Thanks Andy I didn't know about Ronsons either.

I took the center pin out of mine and I use cotton wool or a round cotton pad cut. I also like to use a small piece of an unbleached coffee filter with the cotton pad wrapped loosely in center (sort of like they described using foil). I love, love, love it-- It is a lot of fun experimenting wirh it instead of throwing away dead attys every 5 mins or waiting to charge a battery lol. It is well worth the investment if you ask me!!

That is so good to hear Violetvoo, I'm waiting on mine. I should have it toward the end of the week.

OK, got the iolite. It's filled and I used the cotton in the chamber and turned it on, took a draw..CHOKE, CHOKE,COUGH,CHOKE....WOW.

Now I'm taking little tiny draws, that's better. But I do believe I'm going to have to cut my 24mg down to maybe 12, LOL...still, I LIKE it!! And I feel so good knowing that I have an alternative to the e-cig. If the FDA takes it away, I can still vape.

Great news Sharon. That didnt take too long.

24mg in the I-Inhale - my you are brave! :p

No, LOL, not brave, just too lazy to get up and get the 18mg. I don't have anything with less mg's than that, I could cut it with VG or PG I guess, and may have too, I'll experiment.

But you know what, I LOVE it. If (when) I find the strength that works, just think, no more batteries, no more atomizers, etc. What joy. But more important is the FDA can't mess with me now.

When it comes to the batteries though, because I use the Kensington power pack or the passthrough I don't worry about them.

Bless my husband's heart, he's such a sport, he thinks the things I do are neat. It doesn't surprise him at all when he sees me smoking a white stick with a long black wire hanging from it, or puffing on the iolite. He just grins and shakes his head.

Thanks Frog!!

Two fingers up to the FDA :D

Great stuff, you should try some molasses too, the flavours are an adventure of their own. You could also try mixing some eliquid with some real mint plant. Something I plan to try soon.

Andy

I agree Andy. Just added some Choc. Mint from Loranne's and wow, what a difference. Matter of fact I've discovered that with the choc. mint added to this diluted mix I can smoke it in my e-cig just fine and it tastes great!

What a hobby this is becoming!

The company have changed the product name from I-Inhale to Iolite but the units are identical at present. They are doing some beta testing (check the FC forums) on changes, it looks like they will in future come with no lower gauze and the heating pin not removable. I think they want us to start referring to them as the Iolite but I have yet to see a report of one having Iolite written on it. Some of the carry pouches seem to have the nice I-Inhale branding but others are shipping plain unbranded ones.

I removed my lower gauze and I prefer it without it.

Great to hear you are joining us in owning the II/IO RedBull - what are you planning to use in it? Just e-liquid or molasses and homebrew too?

Andy, when you refer to the "lower" gauze I'm a little confused. I removed the gauze (which I call a screen) in the piece that pops off where you put the mouth piece into, but when I look into the case I see a piece of screening that is below the pin, did you take that out too? And if so, why do you like it out? Does it make a difference?

Yep thats the one I mean, below the heating pin. The manufacturers have found that it does nothing but slightly hinder performance of the unit, its just there to get gunked up and adds to your cleaning routine. I haven't used the cotton wool method since removing it so I am not sure how that would work without sit without the screen.

I use mainly molasses in my II/IO now and having no lower screen makes it so easy to keep clean. With e-liquid it shouldnt need much cleaning though.

Do be careful if you remove the pin, if you tighten it too much it strips the threads and this is why they are thinking of fixing the pin in place. I have had no problems with mine but I have seen posts about it.

I'll PM you the link to the FC discussions where the manufacturer posts

Thanks Andy for the link and I've been hearing about the molasses but somehow missed that one. Not sure what ya'll are talking about and until I do, I'm not putting molasses in my Iolite and smoking it. LOL.

DH and I are leaving in a few hours for vacation. If I don't hear from you before that I'll read when we get back, but we're not leaving for another 4 hours or so.

By molasses, we mean a herbal mix dipped in molases, not the treacle stuff :p

Some are sugar cane/beet based and some tobacco based. It looks like this

Have a fantastic vacation, tell us all about it when you get back

Hi Andy, from what I have read there is no end of tasty combinations I can enjoy from this little gizmo, so I'm sure I'm going to be experimenting. I'll try some e-quid, then some of my own liquid (which vapes very nicely in my 901), then maybe a little tobacco/honey mix...the possibilities are endless and much more varied than e-cigs, it seems. Also we have some Turkish shops locally where one can score the molasses mix, so it's all good. I can't wait to get my mitts on it.

Hi All,
Got the Iolite earlier in the week from smokejuice, good quick service. It has Iolite branding on it, and all the instructions and box also Iolite branded - with a link to a website which is not up as yet. The zip-up pouch is unbranded but but seems like it's nice quality.
So here's what I think. It's a very nice unit. It seems well made and durable. It's not too heavy, but sturdy and looks like it will outlive the 2 year warranty. It comes with a brass multi tool, spare screens, gauzes, mouthpieces etc in a classy box. Pin is removable.
The first couple of times I fired it up I was left a little deflated though. I tried the cotton wool/juice method and got a burst of hot flavour, a choking fit and a drop of superheated liquid on my tongue but no visible vapour. In fact nothing I tried produced visible vapour and it seemed to be running a bit wimpy. I decided that it was maybe the cheap gas I had bought from the local shop so I went in search of Ronson and replaced the gas.
I also got some Soex herbal molasses and tried it with that. Much better! Once the Iolite is well warmed up, a pinch of molasses with a copuple of drops of juice is a very satisfying vape. The flavours of the molasses come through really nicely and it does produce vapour - but not as much as the videos suggest. I've also tried it with a mix of tobacco, honey and VG - same story - nice flavour once it warms up but less vapour than I expected.
So I have a question. Do these vaporisers just not produce a lot of vapour or is mine maybe a bit underpowered? Is there a trick to it that I am unaware of? I'm satisfied, but I could be more satisfied if you catch my drift.

UPDATE
I did a bit of reading aound and experimenting and I realise now what the issue is. Although it is hot enough to vaporise after about a minute, it doesn't hit peak performance until about 5-7 minutes, then the vapour is much better. Now I'm enjoying it a lot more, even more perhaps than my ecig. Trouble is I can't just whip this out of my pocket anytime I fancy and take a drag. It'll have to be 901 for a quick 'n dirty puff and Iolite for a relaxing evening vape. RBHB - never satisfied!!
