Awesome comments everyone. Thanks for making me feel not so frustrated and I WILL order some cards.

As far as the man with lung cancer, I know it might be too late for him, but he caused a whole group of people to come over to see what was going on. I told them all that there is actually a vape store about 3 miles from them and they should go check it out. They let you try liquids and explain the hardware. I still got an "eh" reaction. I refuse to be one of those ex-smoking hypocrites that jump all over someone for smoking. I hated when it was done to me and you can tell when someone is just so-so interested.

Someone here commented on the cigalikes and I have to be honest, those things are terrible. I did get the comments of people trying them (I tried them also). I had to say those are nothing like a battery type. If some think that's all there is to it, nobody will stick with it let alone try something more.

As a side note of public vaping, was vaping at the movies tonight and it was GREAT. I just sat way in the back in the corner and nobody knew anything..IT WAS GREAT LOL 2 hour Captain Phillips was very enjoyable :)

I personally love this...

If only people knew exactly how much PG and VG they ingest every single day... It would be a lot easier to count the things we eat that DON'T have one of those in the ingredients....

You can't fix stupid...

I don't know that it's stupid as much as ignorant and just listening to what they hear on media venues or word-of-mouth and take it for truth without researching at all. I think people would be surprised how prominent VG and PG are, if they knew.

Guess my new project is learning to rebuild w/cotton..and this should be a nightmare because I'm not mechanical at all.

Not to drift off the subject, but I'm gonna for just a minute

I also wanted to add for AngieBe. I followed this and you don't have to recoil. It's super easy.

You can get the cheesecloth here.
100% Natural Cotton Cheese Cloth - BedBathandBeyond.com

Then I used this to get the wick through the coil
Collapsible Eye Needles 2.5" 4/Pk-Heavy at Joann.com

That is of course you are using those kind of heads. Hope that helps a little.

See that's what I mean. I would love to add to one of those printable cards some examples of what PG and VG are in that people eat everyday. That would be a great way to shut someone up!!

I still got an "eh" reaction.

You know, I've noticed that people have to come to stuff like vaping pretty much by themselves. They need to have a WANT to try something else. Either because they're frustrated or whatever..but it's just the old adage of not being able to force a horse to drink.

I tried to get my Mom vaping. She's smoked for like... 50 years and has COPD and is on oxygen. She just is like "meh, whatever." Sent her a kit, a charger, a half gallon baggie full of juice.. the whole nine yards. She just didn't like it, I guess. I don't see her much. She doesn't want to come to terms with the fact that she's killing herself, and I can't make her, no matter what I do. All of the people that I've tried introducing to vaping have sorta been like that. Give them a kit, they go back to cigarettes. So I'm pretty sure I'm done trying to help people like that. If they're REALLY that curious, they'll seek out a vendor. THEN if they need the help purchasing the kit, maybe I'll step in or something, but dang, is all of that sorta depressing.

Sorry for the thread hijack, sorta?

Nah no highjacking. That's pretty much right on topic. I am having the exact problem with my mom. I keep telling her how great it is and how I'm down to about 4 cigs a day. Yes, I'm still smoking, but have come a long way from nearly 2 packs a day. I've been vaping and learning for about a month now and this the way it's working for me. I'm not scaring myself by going cold turkey...kind of. I'm finding myself liking the taste less and less everyday. It's going to happen, just in my slow time :) (now that was highjacking my own thread lol )
But like you, I wish my mom would consider it more.

it's true, there are a lot of misinformed people out there, and i despise those people out there spreading rumors about how bad ecigs are.. i've never encounter anyone directly telling me it, but someone told my mom that ecigs are just as bad as analogs.. no idea who told her but again, it's sad that this is what ecigs are being interpreted as..

Just so folks are clear, when the ANTZ refer to "antifreeze" in e-cigarettes, they aren't talking about PG/VG. They are referring to the tiny amount of DEG (Diethylene Glycol) the FDA found in one cartridge it tested back in 2009. The FDA then issued a purposely vague press statement stating it found an ingredient "found in antifreeze." The company that sold it (which no longer exists) also happened to be in the middle of a lawsuit against the FDA. The ignorant media sometimes reported the PG as the "antifreeze" ingredient or vapers were unaware of the FDA test finding DEG, so assumed people were referring to PG and that caused/added to the confusion.

Thx for this info Steamix and I didn't know this. Does the same apply to what exactly is polyfill and what type of polyfill are in cartos? I guess I can quit being lazy at this moment and search myself...

I'm still going to vape and encourage others (Hello Dad!!! Wish he was on here and would make the switch so bad) to do so. Smoking analogs, as we all know, is asking for a horrible death sentence. Quitting gives us all a chance for repair and a healthy life. I just go through these WTH moments and get nervous.

I'm hoping and praying :nun: my lungs are not too far damaged from smoking to repair. Silica inhalation, there is no repair possible so that's why I got nervous when I saw that thread. Nothing more research or cotton can't fix. I'm sticking to vaping.

There is always some flaking - but like in other areas , size does matter ;)

If the flakes are above a certain limit, they won't embed themselves in the alveoli of the lungs ( like these asbestos spikes ) but will be caught by the cilia in the bronchies and expelled. Considering that most of us did heap all sorts of garbage into our lungs with analogs, I'm fairly relaxed about that fiber issue. Ekowool does point out an their website that their stuff is safe, but there isn't a MSDS to be had either.

Basically there should be a MSDS for polyfill available too...

But if it does worry you - replace it all with cotton or SS mesh.

I for myself am bouncing some ideas around in me head about doing away with wicks altogether ...
