I'm curious about what some of the responses vapers give when asked in a public setting. In other words, how do you explain it? I haven't vaped in public yet because I don't want people to think I'm smoking.
I think we should all start using the term "personal vaporizer" or anything other than a description with the word "cigarette" in it as much as possible. The farther we get away from that association, the better.
I tried calling it a personal vaporizer once and that just made the person think I was doing drugs. Vaporizers are commonly used to inhale marajuana vapor. I think there should be a PV that looks like an asthma inhaler. If you go around puffing on one of those no one would say anything!
That is the number one reason I bought a Darwin. I also use a tank and that helps even more. I bet I’ve had 10 people ask if my doctor prescribed that machine and I tell them it’s a PV and is doctor approved.
I'm not concerned about the device itself. I have an eGo, and it's obviously not a cigarette. I was thinking more about the puff of vapor that will invariably lead others to think that I'm smoking. How do some of you explain it when questioned in a restaurant, or airport, or bar?
I was wandering myself.... I don't vape too often in pubic but if I'm inside for 2 hours or so. I will take 2 or 3 causal hits and hold in in till I'm sure the cloud wont be there.why not just stealth by holding in longer during those questionable situations? I know I am one of those "I can do it anywhere" types but I try to be smart about it an hold it in till I know the vapor will not be visible an that helps avoids some of the questions.
I only Vape in private indoors otherwise i vape where smoking is allowed and try to educate the smokers on what I am doing. The non-smokers don't seem to care and if 1 person in an establishment is offended and complians you will be asked to refrian or leave. I feel openly vaping in non-smoking areas will only hurt the vaping community as a whole in the long run... You can already see it happening.
Some counties/cities are adding e-cigs to there no smoking bylaws and airline carriers are also posting no e-cigs allowed.![]()
If you think vaping should only occur in smoking areas, then your actions are saying to everyone: vaping is dangerous and is the same as burning tobacco - stay far away from me, what I do is harmful. The "anti" zealots love for us to prove that they are right.
+1 WV. This statement should be a sticky.
Read a post last night about a new PV that is coming to market that doesn't produce vapor. Can't wait to see what the zealots do with that news.
