OMG SILVER!!! Wow, you were RIGHT!!! Gee, you need to put a sticky thread up with this advice. It's much much better.

After I took off the cartridge and mouth piece and inhaled right from the atomizer, I got lots of vapor. I still have to draw harder and a bit differently, but it's working. So, after about 20 hits or so, I stopped getting vapor and had dried out the atomizer. Then I put the cartridge back on and it's just working much better than it was before.

I still have to draw differently-- I guess more like a pipe. I'm actually not sure that I like that since I thought this would be an e-cig that just looked like a pipe. But, really, I have to hold it the way I've seen people smoke pipes and even use my teeth on the side to kind of grasp it. I didn't expect that and I'm not sure I want to get used to that since I'm a girl and it's a pipe (but I thought this was interesting: women and pipes).

My husband told me he really doesn't find it too sexy. lol.

One more thing-- the short draws on here don't work at all-- even if I loosen the connection from the atomizer to the battery. That makes it worse. I have to have a pretty tight connection there. But, if I do really light draws, nothing at all. I still have to smoke it like a real pipe which is kind of a deeper longer draw. It's not at all like my smaller e-cigs although I definitely do not need to draw right into my lungs anymore like I had to yesterday.

Thanks so much for helping, everyone.

Hi Kendra,

So glad to hear that my suggestion is working out for you, thought it might (have had a fair bit of experience with this device, from various suppliers ;)).

I've never actually tried a smaller E-vaping device than the penstyle and to me the vape is not much different than that. I do take long, slow tokes on it and suck it first into my mouth and then deep into my lungs, I actually like that sensation very much :D (would never have done that with an analog  !). I've never sucked the vapour directly into my lungs though and don't think I would like that either.

Interesting link by the way, thanx for that. I believe I've seen the bit about the first female pipe smoker (Rachel Jackson, wasn't it ?) quoted on this forum quite recently in one of the other Mini Pipe threads.

Anywho, glad I could help. Enjoy your pipe and give it some time, you may find you like it more than you imagined you would :) !

Cheers,
Silver

i have had the minipipe for over a week now...my only gripes:

the battery does not last long at all...i get less than 3 hours each on both batteries.

the battery cap secures loose on the minipipe...solved that with some small foam that is self adhesive on one side..cut it to fit...now its snug.

the minipipe 4 hole atomizer is hard to draw...using my besecig be112 atomizers...works great

WHy is this? I think this is an issue, because my janty 2 hole atomizer works great. Where can I find 2 hole ones that aren't janty brand so they're much cheaper? How can I be sure that's what I'm getting?

I'm kind of upset because I just placed a HUGE bulk order from central trade (seriously-- I'll have years worth of stuff) and I ordered 801 atomizers. I hope they're two hole and not four.

i wish i know why. if i draw on the 4 hole minipipe atomizer removed from the minipipe the draw is easy just like my 2 hole atomizer from bestecig. im looking inside the threads from the 4 hole and 2 hole atomizer and the hole placements are different

also if i screw in the minipipe atomizer into an 801 battery its almost impossible to draw...again the way the atomizer holes are placed

Hi guys, The issue with the factory atomizer is usually that the att. band seal off the air flow by mating to the pipe body. This can be fixed by putting a couple small notches in the band with a dremel tool or just a file edge. The other issue is the factory atomizers are just not too good to start with. Like Asidrave said, the Stainless Steel ones from bestecig work good with no modification.
Charge and change your batteries often and the performance may get better. Mine did. I have had one battery last 7-8 hours with light use.
The factory atomizer will not work on other batteries because of it's air hole location being set around the center hole. The center hole is to activate the vacuum switch only and does not bring in outside air. Other atts. vent at their edges, If you look closely you will see them.

EDIT- Oh, the pipe always flashes 3 times when you put the battery in. Do not put it in upside down by mistake, this will kill your pipe.

@Asidrave: Just out of curiosity, did you precharge your batteries for 12 hours as stated in the manual ?

Don't know if anyone has noticed this before, but if you look at the screw thread on the Mini Pipe bowl, you will see that there are three airholes drilled into the side. I believe that both the placement of the 4 airholes around the atomizer hole, and the lack of these three holes on the screw thread of other 801 batteries, is the reason for the heavy draw when combining the Mini Pipe atomizer with an 801 battery.

Although using other 801 atomizers on the Mini Pipe bowl is possible (thankfully, as it makes for a good backup option), I still think that none of them give the same great flavour as the atomizer that comes with the Mini Pipe (faults and all). I find this very interesting and would really like to know why this is.

Is there anyone with some technical knowledge lurking around here who is willing to make an educated guess as to why this Mini Pipe atomizer gives so much better flavour than other 801 atomizers ?

Cheers,
Silver

Probably for the same reason that my Dura atomizers taste better then all others I have. Different resistance in the coil allows for different temps of the vapor resulting in different taste. You are right, the factory atts. do taste better then the others, they just don't seem to last long.
When it comes to taste of the vapor, temperature makes all the difference.
