)

I agree the link title is confusing and reading is fundamental. I had to track down the basis for the article and read those external references as well to confirm the conclusions. Bottom line is this is being EXHAUSTIVELY researched (both pro and con). One must also consider the motivations behind all research as well.

But the general consensus appears to be you actually get 50 percent less nicotene from vaping per unit volume than from a cigarette (e.g. puff for puff). That's based on measured blood nicotene levels of a smoker vs. a vaper. Based on some of the behavior in some of my vaping associates, if you got the same amount of nicotene from vaping as a cigarette, most of them would have puked or passed out from their chain vaping 18mg juice! I believe that was the reason for my first failure at quitting using ecigs as I 'assumed' the nic level was the same and started with a lower level. My success was realized when I tried again @ 24 mg and my cravings subsided, then gradually tapered off reducing the volume of nic in my juice....

When I purchased a MOD I cut my nicotine in half knowing full well I would be using more liquid. I must admit I do vape a bit more but that is the reason I cut down the nicotine %. Is it due to the lower nicotine, the new gear which is more enjoyable or the other factors in my life right now affecting how much I am vaping? You know what I do not care really since I used a Pulse Oximeter the other day after physical exertion and was at 98! I forgot to mention I was vaping the entire time I was exerting myself!

There's a lot of psychology involved in 'addiction' along with the physical stuff...it's how we all got hooked on cigarettes. I didn't start smoking because I NEEDED nicotine, I started because I thought it made me look cool. After that I needed nicotine and still needed to look cool too! Ah well...the foibles of youth!

Vaping is, IMHO, a healthier alternative. I, like you, enjoy vaping and so I too cut my nic...but I think I enjoy the fact that I'm not smoking analogs anymore more than I enjoy vaping...guess I'm weird...

After quitting smoking over a year and a half ago the changes I felt in my breathing alone was something to be pleased with. To now enjoy vaping more than smoking is a wonderful thing. I also believe that Vaping is a healthy alternative and with information gained from this forum and research on my own I work hard to make sure I make it as healthy as I can by avoiding things like Diacetyl.

Sounds like you are in the right track... Do you drip at all? In the beginning I said I would not drip ( cus I did not understand it) but now I drip at home and use a tank throughout the day at work.... Keep it up an congrats again, making the switch can be tough but stick with it and enjoy the Journey
Thank you for the help!! What's dripping? Using the temp mode? I have one nickel coil that I will try soon. Or dripping different?

Have you tried turning it DOWN? I CAN vape at HIGHER watts but I tend to use lower watts (10 or so) on a regular basis and get decent clouds and good flavor that way...also use a 1 Ohm coil (+/- .2). I probably smoked way more than you (2+ pks/day) before I quit and I only go through about 4 ml per day @ around 6 mg (I do use a higher nic at night about 12mg). Right now I'm vaping at 8 watts on a Kbox Mini, 1.2 ohms and it's doing pretty good! Vaping my own RY4 recipe with a touch of Black Mild and Cherry...
Does the Knox mini fit on cuboid?

OK. BTW dripping is a type of atty that you 'drip' a few drops of juice on the wick and vape. Great flavor and Rebuildable (RDA=Rebuildable Drip Atomizer) although you can buy ready made coils you can make fit with some minor adjustments. Do some research here and on-line...gotta go now...my MFS package just arrived with my brand spanking new Mutation X V4 RDA I gotta make a coil for a give it a whirl...read great reviews on it. Have fun!

How do you make sure there is no diacetyl in the juices? Will it be in the ingredients? I'm using twelve monkeys juice soda shop and dose e juice

Oh lord! A whole other dimension. I'll stick to vaping for now and become more knowledgeable in that field. One thing at a time haha. Enjoy my friend!

I wish I could answer this question with 100% surety but I have found this to be a tedious endeavor but one I spend lots of time on for the e-Liquids I use. Checking the website for the juice is one way and Googling your heart out is another. It is not usually listed on the bottles but it is in the flavorings as far as I know. Hopefully others more experienced members will post more information to help you out.

Now this is just my opinion but it is supported by some researchers. I personally don't worry too much about Diacetyl, as the Diacetyl content of some ejuice tested is 750 times LOWER than in cigarettes...consider also that the vast majority of tobacco is flavored with practically the same stuff we use in our juices to keep their tobacco products flavors uniform. Now consider how long you smoked and DIDN'T get 'popcorn lung'... it's important to consider the motivation behind any research project (especially if it's got a government grant attached to it). "Further, because smoking has not been shown to be a risk factor for bronchiolitis obliterans, findings are inconsistent with claims that diacetyl and/or 2,3-pentanedione exposure are risk factors for this disease." That's a quote from a paper posted at NIH Diacetyl and 2,3-pentanedione exposures associated with cigarette smoking: implications for risk assessment of food and flavoring workers. - PubMed - NCBI.
