As a smoker of 47 years I would like to take time to share my experiences with you. I started smoking at age of 10 years old and smoked for 47 years. At the age of 40 years old I had a massive heart attack while using the patch. On the way to the Hospital I had to be defibed two times and several other times while Dr. saved my life. After getting out of the hospital about three weeks later I was back on cigarettes and continued to smoke for the next 18 years. Then I had another heart attack December 2013 eight months ago. After which I was headed right back to cigarettes when I was introduced to vaping. I have not smoked a cigarette since and plan not to. I started out at 12% nicotine and have reduced down to 2% nicotine. My plans are to be nicotine free by March of 2015 and free at last.

I love the video and if you all have room on that bus I would love to come. My senators and representatives all here from me on a regular basis. I also did the freetovape.org thing and belong to cassa. It's all about lost revenues and money in lost sales not only BT,BP but also BIG GOVERNMENT State and Federal.

Whew! Learning more stuff! Okay, would the hookah users be zapped by the new FDA regs too?

Hmm I doubt it. My country (UAE) is a main exporter of Shisha Tobacco (Al-Fakher brand is being made here), and yet they banned vaping. But then again, it seems that my country takes FDA regulations seriously as this was one of the reasons, if not a main reason, e-cigarettes got banned here. Here's a little text from an article:
“There was no approval from (United States) the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it can be used as a therapy (and) no recommendation from the MoH,” she
pointed out.

And:
A safety alert issued previously by the FDA stated that “a laboratory analysis of e-cigarette samples found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in anti-freeze that is toxic to humans. In several other samples, the FDA analyses detected carcinogens, including nitrosamines.”

"Hazardous e-cigarette Smoked out of Market"

Of course that article is 5 years old, but it's a sign that FDA regulations regarding e-Cigs are being taken seriously and will most likely be inherited here :(

UPDATE: I'm not sure if the new FDA regulations will affect hookah smokers in the USA, but I hope not!

5 years ago the FDA lost a lawsuit because they were trying to regulate ecigs as medicinal devices. The court's judgment was ecigs are not medicinal devices and the only way the FDA can regulate them is if they do so as a tobacco product. This is the whole hulabaloo going on now.

The reason vaping is being banned so much is not because it's bad, but because people are buying less cigarettes, which is destroying cigarette companies, and this is healthier, so big pharmacies and doctors aren't receiving enough cash from all of the cancer people are getting. It's that simple.

You have hit the nail right on the head!

And thank you very much for sharing your story, Rlrick!

Hey and I brought some provisions for our ride on the bus. Care for a German beer? Cheers!

Well here's my thought on all this regulation stuff. They are trying to claim that e-cigarettes are a gateway to smoking for young people and that it will lead ex-smokers back to smoking. Easiest solution to the whole thing first make available vaping supplies to the public world wide. Call all cigarette manufactures and tell them they are out of business world wide then pull all cigarettes and smokeable tobacco from the market shelves. After this watch how many governments and their agencies go broke. I have yet heard of any agency saying that we now have the tool to stop smoking completely world wide. World wide health organizations and governments are hooked on our free money to them.

And as far as the beer it sounds real good

I smoked for 42 years and started vaping in april 2014...Was NOT trying to quit...just cut back..my last smoke was on april 8th 2014..i still have 4 cartons in my freezer...absolutely NO desire to have one...I love to vape..TY for the video...Vape ON America!!

Congrats on quitting! It might be time to get rid of those cigs in the freezer to make room for a couple liters of 100 mg nic base.

Welcome, HotRed, and congrats for a "no little" achievement! It surprised me too! Some surprises in life aren't so hot, but this.....this one is a wowser! :w00t: Think you'll find yourself more and more interested in the "art of vaping" as time goes by. So--o-o many choices, so-o-o-o much to learn, so-o-o-o pretty/handsome, and so-o-o-o NOT like cigarettes!

Hey, WorksForMe, think it's time for me to ditch mine too!

Yeah, it's been 2 1/2 years since I quit, but I wouldn't want to deal the temptation of having cigs in the house all the time. My nephew from PA left a partial pack here when he left. My wife destroyed them when she saw me looking at them.

I keep half a pack of cigarettes in my freezer :) the same pack I was smoking when I finally quit 8 months ago. At one point a few months after I quit I got really stressed out and had one. I felt like :censored: for half an hour afterward. Lesson learned; I haven't touched them since.

I like keeping them around, knowing I could have one at any time, and that I don't because I don't want to. :)

I quit smoking over a year ago and still have a pack unopened in my freezer in my garage. I forget it's there :) I quit with 8 packs left in my carton and sold 7 packs and thought I would keep one pack just in case, so far I never have had to open it and I never think about having a pack until I read stories like that :)

Maybe it's...um-m-m-m.....denying the whole "I'm denying myself a pleasure" .....thing? Keeping the tobacco around and allowing yourself to smoke if you want means that one part of the psycological act of quitting is not there to fight against? I didn't intend to quit and there's proof, and I'll do what I da--ng well please, and......"I" have control of this situation! :p

I'm just trying to figure out why we got the smokes still in the house and haven't smoked them. Not feeling deprived of a choice works for us? But, one can get rid of them; and if need be, go to the corner store to buy a pack.....But, that's public.......and takes effort......and feels like a fail? Don't old cigarettes get stale and would be nasty tasting?.....Hm-m-m-m, keep them "in case" you want to try again and they'll be awful tasting; therefore, reinforcing your "right" decision to vape! :w00t:

Think I just "tricked" myself.

After almost 5 years vaping the thought of smoking makes my stomach turn - the appeal is long gone. So does the smell (I don't bug anyone, though - been there.) My parents both smoked really heavily and I used to get carsick, hated the choking smell of the house when I came inside.
After 40+ years of heavy, heavy smoking I didn't have that reaction of course, loved that taste, but at this point I don't think I could stand even one hit. I like my nic in a little strawberry banana breeze cloud, or whatever I feel like tapping. So only option would be black market for me. Hope it thrives, if it comes to that. Sigh.

I am a "gray head" too! (Well I have to confess- Loreal 5G is a friend of mine.) But after 46 years this is the only product that got me off those things. I'd go anywhere with Jeannie to help our cause. I think that is why I am so upset about the legislators, FDA and ANTZ people. They just don't get it. The first thread I go to is legislation. Frankly I don't go to many of the other threads. This is too important to me.

I've never seen either Dimitri or Kev in a real-world context - only in what you might call "in studio" environments, dealing w/ "experts" like Dr. Ross and so forth. They're both very good hosts. And Jeannie is absolutely priceless :)

We need to fund a busload of people like her and her friends to go to Washington, next time Harkin or some of his ilk have a hearing. Or maybe get them to some of these state legislative or city council hearings. No disrespect to younger vapers, but a few folks like Jeannie and her friends would IMO have much more impact than a whole room full of tatooed cloud chasers.

(To repeat: I have nothing against tatoos or non-invasive cloud chasing. Or hotboxing either. It's the preconceived notions held by the intended audience of decision makers that I'm talking about.)
