Hey, Tim!

Greetings (also) from Kettering, Ohio! Nice to know there are others in the area. Welcome!

I, too, bought my first e-cig from a mall kioski, and considering the location, it very well might have been the SAME kiosk. Have to tell you, my friend, it was a miserable experience. I bought my kit about a year-and-a-half ago, and never was very satisfied. Oh, once in a while (very great while), I'd get a pretty decent throat hit and sightly amount of vapor, but most of the time -- not. The batteries were horrible, the cartridges were sometimes not even filled, and I found myself craving an analog all time time. Even the website eventually disappeared, and when I went to the kiosk to get new cartridges, they no longer carried them for my model. Ugh!

Needless to say, after about six months I eventually went back to my 1 1/2 packs-a-day and threw my kit in a drawer somewhere, never to be seen again. I should also add that I never fully quit my analogs during that time, primarily because my substandard product didn't give me enough satisfaction to stay away from lighting up.

Finally, I stumbled onto ECF and learned of the eGo (among the hundreds of other products out there), which I received on Monday the 4th. I've been vaping 100% ever since, with no desire to go astray. Keep in mind, I'm now on the 4th day without an analog, and anyone who has quit smoking can tell you that the 4th through the 6th days without a smoke are typically the ones where you want to jab co-workers in the eyeballs with hypodermic needles. Not feeling that way in the slightest!!! For the first real time in my adult life, I can actually envision a longer, more healthy life... all because of my eGo.

So, best of luck to you and your wife! And be thankful you found ECF... I sure am! Take care... Bruce

@ Bruce: congratulations!!!!! I think that's why we sound so cult-ish around here. I sometimes wonder what people must think when they stumble onto this site and read all the comments, "BUY IT! You'll like it! Join us....Get out your credit card.... I don't know, borrow the money from your boss - just do it, buy, buy, buy!!".

No wonder they think it's some huge marketing scheme. But all I can say to that is, "BUY it! You'll like it!".

If you know, do all the buttons on the Rivas have LED's that glow when you press them? The reason I'm asking is that the COV Riva 510 -Silver says that it does, but there is no mention of a glowing LED button at the Liberty Flights website.

Thx!

Tim

I can't say definitively because I don't own one, but I'm about 99.9% sure that it does because... a) the other site says it does and... b) liberty flights website also doesn't say the 510 has a LED light and we all know it does.

Oh man, petem!!! I think you hit the nail on the head there!! I didn't think of that. The same night (Monday) that I first read your post I went back over to the mall and bought the highest mg they had, which was 16mg. They are definitely giving me more satisfaction, but still not enough.

I've discovered (from posts here and from my own experience) that your body takes in less nicotine when vaping compared to smoking. When I smoke a cigarette now (very rare), I can feel the "buzz" in my brain instantly, but I don't feel that when vaping. I started with 16 mg in my starter kit (I think), but have gone up to 24 mg when I order liquids now.

The ultimate starter kit is the Joye 510 kit for $35 from Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.. You get 2 510s with 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 prefilled carts, and a charger.

After a while you will want to upgrade to the Ego, around $70. At Cignot, you get 2 of everything again with the Ego kit, but the batteries last 6-8 hours each. You could also just purchase the Ego batteries for about $40 a pair, plus two cones @ $3, and a charger for about $12, since the rest of the Ego kit is 510 stuff, but you will need some more atomizers by that time, anyway and the chargers are not compatible.

We all stay away from the Mall Kiosks. Too pricey!

Check out the library, especially the 6 part series "The Wonderful World of Vaping."
The ECF Library

A Joye eGo 1000mah battery (battery life is 12 hours or more) is $24 and the Joye eGo Fast USB charger is $8 at cignot.com. Cignot has free shipping if your order is over $59. If you decide to only use cartomizers (one piece with atomizer built in and can refill many times) and not have to fiddle around with atomizers, cartridges, dripping, etc, it would be cheaper to just buy them separately. From my experience with reading this forum, the eGo is the most popular. It's a little bigger than a cigarette, but who cares?

And the eGo 1000mah is compatible with 510 parts. This battery (either with a manual button or automatic) has a sleek, thin rubbery feel, and I love the two I received from cignot about a week ago. I alternate using them every other day, while the other is charging. Recharging the battery takes about 3 hours.

Rosa, I agree with you on all counts! When I first came to the forum, there were so many posts about 510s and eGos that I thought maybe this was a sponsored site. And now, I must sound like one of the sponsors, too... "BUY IT!!!!!"

I am waiting for someone to suggest they take the hideously overpriced rigs *back* to the kiosk, and get your money and get a decent set up that satisfies both of you, plus a TON of juice for what you spent on the mall rigs. I have been vaping for almost 90 days now, and I haven't spent anywhere near that amount, and I am supplying my son his rig and my co workers their juice.
Velvetvapors.com has a rather spectacular range of premixed flavors. If you want to learn how to mix on your own (it's like chemisty and cooking with tiny measurements) perfumersapprentice.com, and onestopdiyshop.com both have flavors and unflavored vg and pg. One Stop has a "kit" that you get flavors, nic juice, and cool mixing tools.
Vaporjunction.com has the new kr808's as well as 510's and Riva's.

You will learn as you go along, to be sure. And, you can get some really awesome deals. The forum suppliers here have coupons and sales all the time, and the customers of those vendors have no problem with telling you their experiences.

Good luck, welcome to vaping, and enjoy your healthier alternative to living! Wait till you realize you can A. BREATHE! and B. you haven't picked up a ciggie in weeks, and you have no desire to either! :D

If I were you I'd take my Wifey and go to the meet. I say this, never having been to a meet in my state. I ask um to come to a meet for me. . .Monday or Tuesday, 'bout noon would be great. They all said, "Fat chance you'll ever meet anybody." Thinking of changing name to "Lone Wolf".

Welcome to VaporCast

Cheers,

Thx, otrpu. From one old fart to another, what do you expect living in the mountains? LOL May be you could all meet at Ted Kaczynski's old place.

j/k :p

Yeah, good idea that, otrpu. I talked to the little woman and I'm pretty sure we are going to make it to that Vape Meet in north Dayton. It's only about 30 minutes away, and the food looks pretty good for a casual Saturday night. I hope I can still throw a dart half way decently. I also hope some of the people attending will bring most of the PV's they have with them so we can view the real things instead of the pics... although by that time I sure hope I have my hand planted firmly around an eGo, a 510 Riva or something.

Thx again!

Tim, welcome and great to e-meet you. If you are looking for something reasonably priced for you and your wife and want decent battery life, throat hit and vapor look at primevapor.com. They have a couples starter kit that is a KR808D-1 that comes 4 batteries (2 auto and two manual), a charger, pcc (personal charging case), a usb passthrough and two carrying cases for 69.00 and shipping is free. You also get 2 4 packs of cartomizers in either mentol or marlboro style flavors. They ship very quicky and you can be well set up in a couple of days. That got me completly off analogs from day one. My husband took a bit longer but he is ther now. In addition I ordered one Joye Ego kit that came with two complete egos and my husband and I split that so we each have one. Good luck!

Nice e-meeting you too, Fiery.

Just FYI, that Couples kit from PrimeVapor (I'm assuming that's it. It doesn't say KR808D-1's.) is now $99.95.

Those eGo's look look pretty sweet. I'm strongly considering them.

Thx for the link and info, Fiery! :thumb:

That chart is the same weight as a duck and is therefore made of wood.
I think you know what I'm getting at here.
:)

I sure do.

Basically, that chart is absurd, and turned me into a newt.
(But I got better)

Nice to see someone is familiar with the Python here. I was startin' to think I was alone.

[snip] ... And to help in your decision making; keep in mind that you can get adapters that allow you to use just about any battery with just about any atty/cart/carto that you like. So if you want the eGo battery but you like the KR808D-1 cartomizers.... there's an adapter for that.

Thx!

This really is a substantial learning process. I think I'm getting nearer to the top of the curve thanks to help from people like you, Rosa.

Woot! Kettering FTW!

This is becoming a worse, and worse experience for me, too, Bruce.

I'm starting to think that either some of these cartos aren't filled, or they are defective. There certainly isn't any consistency. Every now and then I get a good one, but I'm sure not going to buy anything else from the kiosk.

They stopped carrying carts for your model? Damn. Probably a blessing though.

Like your old experience, I haven't quit my analogs yet, either. I'm glad I found this forum quickly and didn't spend 6 months, like you did, on the mall E-rip-offs.

WOW! That is sssssoooooooo encouraging. Keep it up, mate! and GL!

"go astray." LOL Just noticed, you didn't "go ashtray," either. I have to remember that. Decent pun there.

Bruce, I'm on Rahn near Bigger. Where abouts are you?

Are you planning to go to the Vape Meet in north Dayton?

Thx again for your message!!

Python! Woot! I had a ball python I named Monty (not very original, I know, but still couldn't resist, HUGE fan).

I started with a BLU and quickly moved onto a 510, then I was looking at eGo/Riva type kits, but didn't wanna shell out the bucks, so I went through the modders forum and started building my own, I love it...

Thanks for the post, tresrottn!

I bookmarked all those links you gave me. I do have an interest in the "chemistry" of juice making. (I'm sort of a gadget-nut kind a' guy. Maybe that is some of why I'm interested.) I'm sure I'll get into DIY and mixing before too much time has passed.

[snip] ... Vaporjunction.com has the new kr808's as well as 510's and Riva's. [snip]

What did you mean by "new kr808's?" I didn't see any KR808D-1 starter kits at all at Vapor Junction, but I did see an RS808D-1 starter kit on their site at this web page. tresrottn, or anyone, do you know... is the "new" 808 you referred to been renamed and is the RS808D-1 -- replacing the KR808D-1? And is it considered new because it uses what I guess is a recently released E2 carto, which I think are the new ceramic ones mentioned in The Truth's E2 cartomizer video review -- Vapor Junction seems to be calling them CE2's according to this page at their site.

Anyway, thx for your help!

It's not a typo, Fiery. I ordered one of the new RS808D-1 starter kits, with the new CE2 cartos, today,

RS808D-1.png

(this is the RS808D-1 starter kit from Vapor Junction)

from Vapor Junction and also ordered the standard KR808D-1 case for it. Travis, the owner at Vapor Junction, called me to tell me that the RS808D-1 (he used that identification terminology), didn't fit in the old, KR808D-1 case. He said the battery was just a bit longer and, if I recall correctly, that they also moved the on/off button placement. I'm not sure if it will also have trouble fitting into the standard KR808D-1 PCC or not.

Note: Vapor Junction was also very nice in offering me an upgrade to one of their more expensive Riva soft cases at no additional charge -- so at least now I've found one good supplier.

hmmmmmm....

Seems the RS808D-1 is different from the KR808D-1 in a couple ways. See this:

RS-808D RoyalSmokers electronic cigarette factory in Shenzhen

Now I also remember Travis telling me the LED wasn't on the end of the PV.

Gee, at the Dayton Vape Meet on Oct. 23, I might be able to bring something none of those Vape Vets have ever seen before. Yeah!!!

:toast:

I'm very interest to hear how the RS808D-1 works, esp since it is not a Kanger and has the ceramic carto's. I see the great DonDaBoomVape bought one too:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/requests-opinions-reviews/128732-v4l-kr808ds-2.html#post2023265

and I'd like to see how he likes it (would have replied directly to his post, but being a noob I can only post here right now). I'm also wondering about compatibility with all the other KR8 hardware out there.

Karl,

See this post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/requests-opinions-reviews/128732-v4l-kr808ds.html#post2046364

FWIW, my wife are both n00bs and are both using the two RS808D-1 manual batteries that came in the starter kit from Vapor Junction, and two KR-808D-1 automatic standard batteries. The RS's are a bit longer. There may be an mAH difference, but I'm not sure as I cannot find the mAH of the RS's. I've asked my wife, and we both, ever so slightly, prefer the batteries in the RS starter kit. Neither of us can totally say why that is, though.

For $35 less their 10% discount for ECF members (ECF10), I don't think you'll go wrong to try them out.

Tim

And now for something completely different and interesting from Royal Smoker:
