First of all hi. Im new here, so im not sure if this is a frequently asked question or not. But how do i optimize my tank to handle the full capabilities of my box mod. I have an ipv3 li topped with a kanger subtank mini. Ive been using the default coils for a while now and vaping at 50watts. I want to be able to vape at the full capability of 200 watts. i use vaporfi juice 50/50. Thank you in advance.

Oh, and by optimize, i mean vapor production not flavor.
Edit: I know you can technically hit it at 200 watts, but its almost the equivalence of smoking at 50W, hence why i smoke at 50w. i want to be able to smoke actually at 200w and drag at the longest i can without getting a dry hit.

howdy - and welcome!

gotta ask - why the desire to vape at 200 watts? my tfv tank with the quad coil will rock 120-140 watts, but that is a LOT of vapor? is it just to say you have done it?

check out steam-engine.org and play with the ohms law calculator there... (just because a ferrari will GO 240 miles an hour doesn't really make it a great idea...)

i have mods capable of firing up to 180 watts, and I consistently use them in the 50-80 watt range, depending on what kind of topper I am running - granted, to each his own, but i am curious about the actual LOGIC behind wanting to vape at 200 watts

one thing to check for is the ohms sweetspot:

This is a dead post so sorry for the reply. but i want to vape at 200w just because i like seeing all the smoke. it just feels good imo. Granted, im the type of person that speeds and would probably go 240mph lol. THanks for your help man. Stay healthy n stuff :)

A subtank mini was designed to do up to 50 watts... sure you can stretch that some but 200 watts is just way too much or that particular tank. If you want to go that high you'll need a tank designed for high wattage vaping and even those will burn the wick at 200 watts really fast.

I honestly don't see the point in vaping that high. You get better results vaping at 70 to 100 watts. Over that and you get dry hits and burning the wick.

As it was said in Jaws, "You're going to need a bigger boat". In your case you need a bigger tank. Well not bigger, just more geared toward handling high wattage vaping. The SMOK TVF4 I think is optimized to vape at 120 watts. The Uwell Crown will do 110 Watts. I seen someone doing a vape off with both tanks on youtube and both tanks vaped up to 160 watts and then both dropped off with dry hits after that. The Aromizer is a good tank but I'm not sure it's limits. I'm sure there are tanks out there that may go up to 200 watts but you really need to do some research and find a tank designed for that. If you don't you'll burn your insulators or worse.

You could get a good RDA for that, but then again you'll need to research which are best for high wattage vaping.

I guess I have to ask why would anyone want to vape that high? I mean you won't get more flavor nor much more vapor than 100-110 watts or so. Anything above that and you are losing flavor, dry hits, and burning wicks far too often.

And just because you can drive a car at 240 mph doesn't mean it's safe or that you should.

I suppose to each their own.

It looks like it's been a while since you posted this. Can you update? Did you try it? Did you get a new tank?

You don't need 200w mods to rip clouds bro. Stop drinking the kool aid. All you need to do is learn how to build properly. Don't take a junk build and try to fix it with tons of power...it'll just taste bad and it'll make you look silly.
The dna200 is an awesome board.....but not for the reasons you're thinking about.
Learn about heat flux and how airflow works....you can fog up a room at 20w if you put a little effort in it.

I can see it now. A box mod with two threads which allows for two tanks side by side and a dual drip tip with one mouth piece. Then 200 watt mods would serve their purpose.

Imagine the clouds !. Two drippers on one mod.:w00t::thumbs:

You mean like the chainsmoker mod?

You can't do that. Start with the voltage range the coils can handle. You can fudge s bit but burning cotton tastes NASTY.

ANOTHER factor you can only get the full 200 watts with the resistance in a small window.

Forget about getting 200 watts and going after a tasty or satisfying vape.

AMEN! I fog up a room with my Goblin Mini with 17.5 watts.

I have never seen the need to go beyond 32 watts. 200 watts is for RDAs or RTAs with BIG airflow to cool the coil. With a Kayfun Nano using s single coil I have had the coil burn at 15 watts.

Forget who said it recently maybe @roxynoodle said YouTuber need big watts because they are lousy at building coils.
