Hi everyone,

Being a newbie here is humbling. :) I am a heavy smoker and have been for 40 years...almost 2 packs a day. I have quit once a long time ago, but being naive I thought I couldn't get hooked again since I wasn't hooked anymore. Stupid me! Since that time I haven't been able to quit. The time I did quit I had a quit smoking buddy and don't have anybody to share with now. :(
I have tried it all....Welbutrin, patches, gum, and cold turkey...no luck. They I found at my 7-11 the XO2 for only 19.95 and started with that. It's a piece of junk in my opinion, but it got my onto my research QUEST!
I then went to Green Smoke after much research and I like them second best, but soooo expensive. Plus the higher nic level make me cough. Next was a terrible mistake...the trial offer on Direct E thinking (didn't find all the fine print) I was getting a kit for only $4.99. Stupid me again! I really like the tobacco flavor of Direct E but hate that you have a 3 piece system and I'm not into putting in time to clean and dip.

And now? My 4th adventure...SmokeTip and so far I am very impressed! Prices are the Best for what you receive and just got my kit yesterday so I haven't given it a long time yet. The shipping was lightening fast and FREE. The ease of draw is unbelievable. I choked my head off, lol, with the first draw because I was use to the others that make me feel like I'm sucking so hard to get the vapor (which is not like a real cig) that if I tried that on my analog I would choke.

First impression: I don't like the tobacco flavor but the flavor carts are great.
I want to quit cigs so bad and hate how hard it has been...hoping this SmokeTip is my release from the demon. Fingers crossed. I need all the support I can get and hope this wonderful site can help me.
That was a long post....whew!

I'm glad you found something you think you like but that looks like a standard 510 type e-cig to me, which means lots of battery charging between puffs.
If , as you say you were a heavy smoker, then a RIVA or EGO with 1100/1000maH battery is going to be much much better for you. The Riva is slightly cheaper usually & both are very reliable units. Also you'll want some cartomizers & e-liquid to fill them with, so you don't have to buy/refill cartridges so often.

Look at the bottom of the main forum page for vendors, as many of them have the Riva &/or Ego for sale as well as everything else you need.

welcome onboard and congrats for getting away from analogs.....started with GreenSmoke also and quickly moved on from there
just sent email to friend starting out and interested in vaping....here goes,

........Can get confusing with all the options out there and a ton of opinions. I have been following folks over on ECF which is one of the best e-cigarette forums out there. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ Alot of recommendations for an e-cig vendor is Liberty Flights which have various starter kits. E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings When purchasing make sure to use the USA site and the 20% discount in upper left corner.

I would say the joye eGo kit is the most popular for starters. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo
There is somewhat of a small learning curve with all the lingo so to get caught up and know what's going on do definitely go to ECF and read stuff for beginners and newbies.
Basics to learn....
e-cig forms and connection types
e-liquids - flavors and nic levels
atomizers
cartomizers

go here for some good guides beginnings Vaping Guides

hope that helps

Welcome snooks!

I quit 5mths ago (today), using SmokeTip. They are a great vendor! Kristi is the best! I agree I didn't like their tobacco flavor, but I do like their Marlboro, (I think they call something else now).

Don't look at the mistakes before SmokeTip, you are now using a great kr808 model. Hope it works for you the way it has for me. Did you notice on their site they now have the 380mAh batteries? Those are referred to as XL's here. I'm going to order one next week.

Congrats and ask any and all questions that pop into your head. It's a wonderful forum with great people! :)

Edit: I smoked for 48 years and didn't even want to quit. I got SmokeTip for hubby and I ended up quitting...LOL

Thanks so much for the fast information. I really don't want to drip if I can help it. My time is so limited as a seller on eBay, a daughter with cancer, :( and I also do her bookkeeping.

Is there anything that comes in 2 pieces instead of 3 that works good. So far I really like the SMOKETIP and yes the battery may end up being a pain. They have a 350 maH battery they claim last twice as long. I like that they have a LIFETIME guarantee maybe that will help if I buy several and another charger??????

Thanks

There are other 2 piece sets, and everyone has their favorite. I misquoted and said 380mAh, and it should have been 350mAh which will last longer than the regulars. Definitely get another charger. My regular SmokeTip will last 2-3 hours and if you're on ebay or at the computer like I am, get the PassThrough too!

I'm sorry about your daughter. Best wishes to you both.

Thank you so much. How much did you smoke a day? My concern is I'm such a heavy smoker I haven't been able to get off these Pall Mall (orange) lights even with the e-cigs. I did notice the 380 mAh and will probably order one. I really like there lifetime warranty and thanks for the customer service reps name. I will keep that in mind for sure.
I got the cartridge pack of different flavors and love all of them over the tobacco flavor and may also try the Marlboro.
I am feeling so hopeful now that I have found this site. :)

thanks so much!!!!

So glad you're happy! My Mom (a 60 year smoker) quit with the Smoke Tip. If you like the prefilled carts, you can purchase them from V4L and they should fit.

I say should fit. But I got a new battery for my mom and the carts don't seem to fit on it. I emailed them and I'll keep you posted.

It was a great starter ecig for her because it was simple to use, great CS, and great warranty. Hope you have lots of luck with it.

Since she was such a long time heavy smoker, I got her the 36 mg carts from V4L.

Hi snooks,

I smoked a pack a day, if stressed over that. Love the lifetime warranty, and I did have a problem with PassThrough I ordered and Kristi sent a new one out before I could return the old. She's great. I also got all the flavors and with free shipping it's great. Know that your SmokeTip is a kr808 and will work with other cartomizers, like Vapor4Life. You're very busy, but you may find later on you want to get liquid and start refilling. Your SmokeTips are automatic batteries, and if you do start refilling, you'll need to be very careful so that no liquid gets into the battery. But let's save that for later. Right now, enjoy the prefilled flavors and get more of what you like. I do strongly suggest the PT (PassThrough) now though, along with the 350mAh battery and extra charger. SmokeTip isn't the cheapest, but with free shipping they even things out.

Feel free to PM me anytime. :)

Hiya snooks and welcome! Like you, I quit several times before including the patch and welbutrin. A friend introduced me to ecigs, she had cancer and her doctor advised her to quit because of all the medical hell to come. The cancer is gone although she won't give up smoking.

Anyhow.... Don't get too upset about not being able to kick the habit right off. It took me months to give them up and there are still times that I feel the urge to light up. I ran out on New Year's Eve and I kinda knew I would, but I didn't buy any for the weekend. I had juice and batteries on hand so I figured I'd give it a try again. The longest I made it with ecigs before was 3 days. Then it was another month before I tried again. I think the more you vape the more analogs stink and taste horrid. Try switching to a brand that you won't like, or even better the cheapest brand on the shelf. That helped me a bit too. I tried one brand that was like inhaling a chemical spill and I though "omg I am sucking in this crap???" It was an eye opener in a way and it helped me as well.

The folks in this forum are great and really supportive and offer tons of advice and opinions about how to beat your demon. Take what helps and make it work for you!

I will do that! They're a very nice company to deal with. Until I got the new battery, I've been re-filling the cartos I got from V4L which is super easy to do. They have been very nice with everything so far, my mother accidently lit her ecig and they sent her a new one free of charge! I'm sure I won't have any problems.

But before you get the new longer battery, maybe see if other cartos will work on it.

I believe the SmokeTip is a KR808D-1 model, so you can buy any KR808D-1 parts and pieces from anywhere, should you want to.

And if you want much longer battery life, the PigCig batteries from LeCig will work.
I think they are 650mah and about the thickness of a round cigar.

They are the counterpart of the eGo/Tornado/Riva/Inferno type batteries for the 510 model.

Smoketip - the 2-piece model? That is a KR808D-1 aka "Vapor King" at Vapor4Life

Judging from the picture Smoketop is using the smallest KR8 battery (the "shorty" at 180mah). And it looks like SMoketip also sells the xl battery (350-380mah). But there is also a size between those two that you can get elsewhere - the standard battery at 280mah which still fits in the PCC. SO if you need slightly longer lasting batteries, try a KR808D-1 or Vapor4Life standard size.

Grats!

Thanks so much. Wow! so much to learn...so far I love this smoke tip and I am getting the passthrough cause I do sit at my computer more than half the day selling on eBay. That should save me a lot on needing to keep recharging. I hope! :)

Hi Snooks - Welcome to ECF Forum.

Sounds like you've had quite a journey on your quest to quit smoking. Glad you found something you think will work for you.

Happy Vaping,
Paula

Thank you! I probably have spent more money than buying regular cigs...but what the heck...if I have found the right one it doesn't matter. I just want off these analogs so bad and hope my planned quit day works.
