I've been looking for a good battery mod for a reasonable price. I kinda decided on a Chuck mainly because of the enthusiasm of all the Chuck owners. I bought a 905 because it seemed cheap...and it is. I sent Jeff at Thagbuilt.com a message from his contact page about a week ago and have not gotten a response. I also thought that the nautilus sounded good (and it uses the 14500batts I already have) but I've sent Bill (Shrek) messages from three different places (one site, another site and an e-mail add. listed in the text from one site) with no response. Dosen't anyone want to sell their product? Do a brutha gotta beg?

5V may be good for you. It is too strong for me. A mod using a high mAh "3.7V"* battery [e.g., your 14500 batt or, especially, an 18650 batt (2400+ mAh)] is my personal preference. Which version # of the DSE905 do you have? V1 and V2 had their problems, but I've heard good things about the V3.

You may want to consider the XHaler from NHaler. Since it operates at "3.7V"*, 5V, and 6V (and even higher), you can use it at whatever level that is best for you.

* Actually, with the high mAh battery it uses, that would be more like 4.2V.

Don, I'm not sure on the version of 905 I bought. It was sold as a Nomad (which I thought was v2) but it didn't have a lining in the cap. As for getting an XHaler, Drew is who sold me the 905 so I'm kinda waiting to see what he does about correcting the melt-down problem (newer version cap?) before I place another order.

The latest version might be OK, but the first ones were junk. I paid the price for a recent one at NHaler ($57.00) and got a version 1 (they don't say on the site what version it is). I just assumed, for THAT price.....
I made myself a Noco Stick for less than $5.00 that vapes better than the 905 and doesn't stay on & burn up attys. Took me less than an hour to make and it don't get much cheaper than $5.00!

I've got the one that Gary has and it's the fourth version. Works like a charm. I also really like the Ikenvape Lazer mod - great battery life and flavorful cartomizers.

I've been meaning to check out the nicostick.

Deena, there were some problems with the first 905s. Sounds like they ironed them out. I'm just kinda ...... that NHaler sold me an early one for $57.00. I don't think that's too legit.
I was gonna buy one of their XHaler mods but I'm not doing business with them anymore.
Anyway, I really like my home made NicoStick. It vapes really well and I got all the parts at a local radio shack for $4.38 +tax, except the batteries and atty connector.
There's instructions in the modders forum. Real easy to follow, Illustrated, step by step. It's super easy and I had never soldered a wire before. I recomend trying it. What ya got to lose?

For a sturdy, reliable, affordable device with a low day-to-day running cost and enough power to do the job all day long, you can't beat a Screwdriver. Trog, the inventor/manufacturer of the Screwdriver, has his own web forum on which he posts regularly, and he also responds quickly to emails.

The performance and ergonomics are top notch. Plus the fact of the matter is many of the newer and more trendy mods on the market today are either cheap Screwdriver knock-offs or overpriced and overpowered vanity devices that put too mcuh emphasis on pretty and not enough on affordability and reliability.

Trog is constantly tweaking the Screwdriver without sacrificing what's good about it... the latest switch, for instance, is practically bulletproof.

You can find the device at ecigscrewdriver.com

The 905 is about the most shameless ripoff of the screwdriver. I'm sure the real thing is well worth the extra couple bucks.
I actually have a Chuck on order though, which will give me that high volt option and I haven't seen more enthusiastic customers than Jeff (the maker of the Chuck) has in any other thread.
