ecig vendors have a hard time finding a cc processor. lots of CC processors won't take on an ecig vendor. from what i have read here, it is most likely the processor. I think they should take checks like in the old days. it wouldn't kill us to write a check

I don't own checks and money orders are slow. Cc or debit is all I have.

Knock on wood I know as far as possible that my iPhone or iPad can't have key loggers on them. Also a tip I heard was get a prepaid card to do online shopping with. I'm going to look into that but the added cost of reloading them might make that a non idea very quick.

One note for you on the iPhone or iPad for ordering. You will be going through a wireless network using them. A determined person can intercept what you sent to the network before it gets there. Be very careful with wireless network order placing.

A couple of years ago a neighbor of mine came by with her new cell phone.
She pointed to her screen where I could see she detected my wireless access point.
She asked if it was mine and if I could unlock it for her.

You can all thank one particular U.S. based anti-tobacco group for this. Their creator, and until recently president, threatened PayPal and got e-cigarettes put on the company's ban list. In addition, processors have been dropping like flies over the years, I know at least one e-cig business that's had to change processors three different times because they quit allowing e-cigarette transactions.

Check with your bank. Some banks offer a secured card specifically intended for online transactions. Other banks will set up a secondary account for you that you can keep a minimum amount in, and then you can transfer only the amount you need from your main account when you want to make a purchase.

Well as the OP hasn't mentioned who he thinks the vendor was; this makes the whole thread pointless.
Others can't avoid or be on the look out for similar activities as it would be like finding a needle in a hay stack..
It's not a specific vendor, it's the card processing service. As stated above the vendors have a very limit choice on which service they can use and apparently at least one of them has been compromised. If we knew which service each vendor uses it might help narrow it down but it would still be tough.

My card was hit within days of my most recent purchase at Discount Vapers, my last purchase prior to that had been several weeks in the past, and the charges hit card a few days before my next purchase at MadVapes.

I am not blaming anyone at DV, I am listing the vendor name because I would want to know, and information is a good thing in a free society.

Three charges back-to-back-to-back, $20.00 each at someplace I had never heard of, and then four charges in row, each at a progressively higher price, at another place I had never heard of, but appeared to be some sort of dating/personals site in Great Briton, plus a couple random charges.

Total around $280 in charges. Which surprised me at being that low. Already have a new card from the bank, and it doesn't appear I'll have any financial loss, pending regular formalities.

Ordered a total of 240 ml of liquid from three different vendors last Thursday, but got a disposable CC before making the orders. In light of the current circumstances affecting the vaping world, with CC fraud seemingly widespread, I don't trust the integrity of any transactions with any vendor.

The naming is being done via PMs.

What about an email money transfer from the bank? Here in Canada that is how vendors get paid. Yeah it sucks paying additionally $1.50 for the privledge, but is much safer in my mind.

To avoid that, and the shipping charges, I'm ordering online at canvapes.com -- then visit their B&M (Flea Mkt Kiosk) on the weekends, pay in cash and pick-it-up personally. I'm lucky that I've a B&M in the vicinity. However, as with all vendors, everything isn't with them, that's the irony(!) and thus we tend to look/buy at others as well.
