My first mod was a home made job I hacked together by watching a Steel Jan video, it was an Altoids tin and used 3 AA nimh cells...I ran an Igo-L dripper attie on it  built to about 2Ω resistance.

This is where my journey down the rabbit hole began...:)

BTW, I still have that Altoids box mod, and it still works, it has been upgraded to use an 18500 cell now, occasionally I fire it up and vape it for nostalgia's sake.

Does anyone remember the guy that did a lot of EGo reviews back when they first came out?

He wore glasses and often a black cap if I remember correctly, and he produced a lot of YT reviews too back then. I think he started the main Ego-T thread too when it first came out.

He doesn't know it but I learned a lot from his video's and forum-posts back then. Without him I could still be smoking right now for all I know, so I'm a little ashamed that I can't even remember his name. I'm not sure if he's still around even, I keep looking around for him but I might not even recognize his forum-name even if he is still an active member..

I think his first name was Phil but I might be wrong...

I remember bulding my first mod from a PowerWheels 6V charger and a hollowed out slim battery. Next, move tot he flashlight mod using 2 CR123As, then the old laser pointer mod. I remember madog, Cisco, Nicowolf, Stormynights, etc.

I still want one of these little tins, are they still available anywhere?

I notice that they sell the empty tins on Ebay for a ridiculous price or you can go to the grocery store and buy them full of mints for under 2 bucks. I built a VV VW mod with a Vamo board in a tin well over a year ago, and it is my go to mod still.

The guy I'm thinking off is Caucasian too, American, around 40 to 45 I suspect, and there was no facial hair at least back then.
Sounds like you may not be thinking of "The Guy With The Fedora" then?
Around here he went by Moobyghost.

I remember when you had to drive miles to try to find a vape shop so you could try this thing called an electronic cigarette. I remember when 15ml and 30ml bottles were the norm and would last for days. I remember when organic cotton because a "thing." I remember the days before premade coils. Those days, much like the simpler days when you knew your gender by checking the contents of your own underpants, are gone.

I drove 90 miles to a Pilot Travel Center in 2009 so that I could get my first...

This was a few days after my sister came into town for Father's Day and let me try hers.
After not having much luck with my new NJoy I Googled and found this place.

    The rest is history.

Nope, that's not him, but I just found him again:banana:

I guess he's a little older than I remembered, but it's this guy:

A belated thank you very much for your reviews and research back then @cozzicon !!

I noticed you've hidden all your vape related vids, what happened?

I'm also kinda curious what the man that got me in to vaping is using these day

I remember taking the tubing cutters to the GO-GO carts. I would cut them and half and snatch the guts out with a pair of needle nosed pliers. After reaming the cut edge to install the drip tip I would drip a few drops directly on the coil for a fantastic vape. I was in heaven...lol. Later on I found some low resistance carts and I was doomed to be a dripper for the rest of my life.

After a couple of other devices I stumbled upon the REO and the RM2 atomizer. Been there ever since.

Cozzicon! Right! If I am recalling correctly, he was one of the early Vape "TV" (YouTube) hosts, and I believe he did the show with Basil? (@DC2)

I so enjoyed them both. Pure and light info, zero drama.

I'm not sure if I ever saw those.

I only remember him from researching the Ovale Ego-T I'm afraid, which ended up being my first vape. I actually still have the bats from that starter kit, the black coating is mostly gone now but they still work!

Anyway, that Ego-T worked so well for me that I stuck with it for almost 5 years, and I soon disappeared from this forum after that. I kept on lurking from time to time but I never became real active on ECF until this year!

I just threw out the blue filter stuff, fluval and cotton batting that came in a diy kit from 6 years ago, lol. I bet most on ecf have never heard of some of the things we tried and owned.

I remember the guy who was the 801 king and his many posts about them. And the arguments between the 510 and the kr8 camps, wowzers.

    Howdy Kat!

I seem to remember @cozzicon did a LOT of reviews and was well-respected in the community.

As far as doing a show with basilray, I found this post...
    Vapelink Ends....

Then he disappeared from the forum for around two years, but he did post again last October.

If you look at this link you'll find he is currently on the CASAA Board of Directors.
