I HAVE joined other forums that DO allow it, but as you see my post count, I tend to hang out HERE, where the cursing and bullying arent allowed.
Exactly Jerry. I feel it takes a higher degree of intelligence to drive your point across sans gutter mouth. Heck anyone can yell and cuss and swear. Doesn't make them an adult anymore than it makes them intelligent........
Initially it was an offhand comment on the irony. I didn't really expect much of a response if any at all. I wasn't complaining, I wasn't asking for a change. But now I'm intrigued
. Has this come up before? Was there some huge problem or battle over this in the past? And I'm surprised at the assumption there would be rampant, gratuitous cursing without the filter in place. I've gathered the impression that the general membership here is of a somewhat "older" demographic and would not expect the more childish use of profanity would be a problem. Even then mostly self policing. I'm on a fairly large muscle car site/forum where there is no filter at all. Rules are basically: no discussions on illegal acitivities and anything more pornagraphic that what would be "safe for work" is restricted to a couple of sub forums. We have an older demographic there as well and you don't hear much of anything you wouldn't hear at your local McDonalds or Denny's.
