I'm not sure I can be called an expert :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of the iolite/iinhale Sharon! Kate started a great thread over on RTV here where many of us have shared our experiences and experiments. It would be lovely to see you there. Tim's videos are great too, I'm sure we can get you comfortable with the unit quickly.

Thank you Andy. I've bookmarked it and shall read it in it's entirety. I would never have ordered it if I hadn't felt sure I could come here (and now there at the RTV forum) for help! I'm registered at that forum now, LOL. I do believe this vaping is becoming a hobby.

Just finished dinner, dishes and reading the 10 pages on the I-inhale. I'm a little worried about getting the flavor. From what I read over there, the flavor seems to dissipate quickly, is this true? Also, can I use a dripping method like I do with the e-cigs? I saw a youtube where the person just dripped between 4 or 5 drops and vaped away. Won't this work?

I'm a little confused right now, but I don't give up easily and I'm not necessarily a picky person. I just want to stay away from analogs and feel safe in knowing I can even if there is a ban.

Thanks for any help?

Sharon, I've only had mine a couple of days. But I drip 3 drops of VG and 2-3 drops of my 18mg liquid, and puff a bit - I think I'm getting about the same as a regular analog. You can drip through the hole if you unscrew the mouth tube thingie.... I just pull off the top and add my drops, vape and turn it off.

Wildsky, are you using the VG AND the 18mg liquid to cut down the strength of the hit which I understand can be quite strong? Will PG work as well?

You are a lifesaver and I surely thank you! I was a little worried there and once again I'm really looking forward to getting this.

I read here:
Review of The Big Four

the person saying that we will be inhaling the butane and it causes headaches and stomach problems etc. It's the only place I've read this and wonder about it. What do you, or anyone else, think?

I do believe PG or VG works just as well. I had to cut my juice as it was WAY toooo big of a hit.

I have read about the butane, and the exhaust is on the side of the Ioliote, I would imaging perhaps some people might be very sensitive, but the only time I can smell it is when I turn the thing on and am looking for the ignition light to come on.

I've not used mine a lot but did sniff it to see if I could smell anything and couldn't. It might be that the one reviewed for The Big Four was faulty and not burning the butane properly.

Kate, why haven't you used it a lot? I just watched what looked like the latest video

http://www.smokejuice.co.uk/userimages/procart17.htm

where he put just some plain cotton in the chamber to hold the e-liquid. Have you tried this yet?

I haven't used it much because I have a big stash of spares for my Kissbox and I'm too complacent to be bothered with anything else at the moment. Even though it doesn't get used much I'm really pleased to have it for emergencies and for when I can be bothered to play with it.

Tim from smokejuice said he would send me some trial eliquid for it to see if it's better than the usual commercial stuff. He's having some specially formulated to suit the I-Inhale so fingers crossed it'll taste good.

Thanks Kate, I guess that's why I've ordered mine. I want to feel really secure when it comes to the possibility of a ban. Did you see the latest (that's what it says, the latest video) where he put cotton swirled around the pin and dripped liquid onto the cotton? Is that the latest and does it work do you think?

I have tried the cotton wool method and the five gauze discs method and both work. The I-Inhale is poor for eliquid when dropping the juice directly into the chamber as it just boils off too quickly. The cotton wool and gauze methods allow the vaporization to occur more slowly. Remember, PG has a lower boiling point than VG so VG should vaporize more slowly. I only use PG and it is still fine.

The catalytic reaction of the I-Inhale is excellent, the reaction is only incomplete in the first second or so of the initial warm up. If you can smell butane, the unit is either not lit, or it is faulty. The vaporization chamber is also sealed from the reaction chamber. There are many comments about safety from the manufacturer on the FC forums.

A few tips;

The unit uses 1ml of gas per hour, so a 250ml can of butane should last 250 hours.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE CENTRE HEATING PIN
Some users have stripped threads and had to return under warranty

Stick to mainstream butane brands such as Colibri, Braun, Newport Gas and Ronson in Europe. Do not use Ronson in the USA

Thanks for the info, Andy. I will get one (with liquid if possible) if we have to follow our American cousins along the road to ruin. I'm downright afraid of tobacco now.

Why not use Ronson in the USA? Did I miss something?

The manufacturers say that Ronson in the US is not as good as the UK product, it has been known to cause issues with consistent gas flow meaning users have had to return the units under warranty. Some with issues have switched to better fuels and their II/IO has returned to excellent performance.

Thanks Frog! I've only had mine for a week and have used Ronson a couple of times. Hopefully it's not too late.

What is recommended in the US? Can you make a suggestion please?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure it will be fine after a week, I have not tried any US brands of butane, but Oglesby & Butler (the II/IO manufacturer) say Braun or Colibri in the USA. They were also talking of releasing their own gas under the Portasol brand, which is the make of gas tools they produce. Not sure if it is out yet.

Thanks Andy I didn't know about Ronsons either.

I took the center pin out of mine and I use cotton wool or a round cotton pad cut. I also like to use a small piece of an unbleached coffee filter with the cotton pad wrapped loosely in center (sort of like they described using foil). I love, love, love it-- It is a lot of fun experimenting wirh it instead of throwing away dead attys every 5 mins or waiting to charge a battery lol. It is well worth the investment if you ask me!!
