I think we need to STOP recommending a Istick 50

Most things, generally speaking, should not catch on fire. I highly doubt it is the wide spread issue this thread would have me believe.

But it doesn't actually light on fire when this happens, correct?

I believe the button/"autofire" issue to be a correctable one if you can't get the warranty honored.
The auto fire issue was thought to be a result of e juice getting down through the connection. Then eleaf decided that they'd let us know that there were other connection issues. Multiple issues and the hot charging probably contributed to fire.

Since he used a generic USB charger, how do we know the problem wasn't caused by using an incompatible charger?

We don't. And we also don't know if he was using a "name brand" charger, or a cheap one. I had heard that some of those chargers can actually damage your electronics because they put out way more amps than they should.

Don't recall seeing that mentioned other than there had been a significant number of people experiencing that problem. Did I miss that?

Seems like continuous autofiring would put a lot of strain on the battery, so if you had it set at high it presumably would sooner or later. Sounds like it would fry your wick or coil pretty quickly as well since you wouldn't be drawing on it and the wick would dry out.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. How do you fix it? I thought I read it was caused by a fault in the control chip.

Its was my istick that exploded completely untouched never misused or abused. Completely over charged itself and vented that's how we know. Not being a dick but the 50w is a dangerous piece of gear, my buddies also blew up too. Stores around have had many many returns and people coming in with problems same as mine.

Kanger's 50 watt mod is arriving at a perfect time now eh? Maybe they sabotaged all the isticks lol before they were exported. Vaporshark was probably in on it also. Hilary Clinton also. And the State of Indiana. It's a conspiracy :)

I think eLeaf Intentionally made the iStick 50's Flawed.

Because their Sister Company was going to come out with a iStick 100w under another Name. And then eLeaf would Sell Clones of it.

That's what I thought. So everyone is blaming the iStick when no one actually knows what caused it to catch on fire. It wouldn't be the first time an e-cig caught on fire from using the wrong charger.

If this was the cause wouldn't it be likely to affect all batteries, not just this one.

If you frequent this or other forums, you'd realize this IS a widespread issue with this model.

These units use a LiPo battery, which is not safe chemistry. When this chemistry battery vents, it vents with flames and can potentially explode.

This is True.

But something that should Also be consider is Just about EVERY APV that I know of that has a built in Battery using LiPo Chemistry.

And this is why I have Moved away from MOD's that have Built in Batteries.

Again, MOST people aren't interested, or ultimately don't care enough to read reviews on products. Some do, most don't.

It's like vehicle reviews. People are going to look for a new car. They're not on the Internet checking out all the reviews, recalls, pros, cons, etc. If you check out car reviews, there's a higher percentage of people that will be posting about the negative side of things. Transmission problems, oil leaks, interior flaws and so on.

We live in a world of buy now, talk later. It's human nature.

Sure makes me glad to be unlike 99.99% of humanity then. If I'm spending more than $5 on anything, I'm checking it out BEFORE I buy it, not afterward.

Human nature? Humans are idiots.

Yep... I want to know the quality and type of batt I am using. Most if not all do not divulge this level of detail. If it has a high batt capacity and a low price - there has to be a reason - it is not just to pass on a good deal to you...

I've got No Problem with Lipo's. Last time I checked, that is what is in All my Cell Phones.

But for a Power Source in an APV, in a Market where Quality seems to take a Backseat to Testing/Development due to what I outlined in Post [HASHTAG]#143[/HASHTAG], and where it is hard to Tell what is Real and what is a Clone, I feel better using a Quality 18650 that came from a Vendor that I Trust.

And then Charging that 18650 in a Stand-Alone Charger.
