For those of us that have had issues with the device, I think some people aren't getting that it worked fine until it didn't. This is not like a lotto (scratch-off) ticket where you either got a winner or not, this is something that will just happen at a point where we could have just uttered the words, "it works fine; I have had no issues!" And then...!?!?!?!
For those that have not experienced issues (and hopefully never will), I think it is fine for you all to recommend this based on your experiences, but it seems to me that the best thing to do with your recommendation is to at least, at the very least, put a caveat on your recommendation -- especially if talking to someone that is out-of-the-loop and just needs advice.
Some of you may say, "why should I put a caveat on anything when mine works just fine?" To which I would say, re-read the beginning of my post. And if in fact Eleaf fixed the issue, I think that's great! But, as has been said, if there is no clear and easy way to identify the new vs. old devices, how do you recommend the one that is supposedly fixed? I guess there is always the suggestion to buy direct from Eleaf for an additional ~$20.
Did anyone here buy direct from Eleaf? I bought from a well-respected vendor and Eleaf/Joyetech would not honor my purchase even though it is in fact authentic and that was not in dispute. The vendor I bought it from offered to try and fix it for me, but I just cut my losses rather than having a refurbished iStick.
