Hello Everyone,
I tried to figure the best area to post this question & hope I chose well.

Well years ago my wife & I quit smoking with Ego battery's and those 1st generation atomizers "totallywicked tornado's" (2011)
Well we both started back after 4-6 months .

Fast forward to now, I noticed the vapeing gear has improved & I
want to try and quit cigarettes again.

Okay here's the crazy question,
I bought an i-stick & a kanger sub tank mini, in hopes to avoid the issues I had long ago only to figure out you just have to work on vape-gear...lol

Finally I've gotten this Kanger sub tank to wick properly & not get dry hits.

Here's where I need help.
I'm not interested in clouding down a room, I just want to quit this 2-3 pk a day cigarette habit.

Can anyone suggest a method to use my device & not look like I'm a human fog machine?
Long ago I used 24-36 mg eliquid but our ego device's where no where as efficient in nicotine delivery.

I can't seem to find a happy medium between getting plenty of nicotine without fogging up a room with this new 'era' of sub ohm devices.
I've been using 18mg e-liquid, but what I'm guessing is the efficiency of sub ohm tanks produce so much vapor that I cough at the end of every exhale.
My thinking is I'm doing this one cough on every exhale from the amount of vapor I'm drawing into my lungs.
I went to a local Vape shop & asked the owner about this issue and he seems to think this us because of the nicotine strength, thing is I know what it feels like to get to much nicotine, this isn't the case for me as I'm not satisfied nicotine wise using the 18mg, and can't seem to quit this "cough on the exhale" issue.
It doesn't make sence to me to use extremely low nicotine e-liquid and constantly Vape non stop while still craving nicotine/ cigarettes.

Any ideas? Please I'd greatly appreciate the help & suggestions.
I can wrap coils & all that I just can't seem to get a happy medium & am unable to figure out what seems to be a simple issue, with this 'one cough in every exhale
I also can't mouth to lung inhale without coughing.
Thanks for the help

You're using roughly triple the nicotine I use in my kanger subtanks. I can tell you from experience that 12mg and up is way way too harsh for me, around 6 is perfect.

I should have mentioned the liquid I'm using is a 70/30 pg-vg liquid.
I've noticed at higher wattage & full air flow it warms the Vape up & sorta is more comfortable, still I get a simple dry cough on the exhale almost every big drag I take.
Is this a common issue? Possibly a better way to search the internet for others with similar issues? Thanks for your reply I'll give you suggestions a try

Any other ideas?

I agree with Rizzy above, a higher PG or rather lower VG, although PG does cause throat hit which might be what is bothering you, Trial and error is the only way to tell for sure, a good time to start DIY, as far as strength , I prefer the stronger 24mg/ less frequent puff aproach, good luck:vapor:

I have a few of the Subtanks and love them. I use the 1.2 ohm coils on a 60pg/40vg liquid. I am a mouth to lung vape so the first thing i changed on the subtank was to get a more restrictive mouthpiece (drip tip) to replace the wide bore that comes with the tank.

I would also suggest dropping your nic to 6. If you buy the same flavor juice in a zero nicotine and mix it equally with what you have in 18 you will lower the nic content to 9. It might be a good start. I think the cough is probably from the nic level being too high on such an efficient tank. However you should also probably read this link, just in case :

Good luck in your vape journey.

Hmmm.
Did you have a HEAVY cigarette/nicotine addiction? I ask because I really do smoke roughly 3 pks. a day full flavor cigarettes, which isn't to expensive because I make my own smokes , thanks for the reply + help.

Yes, I smoked somewhere around 2 packs a day. On my ego battery and evod tank I'd use 18 or 24mg nic. If I were you I'd try out a bottle of 6mg high VG juice with that subtank. That's what most people run it on, and it seems to work great with that. If you're worried about chain vaping all day, just use a slightly higher nic. Be aware that there is enough vapor that you'll be coughing if there's too much lol.

Thanks , I read that link & several others similar on the internet trying to figure out this issue.
I'll build a higher ohm coil & try that aswell thanks for the suggestion, maybe I can figure a temporary way to restrict the drip tip aswell, until I can get one shipped.
Also I'll take this e-liquid & have 5ml with 5ml if glycerin aswell.
Thanks for the suggestion, I have a Velocity rda & with the wide bore it comes with really makes the cough on exhale worse ,so this makes great sense.

Rather than have one shipped you might be able to find a cheap one at a local vape shop. Good luck, you CAN do this!

I agree with the dit suggestion aswell, I've reopened my perfume apprentance account & added alott to my cart already, I made all our e-liquid long ago & liked it better aswell, I'm just trying to sort out this issue before I spend my extra money.
Off topic a little, but do you have a suggestion for a nicotine source? I can't remember my old source, thanks.

Buried in books
I tried out the subtanks, too, but found I coughed after each hit as well. Didn't care for it. Plus, I don't do my own coil building either so I found a few regular tanks that I find give me enough vapor but not TOO much. Having a few tanks that I can just fill and go works for me. I get plenty of vapor, no coughing, and easy maintenance.

Nautilus mini tanks, GS Air M and Ms tanks as well as the little GS16s tanks (all from Eleaf) are what I've been using with my iStick 30w batteries.
Just a thought...

Thank you guys & gals a bunch.

I'll try one thing at a time until I figure this issue out.
I took a little piece of cotton and loosely placed it in the drip tip of the Kanger tank & that helps considerably.
Hopefully a more restrictive drip tip will help & I won't loose flavor.
Thanks again everyone

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
Crank down the power, up the coil resistance, increase the PG ratio of your juice. Those should all help making smaller clouds. If you've recently quit a 2-3 pack/day habit, I don't think anything will stop you coughing completely. I still do nearly 2 years after a 1.5 pack habit. Your lungs are trying to rid themselves of all that foreign gunk. Let them, would be my advice.
