I don't even remember where I was when I found this...but I read this paragraph and thought...does this mean nicotine gum and the other nrts out there need to be banned? What do you think?

PUBLIC LAW 111–31—JUNE 22, 2009
(37) Unless tobacco products that purport to reduce the
risks to the public of tobacco use actually reduce such risks,
those products can cause substantial harm to the public health
to the extent that the individuals, who would otherwise not
consume tobacco products or would consume such products
less, use tobacco products purporting to reduce risk. Those
who use products sold or distributed as modified risk products
that do not in fact reduce risk, rather than quitting or reducing
their use of tobacco products, have a substantially increased
likelihood of suffering disability and premature death. The
costs to society of the widespread use of products sold or distributed
as modified risk products that do not in fact reduce risk
or that increase risk include thousands of unnecessary deaths
and injuries and huge costs to our health care system.

And I don't know about any of the rest of you but in the 54 odd days I've been using my ecigarette I haven't used ANY tobacco at all......so what works here? This is my opinion...but I'd love to hear others. I think the FDA is really confused.

Over the last 10 years I have used EVERYTHING to stop smoking, I have used patches, gums, pills, mints, hypnosis, laser treatments, and acupuncture. These things have cost me THOUSANDS of dollars, but my $40 KR808D1 had me quit the same day I bought it.

The FDA is FULL OF CRAP, they allow the sale of ALL KINDS of "homeopathic. and herbal remedies" that DO NOT work, but a device THAT IS PROVEN to work by thousands "is not approved because we don't make money on it" and "there are no lobbiests" is not approved.

This country is run by money hungry scumbags, and eventually people will wake up, and do something about it.

What bill is this from? New York? Like most laws lately it is entirely to open ended with its wording in an attempt to catch ANYTHING under its veil that might even remotely have something to do with nicotine. Usually laws like this are left to the interpretation of the judge at the time to enforce, or to not enforce.

You know a GREAT campaign to run along side one of these anti-NRT campaigs would be an "Anti DiHydrogenMonoxide" campaign asking New York to pass a bill against DiHydrogenMonoxide consumption until such time as the harmful effects of DiHydrogenMonoxide have been made public and throughly investigated by the FDA and other regulatory agencies.

YES I agree... dihydrogen monoxide has GOT to be one of the more dangerous chemical compounds out there to date GOT to ban it now.

I just got home from an appt that I had this am...I drove through very very thick fog to get to it this am....We have to ban the fog too...I couldn't see 20 ft in front of me!! VERY dangerous that fog is.

I've been reading about the various vaccines being made using tobacco leaves. Some of them are:
Cancer Vaccine
Swine-Flu Vaccine
Norovirus (Cruse Ship Virus)
Lymphoma Vaccine
Nicvax (Stop-smoking vaccine)

Does that mean if the FDA bans all products related to tobacco that those vaccines will then be illegal?

Why would the FDA ban vaccines? They're making money out of them, especially ones in high demand, such as swine flu...

I've always been politically apathetic (I'm not registered to vote, I don't like the feeling of choosing the person I dislike the least out of 2) but this whole FDA overstep of power has me mad...

I've never suffered from being hopelessly addicted to nicotine, but both of my parents are. I've seen what e cigs have done for people here on these forums, and I'm only hoping and praying that c cigs are around long enough, and cost efficient long enough, to be something that I can introduce my parents to. Screw the government for trying to ruin something that is working AMAZINGLY just because they can't make some money off of it. Our country is supposedly based off of "life, liberty, and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS." E cigs are making people happy, they are changing lives, they are saving lives, and the gov has enough nerve to say "no, they're bad. These should be banned because we just say so." That's just stupid...

Sorry for the rant, I needed to get that off my chest though. I need to go find some petitions to sign, especially if they involve PA or MD lol.
